For my children who have constant faith in me even though my covers embarrass them within their group of friends. No, Mom does not write porn, she writes love stories.

An invisible thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break. May you be open to each thread that comes into your life—the golden one and the course ones—any may you weave them into a beautiful and brilliant life.

—Ancient Chinese Proverb

I’D BEEN WAITING
for over twenty minutes, and on beer number two for a man I had tried to forget existed. When he called, after all this time, his voice urgent, too much so for me to pass on his request, I hauled ass regardless of how long it had been. Almost fifteen damn years since I had seen my best friend, and the last time wasn’t the most pleasant for either one of us.

I would never forget the look on his face when he walked in after his wife sucked me off like a damn Hoover vacuum. She caught me off guard. Way off guard. We had been celebrating his new job at the DEA office, a promotion, and we all had too much to drink. My own girl at the time was in the backyard waiting for me to take her home, when I excused myself to take a piss before heading out.

I took another sip of my beer, shut my eyes and scrubbed my hand down my face recalling that night.

“I’ll be right back, babe. Then we’ll go, yeah?” I kissed Dawn quickly.

Dawn nodded and went back to talking to Thomas about a ride we had coming up. I drove a Harley, and she had been excited to head out on her first real road trip with me and some friends. She couldn’t stop going on about it to anyone who would listen. Thomas and Christina used to ride this trip but since Everly, their little girl came along a couple years back they’d stopped. I made my way to the rear of the house and had slipped into the bathroom without closing the door, thinking no one was inside but me. I had just unzipped my jeans when the door shut. She just stood there, mouth agape like she’d never seen a cock before. I turned my back to her to avoid the awkwardness. “Darling, you need something?”

As soon as her fingers turned that lock I knew I was in trouble. “Christina, what the fuck are you doing?”

Without saying anything she moved closer, obvious want in her eyes. I shook my head and tucked my dick back inside my pants knowing I was like a sitting duck. “Whatever it is you’re thinking, it ain’t happening. Thomas is my best friend.” I swallowed hard as she inched her way closer, licking her lips.

Cristina was beautiful. Probably the most gorgeous woman I had ever laid eyes on, but she was off limits. I knew this. She knew this. Part of me was in shock, and the other part was half excited and half disgusted.

“No one has to know,” she whispered in my ear and then ran her tongue down the side of my face.

“Fuck!”

It was cliché, but it happened just like you always heard. I had that one bad angel and that one good one sitting on each shoulder throwing advice in my ears simultaneously. Unfortunately, my brain and my dick were only registering the bad, once her hand slipped down and pulled my cock back out. “This is a bad fucking idea,” I grunted out.

She moaned and dropped to her knees. “I’ve always wondered what it would be like to suck you off.” She dropped that little bomb, which quickly got me hard as a fucking rock. But, I knew I couldn’t do it. Not to Thomas. He was one of the only people I had ever cared for in my life. “I can’t.” I tried to push her away, but she didn’t budge.

Her mouth bound around me anyway, even as I protested for her to stop. She wouldn’t and who was I kidding? I was a man with a warm, wet mouth wrapped around my ready to explode cock. Once she got going, I wouldn’t stop her, and she knew it. I braced my hands on the wall as she took me all the way in, cupping my balls and squeezing them gently. “Yeah, keep going. Fuck! You keep sucking me like that, and I’m gonna come quick.”

I’d had my share of blowjobs, but damn she sucked like it was her day job.

Bam! Bam! Bam! “I need to pee. I need to pee,” Everly’s little voice screamed through the closed door, halting us both. I looked down pissed I let myself get in this position, pissed that I gave in and really pissed that I was going to lose my best friend if he ever found out.

“Get up, Chris,” I ordered her, but she just smiled wickedly up at me, her tongue licking its way up my shaft.

She unhinged her mouth from my dick for one beat. “Be right out, baby girl,” she yelled to her and then returned all her attention to my dick.

I shook my head wanting this whole, stupid, fucked up moment to stop, but her mouth felt like heaven and at that point I needed to come. And I did. I came hard, and she milked every last drop with those damn painted on ruby red lips. She wiped her mouth with the hem of my shirt with a wicked grin on her face. “Next time you do me.” My brain went caput. I couldn’t figure out how the hell, or why the hell I just allowed that to go down. Everly’s little voice was booming right outside the door as Christina blew a kiss my way. “Jump and hide in the shower.” And I was just about ready to when Thomas used the skeleton key to pop the lock to see what was going on.

He turned around to address Everly. “Baby, go use the one in Mommy and Daddy’s room, will ya?”

“Why can’t I use this one? I have to go. I have to go,” she cried harder, cupping her privates.

“Baby, go upstairs and use the other one. Now!” he ordered, and she finally moved her little body away from the three of us and scurried on out. Once she was clear, he turned to us, eyes filled with rage, disgust, and uncertainty. “What the fuck is going on in here?”

Christina opened her mouth to talk, but he shut her down. “And, don’t lie to me. I know when you lie, Chris.” He stopped focusing on her and moved his glare to me. “You touch my wife?”

I shook my head. “No, man.” It wasn’t a complete lie. I never laid a hand on her. Not even to grab her head to take my cock in farther. She didn’t need any help.

He continued to glare at me and then to her in silence waiting for one of us to come clean. “I was going to the bathroom, baby and Dawson came in and forced himself on me.”

Stupefied at her little lie, I turned to her. “I did what? What the fuck is wrong with you? You came on to me, Chris. Don’t blame me for this.”

“Get out of my house,” Thomas roared. “Go!”

“Tom, man, she’s lying to you. Let me explain!”

There we were; the three of us squished into a bathroom when Dawn came around the corner as Thomas continued yelling at me to leave. “What’s wrong?”

“Your boy can’t seem to keep his dick in his pants. Better you know now what a damn player he is. He fucks anything, and apparently anybody over.”

“Fuck you, Thomas. I didn’t fuck her. I didn’t come after her. She came onto me. Your wife is the slut here, not me. Yeah, I gave in, and I’m fucking sorry, brother. I just… she dropped before I could stop her and…”

“Shut the fuck up and get out,” he yelled, his fists balled at his sides. He was so loud I wouldn’t be surprised if the neighbors heard.

Slowly, I peered around at Dawn, who I was really starting to fall for and the hurt spread across her face before she ran off, and then to Thomas, who was furious. Fuck this! I unzipped my pants and pulled out my dick, and held it in my hand. “You see this?” Their eyes zeroed in on my cock. “Whose lipstick shade is this? Not my girl’s. That shit is your wife’s.” I zipped up. “Now, I’m leaving.”

I hated remembering that day. I hated I was too weak to push her away, to say no. I hated I fucked over my best friend, the only person I ever considered my family. I hated that I lost him over a woman—the one thing we promised a long time ago, back when we were teenagers, that we would never go to war over.

I lifted my finger signaling to the waitress for another round when a familiar, yet older face sat across from me. “Make it two.” His eyes came back to me. “Dawson,” he greeted me.

“Thomas, it’s been a long time.” He slumped into the seat. I hadn’t seen him in years, but he looked pretty much the same with maybe a few signs of aging around his tired eyes. “You sounded panicked on the phone. I haven’t heard from you in over fifteen years, so I imagine whatever it is you have to tell me that it’s important.”

The waitress delivered the drinks, scurrying away to the next table. He waited until she was far enough away to begin. “I’m in trouble. I gotta go under.”

Not what I expected. “How long?”

“Six months, maybe more. She’s not safe. I was keeping an eye out, but if they find her once I’m gone.” He growled but continued, “I have everything you need to watch her.”

“Whoa!” I held up my hands. “Find someone else to take care of your wife. Not to sound heartless, but you chose her over me when you wrote me off. Why the fuck would I help her? She wrecked our friendship, Tom. She wrecked everything.”

“You both did.” He leaned over the table slightly, his glare unwavering. “I forgave her, but I never forgot, Dawson. I had Everly to think of. My choice was to save our family and that’s what I did. I would not lose my baby girl because of her.”
