Another alien came up to examine Noah. This guy was pasty gray with eyes so narrow Noah couldn’t determine the color of them. But the expression on his face was pretty clear that he was afraid of Noah.
Good
. That would stop him from touching him. His master had pals that thought he was some kind of living sex toy. So far, they’d only fondled him, but Noah didn’t think things were going to stay that tame for long. He feared that eventually, when Hindur got sick of displaying him, he was going to rent him out.

“He’s only decorative?” the pasty gray alien asked Fissure Face.

“From what our host tells me.” Using his disgusting butthole mouth, Fissure Face called out for Hindur, who strode over with a snarl lifting one edge of his lips. His fangs were long, and somewhat inhibited his speaking voice, but the translator in Noah’s head was able to make his words clear. “Is this one only decorative?”

“Yes,” Hindur purred. “Why? Do you think you could handle him?”

“Me?” Fissure Face laughed and sounded like he was farting. “I am not interested in fighting him.”

Coward
.

“Only you would pay a fortune for something to stare at.” The gray alien moved closer and examined Noah’s feet.

“There are other things you could do to him.” Hindur flashed Noah a look that said the time for twisted activities wasn’t that far off.

“I would gladly do other things to him,” Fissure Face said. He reached out and poked the tip of Noah’s flaccid cock as if to prove to himself he wasn’t afraid when he clearly was. “Perhaps that is the way to shatter his arrogant cast of face.”

“I’d rather look arrogant than be butt ugly.”

The Mahadocon blinked his big shit-colored eyes twice. “You dare to speak to me?”

“Your head looks a wrinkly old fanny. When you speak, watching your mouth move is like having a butthole talk to me.”

It took a moment for the translation to come through, but when it did, Noah got a shock that dropped him to his knees.

“If you dare to speak in such a crude manner to one of my guests again, I will have your tongue cut out and your mouth sewn shut.”

“Good. Then you won’t be able to stuff your little dicks in there.”

Another blast of agony caused Noah to curl up into a ball.

“A solid beating or a rousing fuck would take some of that haughtiness away from him,” Fissure Face said.

“But then he would not be so stunning to look at.” Hindur gave him another jolt then ordered him to stand.

Noah wanted to say more, but he wasn’t going to get anywhere verbally abusing Hindur or his guests. After a bit more chatting about his looks, and what they would like to do to him, the group wandered away without molesting Noah. He let out a long sigh and allowed some of the tension to seep out of his shoulders. He didn’t know the name of the planet he was on or how the hell he’d get off it, but Noah knew he had to escape and soon. If he didn’t, he’d never be the same.

A bell chimed, and all the guests started slinking, sliding, and slithering over to the area where the slave auctions happened. Noah stayed put on his pedestal. There was some kind of electronic tether that activated if he left his assigned area. If he moved away from the platform, he was shocked until he got back on. He’d tried to sit once, but that got him punished, too. The best he could figure was the platform itself had some kind of pressure-sensitive mechanism in it.
What a shame that all this cool technology is used to harness and display innocent beings for a jerk and his jerky pals
.

As soon as all the guests were in the back, the big doors closed and all Noah could hear was the sounds of the other slaves in the house. One was crying. Noah looked around, but he couldn’t see him or her. The house was too big. Another was growling in a way that was somehow similar to the sound made by the one crying. Since all of them were different species, Noah imagined they all had their own ways of expressing sorrow.

“That was very foolish.”

Across from Noah was a creature clad in a dark-blue outfit that covered him completely. All Noah could see were the most riveting amethyst eyes. Around his head was what looked like a golden crown, but it wasn’t rigid. Somehow, the metal seemed to be soft. It hugged his head and held the combination robe and veil in place.

Noah opened his mouth to say something, but refrained. Since Noah had to pee, and getting another jolt just might make him soil himself, he decided he should shut the hell up. So far, he’d not had to suffer that particular indignity. He doubted his master would react kindly to him urinating on his floor. Then again, the floor did seem to be made of some kind of polished stone. Perhaps that was for easy cleanup. Noah wouldn’t be surprised to find out Hindur had killed one of his slaves in a fit of pique.

“You seem to be driven to deliberately defy him even though you know he will hurt you.”

“What’s it to you?” Noah wondered if this was some kind of test. Inflicting psychological torture was something that Hindur enjoyed immensely. Days ran into nights, and Noah had no idea what time it was or what day. All he knew was that he would be called on to do Hindur’s bidding.

“I would free you.”

A surge of hope made Noah lean toward the curious alien, but suspicion pushed him back before the tether could activate.

“I see you do not believe me.”

“Why should I?”

“Because I do not lie.”

Noah swore he was hallucinating. The creature’s voice was so impossibly beautiful. It was masculine and powerful, but not the way Hindur’s was strong from bullying. This guy’s voice had the kind of strength that came from absolute faith in who he was and what he could do.

“What do you want with me?” Noah asked because, though he heard the assurance in the man’s voice, he didn’t believe anyone would actually help him. Hindur had an army of well-trained creatures with big eyes, ears, and guns. Even now, out the corner of his eye, Noah saw them prowling around the grounds. As bizarre as it was, they looked an awful lot like humanoid cockroaches. Still, Noah had no desire to test their fighting ability. And he certainly couldn’t step on them like he did the roaches at home.

“I find I want you because you intrigue me.” The alien reached up and lowered the part of his veil that covered his face. “I am Mingor Faur.”

“Holy shit.” Noah couldn’t help himself. Mingor was purple. But not a dark purple like his eyes. Mingor was the exact same shade as the massive lavender farms that Noah passed on his way to the docks. When the flowers came into bloom, the scent was almost overpowering, just like this guy. Not that he smelled bad, not at all. He smelled…fresh, almost like an ocean breeze. It was his very presence that was overwhelming. “What are you?”

Mingor smiled, revealing very human lips and teeth. “I am from Thand, so I suppose that makes me a Thandling.”

“Your eyes are the color of amethysts.”

After a hesitation for the translator, Mingor’s smile deepened. “You compare my eyes to a precious stone?”

Noah nodded. Frankly, he didn’t know how valuable amethysts were, but at the moment he didn’t really care. There was simply nothing more stunning that he could compare Mingor’s eyes to.

“I compare your vivid blue eyes to the backs of the ocean turtles.”

It took a moment for the words to translate into ocean turtles. “Are they ugly?” Noah wasn’t sure if he was being insulted or not.

“To the contrary, they are the most beautiful creatures in all the ocean.” Mingor took another half step closer. “May I have a name to call you by?”

“Noah. Noah Cameron. I’m from Earth.”

“Noah,” Mingor repeated. “It is a strong name that matches your strong back.”

Hope slipped away. This was just another kinky alien who would probably pay a fortune to fuck him. There was no doubt in Noah’s mind that time was coming far faster than he could imagine.

“I say that strictly to praise you, not to as a way to seduce you.”

“No?”

“No.” Mingor said the one word with such conviction that hope slipped right back into Noah’s heart against his valiant efforts to keep it out. Why did he want to believe this alien was any different from any of the others? If he was here in Hindur’s house, he was a purveyor of slaves. That right there made him despicable in Noah’s eyes. But there was something terribly compelling about Mingor. Then again, maybe he only felt that way because unlike the hideous Mahadocon, this Thandling was delicately handsome and far more similar to his own kind. Noah had always been a sucker for slightly built men. Mingor wasn’t human, but he looked like a tall, thin purple twink. Without realizing what he was doing, Noah’s gaze wandered down to Mingor’s hips. With all the draping layers of the robe, he wasn’t able to see anything at all.

“I am male.”

“Right.” Noah yanked his gaze back up to Mingor’s eyes, losing himself in the wicked depths.

“I will free you.”

Why do I sense a
but
coming
? After his encounter with the Mahadocon, Noah was smart enough to keep his mouth shut.

“But you must do something for me.”

Bingo
. “What’s that?”

“You must enslave yourself to me.”

Chapter 2

Mingor waited anxiously for the stunning Earthling to consider the merits of his offer. After what the brutal Vaugar had done to him, Mingor didn’t think Noah would trust anyone, but that was not Mingor’s primary concern. He needed Noah. He couldn’t free him from this house only to watch him walk away.

“What do you want me for?” Noah shook his head. “Don’t tell me. You want to put me on display at your house?”

“I do not live in a place like this. I also do not believe in putting sentient beings on display as if they were inanimate objects.” Mingor understood what the Vaugar wished to do, which was impress upon his visitors that he lived in such luxury he possessed slaves that were purely decorative. Hindur’s motive was abhorrent but easily understandable. Generally, his desire to impart excessive affluence was successful. But not on Mingor. Stripped of his riches, removed from his plush surroundings, Hindur was simply a frightened soul in desperate need of reassurance. Material wealth gave him that. Unfortunately, it never kept him protected for long. Once he had something, like the stunning Noah, Hindur then became exceedingly worried that someone would steal him. So he then surrounded him with protective systems. Hindur then added a layer of soldiers to protect all the things in his home. In turn, he did not trust
them
to protect him, so he hired others to verify his soldiers’ loyalty. It was a destructive circle that would eventually collapse upon itself.

“You don’t seem to have a problem owning sentient beings as slaves.”

Actually, Mingor did not own any slaves, but telling Noah wouldn’t result in him believing that truth. He would only come to know what kind of a soul Mingor was by being in his presence. So he simply assured him, “You would not be my slave.”

“No?”

“No.”

Noah hesitated for only a moment. “What would I be?”

“You would be my
sephir
.” After a moment, the word was translated into
shield
. Mingor wasn’t certain if that was the same thing as his intended meaning. Judging by the confused twist of Noah’s angular features, it was not. “I need you to protect me.”

“From what?”

“There are so many dangers.” Mingor had gone to several galactic slave auctions looking for the right type of
sephir
. He’d not even come close to what he needed until he’d seen Noah. When he found out he wasn’t for sale, he despaired, but then realized there were other ways of getting what he needed.

“Why would anyone want to hurt a pretty purple guy like you?”

It was a flattering comment made to obscure Noah’s deep desire to know exactly what kind of situation he was getting into. As much as Mingor wanted to tell him in excruciating detail, he simply couldn’t. “Because I have power. When one has power, there is always someone else who wants to take it away.” Mingor cast his attention toward the closed doors where Hindur’s auction was underway. “He sells them to keep his hold on his authority.”

“Hindur is one sick fuck. He sells children.”

Mingor bowed his head, praying for the souls of those poor beings.

“I want to kill him.”

“Hindur?”

“Yeah.”

“It would not stop the sickness. One of his kind would simply rise up and take his place.”

“Then I’ll kill him, too.”

“Then you will die old, sad, and saturated in blood because they will keep coming.” Sick souls abounded in the universe. It was a tragedy, but killing all of them would not stop them from rising up and twisting the beauty of life to fit their diseased view. Killing only kept the disease attached to the soul. Noah had to learn that violence would solve nothing.

“How can you say that? Don’t you care that he’s enslaving children?”

“I care, but I do not see how I can change what is.” Mingor considered the Earthling again. He was determined to impose his view upon others. Noah’s passion was curious to Mingor. The notion of morality was very strong in Noah. Perhaps the strongest of any soul he had yet met. “I find myself further impressed by your strong sense of right and wrong.”
