My body ached for release, but the knowledge of so many strangers in the room prevented me from getting there.

I did not prevent one of the women screaming out with pleasure.

The gentleman practicing with her complained as she had apparently squirted a substance at him.

Until then, I had no knowledge of female ejaculation.

Linda took a moment to scold her partner then educate us on female ejaculation.

“That term doesn’t sound any more pleasant than squirting,” I whispered to David.

“Do you do that?” He asked, panic on his face.

“I never have done that before.

But there are a lot of things I’ve never done.

I think you’re safe though.”

I whispered to him so as not to get scolded by Linda.

He grinned at me and nodded.

“Class, this is the end of today’s session.

We will reconvene Wednesday evenings at six sharp from now on.”

She gave us refreshments and suggested we clear out within the next half hour.

“I’m not asking you on a date,” David started.

“Thanks?”

“What I meant to say was, well I wanted to ask,” he fumbled with his words.

“Really, just spit it out man!”

I teased.

“Wanna go for coffee?”

He asked.

“I really need to talk about this class and because of the paper we signed the only person I can talk to is you, or well, the others, but I’m less acquainted with them obviously.”

I was unable to contain the snicker.

“Obviously.”

When I saw his face redden, I quickly followed up with, “but sure.”

ENDING THE HIATUS

Having my clothes back on helped me feel a bit more comfortable.

Though sitting across from David in the coffee house while we waited for our beverages felt incredibly awkward.

“I’m beginning to question Linda’s professionalism,”

I blurted.

David’s eyes widened.

“Right?

I mean getting people half naked and having them emulate sex, I’m pretty sure isn’t in any medical journal.”

The server slid our cappuccinos to us and excused herself.

“I have a friend that suggested her.

If it weren’t for that, I would have never signed that paper.”

I sipped at my drink.

“Yum, the mocha is good, how is the vanilla?”

He looked at me dumbfounded.

“You really want to know about my cappuccino?”

I sighed.

Socially awkward was a familiar place for me.

“Um,” he said then took a sip, “It’s strong, velvety and has the perfect amount of steamed milk foam for my taste.”

He shook his head.

“Why do you think she had us in that room, doing those things?”

“Why would you ask me?”

I gripped my cup a little firmer, shifting in my chair.

“You seem intelligent.

I work with my hands.

I’m good from the neck down.

Figuring you for an educated woman, I guess I thought you would have a better insight to this.”

I looked at him.

He was shifting in his chair and had a death grip on his cup as well.

He was just as uncomfortable as I was.

So I thought about Linda’s session.

“Okay, let’s figure this out.

Why did you see her?”

His face lost color.

After looking around the room, he leaned in a bit cautiously.

“I’m painfully shy.

I don’t really know what I’m doing with women.

When I do have girlfriends, they always seem to be bored in bed, then because I worry about satisfying them, I have, uh, issues.”

The look of shock on my face must have been apparent.

“What?” he asked.

“I’m telling the truth.”

I waved my hand, “No, no, it’s not that I think you’re lying, it’s just that . . .”

Just say it.

Why is sex so damned hard to discuss for me
?

“You were rock hard in there and you didn’t even know me.”

He stared at his cup as he gently swirled

the contents.

“So, does that give you any ideas?”

“Well, I have limited experience myself.

Before last night, I hadn’t had sex with anyone other than myself in over a year.”

He looked ill again.

“You had sex last night?”

Dear Lord, he just had his face down there!

“Oh God!

It was… uh…it wasn’t a guy.”

His mouth fell open.

“You’re a lesbian?”

He laughed.

“Figures.”

“What is that supposed to mean?”

“Figures that the first hot woman I meet is gay.

That’s just my luck.”

He laughed and shook his head waving over the server.

“No, I’m not gay.”

I protested quietly.

“It was the first time I had done anything like that.”

I paused while he asked the server for two more cappuccinos.

“Look,” I started as soon as she walked away, “seems to me that Linda’s little sessions might be to make us a bit more casual about sex and not so uptight, which we clearly both are.

Last night I got drunk, and I happened to take a lesbian home unbeknownst to me.

As I said,” I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, “it’s been a very long time.”

“So you don’t think she’s some pervert who goes into another room and plays with herself after watching us dry hump each other?”

I laughed out loud.

So loud in fact that everyone turned to look at me.

My face burned red.

“Nope, I’m pretty sure that’s true too.

She seemed to like the control.”

David smoothed his hands on his jeans and looked around nervously.

“I’m um, sorry I couldn’t hold back in the session.”

“Please stop apologizing.

Look, I’m nervous as hell and unfortunately, I’m a smoker.

Do you mind if we take these to go?”

David politely agreed and within moments we were walking.

Caffeine and nicotine just do wonders together.

I began to relax a little.

“So do you think we will keep our partners or do you think she’ll switch it up a bit?” he asked.

“Who knows?

I had no idea what was going to happen today.”

I looked at David.

He seemed nonthreatening enough.

After all, he was in the same situation I was in.

Obviously he was no predator.

“Where are we walking?” he asked.

“I figured we’d go hang out at my place where the coffee isn’t as good, but a fraction of the price.

I can smoke there all I want and we can be inside.

It looks like it’s going to rain.”

“My car is actually one block away.

How far do you live?”

He had a shy smile.

Only half of his mouth turned upward.

“I was actually walking to the train, but if you have a car, I’ll just give you directions if that’s okay.” Getting in a car with a stranger.

My mother would have a heart attack.

He nodded and led me to his car.

It was nicer to take a car than sit in a train, which stunk like gyros and body odor.

The car ride was pleasant.

His car was a bit dusty, but there wasn’t any garbage lying around.

The backseat was full of plans, tools and a hard hat.

“Thank you, by the way.”

“Turn right at the next street and park anywhere two blocks up.”

I directed.

“What are you thanking me for?”

He didn’t answer at first.

He searched carefully for a spot then concentrated while he parked.

“Thank you for being so nice.

For not getting upset when I couldn’t contain myself in therapy and for agreeing to talk to me.

This has been so hard for me to accept.

Guys don’t want to admit to sexual failure.

We’re supposed to demean women and go through them like tic tacs.”

“Just to be clear, you’re not a serial killer or anything?”

He lost color in his face again.

This guy was too easy. “What?”

“Just kidding.

I’m over here,” I said as I entered the security code for my building.

We didn’t talk again as we walked up the stairs to my apartment.

“Isn’t there an elevator?” he asked.

“Yeah, but I am too impatient.

It takes forever to come to the ground floor.

It’s only six stories up.

Come on.”

When I opened the door to my apartment, I saw the look of astonishment on David’s face.

I don’t think he expected the two thousand square foot apartment I bought myself after my divorce.

I made good money, why not have room to grow?

“Nice place!”

“I have an ionizer, so the smoke shouldn’t bother you.

But looking at the time, it’s nearly nine o’clock.

Would you like something other than coffee?”

I threw my keys on the table and headed into the kitchen.

“I’ll have whatever you’re having, unless it’s diet.

I don’t like diet stuff.”

He straddled one of my bar stools at my center island.

Damn he was hot.

I have a hot guy in my apartment.

I began worrying about my new toys.

Did I leave them laying around?

“Have you ever had an espresso martini?”

I started gathering glasses out of my cupboard.

“No, but I like strong coffee.

Coffee and alcohol can’t be a bad combination.”

He smiled.

He had a sexy smile.

I shook my head.

Damn he’s sexy
.

I brewed the espresso and started mixing the martinis.

“My martini is pretty bad ass, but I have to tell you, I go to this bar and I’d kill to know what the bartender there does.

They just taste so much better than mine.”

He was watching me move.

I could feel his eyes burning into my skin.

What did I do?

I didn’t know this man and now here I was helpless in my home with him behind locked doors.

“Does he float whole coffee beans in the drink?” he asked.

I thought about it for a minute.

“Yeah, I always thought that was a waste of beans.”
