Raze took my hand. “You look stunning. Here I thought you were suffering from malnutrition and torture.”
The demons left their seats and a few created fireballs. They eyed Raze with glares of hate and death, probably with slow dismemberment on their minds.
“Are we flying out of here?” I asked breathlessly.
“Nope. Ariana worked a spell with your mom and Brittany.” He took my hand and tugged me toward the doors. “We don’t have much time before the portal closes.”
“Shiloh! Wait! Come back here!” Trent’s voice drowned the room in thunderous anger. I glanced back at my would-be groom surrounded by an aura of darkness and fire. “Kill the immortal!” he commanded.
Goodbye, Trent.
Several fireballs were launched over our heads and Raze and I crouched. He led me through the doors and swung back around to close them. He stuck a discarded spear through the door handles. The doors rattled in their frame as the demons trapped on the other side rammed into them.
Raze pointed at the doorway. “
Demons trapped within be controlled and mine. Become as one with my mind, I hold thee fast, to make this last, open not, as I weave the knot
.”
The magick from the spell sparkled around the entrance like a giant wall.
“That won’t hold them for long,” he said. “Come on, the portal’s just up ahead.”
Not ten feet away in the middle of the corridor was a swirling sphere of bright light.
“We must hurry!” Raze insisted.
But I hesitated, my heart torn in two. As my world unraveled around me, it became clear that my destiny lay in one of two heartbreaking choices: vanquish Trent or join him in the Underworld.
If I left now, he might be lost forever…
Raze squeezed my hand, and I gazed into his eyes. “Together?” I asked.
He nodded, and we jumped.
