“Yes, more than anything.”

Footsteps sounded on the porch behind her.
“Did I hear right? We can…” He shook his head and took the last
step while looking between them.

Grace chuckled. “Yes, Gaby is at least part
angel, if that is what you both want.”

Alexander jumped off the step and yanked her
into his arms, spinning her around. His strong arms and
fresh-showered scent made her feel safe and loved. “I can’t believe
it; we’ll never have to be apart again. Like Sammy and Boon.”

“That is, if you get my permission, son.”
Dad mocked from the doorway.

“Um…Bruce?” Alexander stammered

“Just call me Dad.”

Sammy jumped up and down and clapped. “We
can have the ceremony on the beach—”

“The war won’t go anywhere, and we can’t do
anything until the emergency personnel clear the area. Besides, I
don’t know about all of you, but I’m thinking we need to build a
new house,” Grace suggested.

“I’ve already got contractors working on
it,” Boon said. “We’ll go see where they’re at in the morning.”

Gaby knew she should worry and plan for the
upcoming war. That she was the chosen warrior to lead the others. A
job that was monumentally wrong for her, but somehow she had to
take control and fight. For now though, she just wanted to fall
asleep in Alexander’s arms, and after that she’d be one with him,
in every way.
