"
Yes," she whispered, running her fingers up into my hair. "Make me scream."

The hungry lock of her eyes on mine made my heart skip a beat. She needed more than to scream. She needed to be torn down. She needed her soul torn asunder because she was trapped in her own skin, her own instincts. She needed me to save her from herself. Break her. Remake her.

I began moving inside her, gradually building speed. She held my gaze with a fierce trust as I carried her to that place she needed to go. That burning crossroad where
here
met
there
. Where
death
met
life.
Where
my
baby met
me.
I brought her there with an uncompromising love, and I bound here there with the sacred whispers of
mine.

All fucking mine.

It was a strange déjà vu sitting with Tara at the fancy table in the fancy room at the Dom Wars central headquarters. The monitors finally flickered to life after enduring the nauseating seven course meal we were required to pretend to eat before eliminations were announced. Who the fuck could eat, seriously? Were they nuts?

Steve was with us this time and I found his odd smiling presence comforting. We scored at a team, he said. Wished I had known that, or I would have watched him closer. I couldn't really recall anything detrimental except that we'd cheated with him disclosing the information about assignment number two. No indication had been given we'd been found out. Yet.

Danielle came up to the podium, reinforcing the déjà vu sensation in the air. I grabbed Tara
's hand under the table and sighed in relief that she let me hold it. Before I knew it, they were putting up the flags of those who would remain in the competition. Tara's hand strangled mine as flag after flag faded in, telling which countries still remained in the competition. I'd lost track of how many as I watched for red white and blue to appear. It didn't.

I looked at Tara, dread hitting my stomach and Steve shot up from his chair.
"We won!"

I jerked to the screen to see the American flag at the very bottom.

"Whoops, sorry about that glitch," Danielle said with a stupid laugh.

Tara and I both collapsed into each other and embraced, exhaustion setting in instantly as the tension of the last eight hours left us. Fucking glitch... Jesus Christ.

"Baby, you did it," she whispered. "You. This was all you. I owe you so much." She held my face and kissed me.

"As you can see, only nine countries will move to the fourth round. Demon Domination will continue and the second member of the team will face off their demons, just like the first member did. Of course we're not going to tell you all of the details. Can't have you rehearsing anything, now can we?" Hahahahahahhaa.

Tara groaned and winced like the woman
's laugh was worse than nails down a chalk board.

"
So, again, you have two days to take care of personal business before we have you back here to begin round four. Demon Domination." She said it with a wooooooo and arm pump before looking our way.

"
Are you ready Lucian? To dominate your demons? Is Tara ready to help you?" Hahahahahahahah. "I'm sure you two will make this country proud."

More unimportant announcements ensued and Tara patted me on the shoulder then shook it. I looked at her and she quirked her brow.
"You ready Mr. Bane?" She angled her head and ducked in and out of my line of vision. "You got any demons hiding in there? Some crazy ghosts?" She burst out in snorting snickers then leaned in with a muttered, "Thank God you didn't have a fucked up life like mine, babe. Round four is in the bag," she finished, barely moving her lips.

I took up my glass of champagne and saluted her.
"No fucked up life here, love." I winked and downed the bubbly bitterness then set it on the table. "No demons in this past." Because it fucking ate
demons for breakfast.
