“May I join you?” he asked.

“Absolutely,” Maddie replied.

Maddie sat forward as he positioned himself behind her on the chaise. She then relaxed against his muscular chest.

“Howard called. He said he had found Raquel and she would be facing criminal charges for setting the fire and attempting to murder you,” he said.

“But I will not be pressing charges,” Maddie said. “I just want her out of our lives.”

“Maybe not. But the district attorney will be,” he said. “Howard feels that it’s time that she’s held accountable for her actions; even if he is paying to restore Matt’s house. With Howard’s influence she will probably only receive a stiff fine and lengthy probation. But that’s better than nothing.”

“Something tells me that Howard has his own punishment in mind,” Maddie mused.

“Which will be worse than any punishment the justice system could give her,” Whit said. “Making Raquel waitress and volunteer in soup kitchens would be torture for her.”

“And very deserving,” Maddie chuckled. She turned to face him. “Now, to more important matters. Did I thank you for saving my life?”

Whit smiled.

“Only a thousand times at least,” he chuckled.

“Well, one more time won’t hurt. Thank you for saving me. I owe you my life,” she said seriously.

“You owe me nothing. I would save you as many times as it took to keep you by my side,” he swore.

Maddie was thoughtful for a moment. She looked into his beautiful blue eyes.

“Did you mean it when you said you loved me?” she asked softly.

Whit smiled at her.

“I meant every word of it. I love you, Madison with every fiber of my being,” he said softly. “The day I met you at Jules wedding was the day you changed my life forever. I knew I had to have you in every way.”

Maddie looked at him in awe.

“I can hardly believe you are saying that. It’s what I’ve wanted to hear from you for so long,” she whispered. “I love you too, Whit. So very much. I ache just thinking about it.”

“Don’t say that. I never want to cause you pain,” he said.

“But it’s the most glorious pain that I will ever know. And I can’t live without it. You have made me the happiest woman alive,” she grinned.

“Say you’ll marry me, Madison. Make me complete. Share the rest of my life with me,” Whit implored.

“Yes, Whit. I will marry you. I would marry you a thousand times if that would make you happy,” she said merrily.

“One time will be enough for I’ll never let you go. I love you, sweetheart,” he said softly.

“And I love you, my darling,” she murmured.

He lowered his mouth and kissed her for a very long time.

Here is a sneak peak of
Desire - Part Three
.

Matthew Edelston wandered through his newly designed home with a sense of pleasure and pride. Maddie McClain had done an excellent job in decorating the lavish house; inside and out. He moved to the floor to ceiling windows in the living salon and looked out at his expansive lawn. He was startled to see someone taking pictures of the house. He bristled. Matt had not given anyone permission to photograph his property. He valued his privacy and would not tolerate its violation. He stormed out onto the portico.

"Get off my property. You're trespassing. You have no permission to be here," he yelled.

The photographer turned to stare at him in consternation. He walked across the lawn purposefully. He stood on the paved circular drive and pulled off his baseball cap in irritation. Long, shiny dark hair tumbled from its confines. Matt caught his breath. The photographer wasn't a 'he' but a 'she'. She impatiently pushed the thick, wavy locks away from her face.

"I absolutely have permission to be here and I'm not leaving until I've finished," she snapped.

Matt was intrigued that the photographer was a woman and flabbergasted at her gall. He needed to put her in her place and send her packing. But the fierce, determined look on her beautiful face made him want to invite her in for tea instead of booting her off of his property. Who was she? Why was she here? Matt determined to find out.

"In that case I shall have to teach you some much needed lessons in proper etiquette," Matt said. "When one is asked to leave, they should leave."

He slowly descended the portico steps. He saw the flare of fright in her stunning grey eyes and thought this was going to be fun.
