They bounced back to camp in the sleigh pulled by the caramel-colored pony. Saffron slid off the seat almost immediately, swore, and sat on the floor of the bouncy thing for the rest of the journey. Orji didn’t mind, he enjoyed watching the way her chest popped up with every jounce. Her low-cut ball gown was a refreshing change from the black turtleneck and concealing scarf.

Soon enough, they arrived at camp. Tai and Wo had already packed up — Ny was not in this realm.

Tell us!” Wo sprinted to the sleigh, grabbed hold of the reins, and petted the caramel pony.

Uh,” Saffron grunted and waved him away.

Orji got out of the sleigh, then turned and extended his hand to help Saffron up.

Tai sauntered over. “Saffron, why are you sitting on the
floor?”

Aaaahh!” Wo’s hands fisted and slammed to his chest as he eyed Saffron’s torn dress with utter misery. “What happened to my dress!!”

Saffron looked down at the frayed edges of gold. “Oh,” she replied despondently.

Last night was a flop, boys, don’t even ask.” Orji clapped them both on the back. He looked around at the clean camp. “Do we know where we’re off to?”

Tai sat on the large mushroom, placed a walking stick between his knees, and resumed whittling. His wings fluttered in the breeze. “We met someone who’s seen Ny.”
