They walked back through the door into the bar and chatted with a few of the players and girlfriends when Nathan, one of the back room staff, came up and joined the group.

“Alright guys?” Nathan took a sip of his beer.

“Nathan,” Aaron nodded to Nathan, “Have you met Imogen?”

“No, not yet.” Nathan shook Imogen’s hand. “So you are the young lady that is finally taming this player here.”

Imogen chuckled, “I am not too sure about that but I am must be doing something right as he is still interested.”

Aaron laughed, but got called away from one of the players before he could make a response and left Imogen with Nathan.

“You must be doing something as Aaron has turned down a deal to join a team in Sydney.”

“Wow, I didn’t know that.” Imogen was shocked by the news and confused as well. They haven’t said anything about what is happening between them, so to hear that he has turned down a chance to join another team on the other side of the world was shocking.

What did it mean? Did he not join for her or was there other reasons for him not taking that transfer.

“Shit, sorry I thought you knew.” Nathan looked stricken.

“Don’t worry about it.” Imogen could sense that he wanted to be elsewhere, “I’m going to go and talk to Meg. Nice meeting you.”

“You too.”

Imogen walked over to Meg who was getting her bag. “You leaving?”

“Yes, got to get up early, I got to sort out an afternoon party at the hotel tomorrow. Are you staying?”

Imogen looked round towards Aaron who was laughing with his friends. “I will come with you. Aaron can follow me.”

“You sure?”

“Yeah, got tired all of a sudden. Must be all the excitement of the game.”

Meg smiled, “Come on.”

They walked out to Meg’s car while Imogen sent a quick text to Aaron telling him  to follow her when he was finished.

Imogen was dropped off at her flat and just let herself in when she heard the door buzzer. She unlocked the door latch and Aaron soon bounded up the stairs.

“Hey,” he kissed her as he walked in the door. “Why did you go?”

“Just got tired and thought it was best to leave you with your friends.”

He frowned, “What is the matter?”

Imogen shrugged, she was still reeling from the news that he could have gone off to Australia and didn’t discuss any of it with her. She couldn’t believe that she had found love again but it could have disappeared just as quick because of his plans.

He grabbed her and pulled her into his arms. “Now tell me what is wrong.”

She didn’t know how to bring it up and didn’t know if she wanted to but she had to. “I just overheard about your possible move to Australia.”

“Ahh shit.” He let her go and moved away.

He rubbed his hands through his hair. “I got an offer three months ago and didn’t know what to do. I have been with Leeds since my professional career started and when that offer came in I thought yes it would be fun to have a new challenge. But leaving Leeds is like leaving my family and I couldn’t do it. Then I met you and you changed my world.”

He took a deep breath and carried on, “I didn’t think I was ready to settle down with anyone. I was still enjoying being the player and having causal relationships. Then I met you and you walked away and gave me a real challenge for a change. When I got to spend more time with you and realised you could be someone that I could actually be with in a serious relationship. You are turning into the love of my life and I am sorry that I didn’t tell you about Australia but I had already made my mind up and signed a new deal with Leeds.”

They stood in silence as Imogen processed what he said. She couldn’t believe it. This man just admitted that he loved her. Sure he didn’t tell her about Australia but does she really have the right to be angry when he decided before he met her. It was the shock of finding out by someone else that really bothered her.

She turned towards him and felt the love consuming her and the anger disappeared. She rushed to him and he caught her up in his arms.

“I love you too.” She said shakily, as Aaron held her and walked over to the sofa and laid her down before following.

“Thank fuck.” He claimed her mouth and refused to let her up for air in case she changed her mind. Soon her hands were pulling at his t-shirt and trying to get to his skin and feel him.

He broke the kiss to take his top off and get hers off before going back for more. Hands were everywhere as they pulled at their clothing and when flesh was touching flesh Imogen sighed with relief. She needed this man. She needed his touch. She needed his kisses. She just needed him to feel alive.

She soon felt alive as his hands roamed her body and caressed every inch of her bringing her to the b
r
ink before claiming her body fully by thrusting inside her. She gasped as he buried himself to the hilt. She loved this feeling of being completely filled and when he pulled the out, the friction of it sent her over. He waited while she rode out her orgasm before plunging back in and slowly thrust in and out, bringing her back to the edge. Aaron slowly brought them over the edge and wrapped Imogen up in his arms.

“I love you.” He kissed her hair as they settled on the sofa.

“I love you too.” Imogen replied sleepily.

Aaron pulled the blanket over them as Imogen fell asleep.

Chapter 10

Three Months Later

“Thank god that’s over.” Aaron said, as he danced with Imogen at Meg’s and Neil’s wedding.

“The speech was very funny and touching.” She relaxed into his hold. “The perfect best man’s speech.”

“Well the next one I will have to do I suppose is the grooms one.”

Imogen tensed and her heart jumped as she looked up to him.

“What did you say?” She sputtered out.

“I was talking about our wedding.” Aaron smiled as he watched Imogen trying to process what he was saying.

She managed to recover, “Well that would be interesting but don’t you think you need to ask me first.”

“I suppose, but I think I will keep you in suspense for a while.”

She smacked him on his arm, “Don’t you dare.”

He laughed, “Ok sweetheart.”

He bent his head, and whispered in her ear, “I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?”

Imogen smiled, but she waited for a few moments before answering just to keep him in suspense, like he wanted to do to her.

“Well you going to give me an answer?” Aaron requested.

“Still thinking about it, don’t want to rush into this.”

He growled in her ear. “Give me an answer.”

She liked this domineering and demanding side.

“Well,” she twirled her finger around his untied tie, “I believe my answer will be…” she paused.

He gripped her harder.

She leaned up and whispered in his ear, “Yes.”

She squealed when he picked her up and twirled her around and kissed her hard.

“Hey what’s going on?” Someone behind them shouted.

“Nothing to do with you.” Aaron shouted back.

Aaron grabbed her hand and started to walk out the room, so they could celebrate in private, but was stopped before they could walk out.

“What are you two up to?” Neil asked.

Aaron smiled, “Just going off to celebrate with my new fiancée.” He dragged Imogen behind him while Neil stood there with his mouth hanging open.

“Got a little surprise for you.” Aaron said as they walked up the stairs and down a familiar hallway and to an even more familiar door which was the same door that Aaron led Imogen to all those months before. He opened the door and Imogen gasped as she took in the rose petal covered bed and candles flickering around the room.

“Wow.” Tears came to her eyes as she took in the bedroom and all the trouble he went to.

“I am hoping they are happy tears.” He walked towards her and dropped down on one knee, he held out his hand which cradled a small box. He looked up at her, “Will you marry me?”

This time where was no hesitation as Imogen jumped on him and shouted, “Yes!”

He laughed as grabbed her up and carried her to the bed and reached back for the ring and slipped the diamond engagement ring onto her finger.

“Now it’s official we need to celebrate. Want a glass of champagne?” He started to get up, but Imogen held onto him.

“Just you.”

Aaron kissed her and spent the night showing how much he appreciated her saying yes.
