Kate could feel the steady beat of his
pulse beneath her palm. She could smell the sweet, intoxicating scent of his
blood as it thrummed through his veins. Katerina rustled within, begging for a
taste of the decadent man in her arms.

Damn it
.
She was thirsty. Try as
she might to deny it, the truth remained, she would always be thirsty. Kate
swallowed the thick lump in her throat

            “I
love you too,” she whispered. “With all my heart. Forever.”

            “Is
it enough,
cara
?” Dominic asked. He must’ve sensed the change in her.

            “It
has to be,” Kate breathed, her inner struggle with her shadow self taking its
toll.

            His
dark brows furrowed in concern. “What if there is no happy ending for us?”

            Any
ending with Dominic was all the happy she needed. The world would stand against
them, but they would stand as one. Kate gave him a reassuring smile. “I don’t
care, as long as I’m with you when it ends.”

Acknowledgements

First,
I want to thank my wonderful husband and sweet children for the sacrifices
they’ve made to see my dream through. Thanks for your patience, dinners in
front of my laptop, and forcing me to take the occasional trip back to reality.
I love you all the mostest of the mostest. I win.

I
would also like to extend my thanks to my RWA comrades. Stanalei Fletcher, as
the RWA welcome wagon and my first critique partner, you have always encouraged
and challenged me. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and keeping me on the
straight and narrow. Warm thanks also to Kelli Ann Morgan, L.L. Muir, Tiffinie
Helmer, and Jude Bown. You ladies have inspired and aided me in ways I can
never repay.

Not
enough thanks can be said to the wonderful online community of writers and
readers I’ve found on Facebook. Thank you for your words of encouragement,
advice, humor, and support.

Last,
but not least, I would like to thank my mother for sharing with me her love of
books. Mom, I’ve come a long way from the days of hiding your romance novels
under my mattress as a kid. I hope you can read this book and be proud of me
for chasing my dreams.
