He pulled me into our bedroom. “I have a lot of work to do. Will you wait for me in bed?”

“Of course. You’re worrying me, Gabe.”

“I promise everything will be fine. I won’t leave this room. Now go to bed and warm it up for me.”

It was the first time I’d seen goose bumps on Gabe’s arms.

He clicked on his laptop and turned the bright screen down.

I removed my robe and jumped into the bed. Its cool sheets assaulted my body.

Gabe sat by the desk for what seemed like hours. The tapping on his keyboard became repetitive and began to lull me to sleep like the ocean’s waves. I forced my eyes open, hoping the next few clicks would be the last, and I would feel Gabe’s body snuggled against mine, but they weren’t.

Once in a while, Gabe frowned. At two in the morning, the lamp on his desk had turned on. The light from the pool downstairs emanated up toward our floor, and I knew Gabe must have felt safe enough to turn the electricity back on.

Sometime between four and five in the morning his cool body met mine in bed. He cocooned around me, held me tight and fell asleep.

I welcomed the safety of his embrace and returned to my dreams.

* * *

Waking to the smell of fresh coffee, my skin itched. Gabe was fast asleep, and I didn’t want to wake him. I kissed him, and went to take a shower. After, I put on some shorts and a tee shirt and tiptoed downstairs.

In the kitchen, Kendra sat by the island, whispering to someone I couldn’t see.

“Hi. Gabe’s still sleeping,” I said.

“Hi.” Kendra turned. There was a special glow on her face I hadn’t seen in ages.

When she moved to the side, I saw Tristan sat behind the kitchen counter, his eyes tired and clouded with pain. He looked like he’d been up all night too.

“This is Tristan,” she said.

“Nice to meet you.” He put out his hand for a shake as if he were meeting me for the first time. Even in his exhausted state, Tristan looked as hot as he had yesterday. Tanned to perfection, his dark eyes glistened in the morning light with a spark similar to Gabe’s.

“Hello, Tristan.”

“I need to take Kendra out to settle a debt or two. Gabe knows she’s coming with me. Please tell him she’ll be back this afternoon. I’ll get in touch with him soon,” he said.

“What about your anklet?” I looked at her foot where the black brace was supposed to be.

Kendra twirled the metal on her forefinger. “I’m free!”

“A few hours only,” Tristan reminded her. “I promised Gabe I’d have you back by dinner. He worked hard last night to arrange our meeting.”

“Good enough for me,” Kendra said.

The way she looked at Tristan reminded me of how I admired Gabe. Was she still in love with him?

The floor under my soles cooled my feet. The condensed heat of my footprints remained on the marble behind me for a few seconds. Shivers of excitement ran through me. I hoped my surprise for Gabe worked. After a long night, it was his turn to relax. A small bowl of fresh fruits with a can of whipped cream rested on the counter. I hopped up onto the cold surface and sat, waiting.

Stretching my legs forward, I started with my toes, decorating each one with a touch of cream. A blueberry rested on the center of each mound. And then came the difficult part. Supporting myself on my elbows, I sprayed the cream over my freshly waxed triangle. The coolness of the white fluff tickled me as I imagined Gabe licking it off. A cherry embellished the lower tip of the shape. I lay down flat, and squeezed the nozzle onto my nipples and placed a strawberry on top of each one.

Examining myself in the mirror above, I didn’t recognize the woman in the reflection. Sexiness beamed from her eyes, like a goddess. Her perfect hourglass curves had me open my mouth, and I understood why Gabe had always told me to close it. The perfect round hole made by my lips looked like it invited a man in.

The alarm clock on Gabe’s bed side table rang.

“Sam?” he called.

“I’m downstairs,” I yelled.

Gabe would be here in a few minutes.

Soon, I heard the sound of naked footsteps coming downstairs. I wanted to look to my right to see Gabe’s reaction but, if I moved, the flowers I’d scattered over my hair would fall off.

I heard him stop. The shades on the windows darkened, and a sound of a deep breath brought a smile to my face.

“What if someone else walked in?” Gabe came to the counter.

I saw his beautiful reflection above and noted his immediate arousal from my offering.

“No one’s here. Tristan already picked up Kendra. They took Clara with them so she could pick up some supplies. Besides, we missed dessert last night. And I’m pretty sure you mentioned something about me wearing my birthday suit for breakfast.” I bit my lip. “I hope you’re hungry.”

Gabe strolled to me, pulling his finger along my skin from the under curve of my breast, down my belly, thighs, and knees toward my feet.

“You have no idea, Samantha.” He lowered his head to my toes and licked the cream off each one. His hands took hold of my soles and began massaging.

The sensation of each lick and gentle suck on my toes sent fire up my body, concentrating in one spot. I hoped the cream under the cherry wouldn’t melt before Gabe got there.

He pressed my feet in the same pressure points he had touched in the tub, the ones that tingled right in between my legs. I wondered whether I could hold on for long enough.

“You’re not playing fair,” I accused, giggling. The strawberries on my breasts bobbed up and down.

“Who said anything about playing, fair, Samantha? Are you being fair, covering up the most delicious parts of your body?”

I couldn’t help but giggle again as he finished the last toe.

“I shall request this kind of breakfast every morning.” Gabe’s hands skimmed up my leg to my thighs. He lifted himself up on the counter and sat over my legs.

Up above, I saw his erection, and I wasn’t sure if it was just the reflection, but it seemed bigger than usual.

Holding onto my hips, Gabe lowered his head and picked up the cherry with his teeth. He crouched on all fours over me and brought the cherry to my mouth.

I accepted the fruit and lingering kiss that came with it. The taste of cream flowed from Gabe’s mouth to mine, and the pressure below my waist grew. Every part of my body ached to have him clean me where the cherry rested. Gabe hadn’t shaved this morning, which I found unlike him. He knew very well how I felt about unshaved men. Was he waiting for me to do it?

“Sharing is caring,” he said, backing up to his previous spot.

He lowered his head to my hip bone, kissed it, and then trailed his tongue just above the cream line to my other hip bone, kissing that one too. His short stubble tickled my belly.

“You didn’t shave?” I said.

“That’s right.”

“Are you waiting for me to help you?”

“No, you’ll know why soon enough.”

He returned to my hip bone again.

My hips shifted a little higher.

“Impatient, aren’t we? Is there something specific you’d like me to do, Sam?”

The joy in his voice made me wonder whether this was a good idea. This was torture. I thought I’d be much better at self-control. “Yes.”

“Say it.”

“Eat me.”

“And?” He kissed lower.

“Lick me.”

“And?” His lips touched the top line of the white triangle.

“Make me cum.”

“As you please.” With that, his tongue dove into the cream, licking it all off to get to the prize. He moved my feet higher, and I was forced to bend my knees. Gabe rested his mouth between my legs, his stubble tickling the insides of my thighs, increasing the sensation of him being there that much more.

At that moment, I understood why he hadn’t shaved. Each movement of his face against my flesh gently scraped me, sending new delight and awareness toward my center. I moaned at the first touch of his tongue on my cooled skin. The feel of his full mouth was excruciating.

His lips closed around me as he began devouring his dessert. He spread me with his fingers, drawing his tongue between the folds down to my opening. He slid a finger inside me, and I squeezed around it, pushing my center under him again. Like an expert, he returned to my swollen nub.

In the mirror above us, I admired the muscles on his back, and the way his head bobbed up and down. His left hand squeezed my hip as I bucked against his face. I wanted to put my hands on his head, run my fingers through his hair, and press him harder onto me, but I couldn’t ruin the decorations on my breasts. I pressed my soles on the counter. My palms spread flat on the surface, holding myself steady under him.

He flicked his tongue faster, suckling every few moments as if he wanted to clean the last drops of cream that crept between my folds. The hot air from his breath cooled the heat I felt on the tip and with the next flick I climaxed, shaking.

Gabe licked me up and down, waiting until the jitters flying through my body had settled and my limbs relaxed. He returned to my clit, kissing and nurturing the remnants of my orgasm.

My legs collapsed to the kitchen counter. Usually, I’d be worn out, but now all I wanted was to feel Gabe inside me.

Gabe’s lips moved to my nipple. The crunch of his mouth and the sweet smell of strawberry slid along my body. He cleaned my breast with one big lick, pulling my pebbled flesh with his teeth.

The bite sent a surge of pleasure from my breasts down between my legs, and Gabe moved to the other side. This time he lifted the strawberry with his teeth and brought it to my mouth. The sweet juice flowed from his tongue to mine as he passed the fruit. Gabe’s erection glided along my inner thigh as I spread my legs for him.

He returned to my breast and worked it with his mouth again, pulling my nipple with his teeth. I felt myself getting wetter for him with each touch of his lips.

“I need you in me, Gabe,” I whispered.

A primitive growl sounded from the back of his throat. At the invitation, he pulled himself up. His creamy mouth pressed to mine and he slid into me, filling me to my depths on the first entry. The intensity of his kiss and his longing mouth had me melting into his body as he pressed against me and pushed his slick cock in and out.

I slid back on the granite counter. The cool surface extinguished the heat under my body for a moment.

Gabe wouldn’t let go of my mouth. His kiss was deep and fervent, like it was the last time he would have me.

I tightened my legs around his hips, tying myself to him with my limbs as if they were the strings I now wanted to hold us together, permanently.

He took me into his arms and lifted me up. With my legs around him he knelt, holding my ass.

I pressed upward as his starved plunges stayed completely inside me, stimulated by my circling hips. I held him in my arms feeling myself tighten around his shaft.

He pushed in for one last time, spilling. “Oh, God!” He pulled his mouth away from mine vocalizing his release.

I kissed his cheek, and his nose, and his chin. Gabe didn’t let me go, and I held my arms around his neck.

“I will never get enough of you,” he said.

“Ditto,” I whispered.

“I think we’re beyond a fling, and it’s...it’s—”

“—it’s scary,” I finished

He nodded, looking into my eyes. “It is.”

Gabe lifted me into his arms and off the counter, lowering me to the floor. “You’re the best breakfast I’d ever had.”

“Good.” I put on my robe.

“I don’t think I’ll ever eat at that counter without thinking of you two.” Kendra’s rosy scent floated into the kitchen.

I scooted behind Gabe as he grabbed a kitchen cloth and wrapped it around his waist, holding the short fabric in the back.

“Don’t worry, I didn’t watch you. Although, I must say, I wish I had.” She examined the mess we’d made.

“I thought you wouldn’t be back until the afternoon,” I said.

“Tristan’s plans didn’t go as well as he expected. He’s waiting for you at the front, Gabe.” She crossed her arms. The uneasiness of her body language had me worried we were in for another surprise.

“You look a lot better, K.” Gabe kept a stern focus on our friend.

“I feel better too. I’ll be out by the pool. Don’t worry, I won’t go anywhere.”

“You do, and I will hunt you down for Tristan and shove a tracker down your throat.”

“I wouldn’t leave him like that. Not again, you should know that.” She strolled past us, out to the yard without looking back.

I wasn’t sure whether it was my nerves or Kendra’s surprise entrance, but I burst out laughing.

“What’s so funny?” Gabe asked.

“I don’t know. Us. This.” I pointed to the white remnants of whipped cream.

Gabe pulled me into his arms and kissed me hard on the lips. “I’ll be back soon,” he said, pulling on his sweats.

I tightened my robe and went out by the pool to see Kendra. She sat in the lounge chair, her knees pulled up to her chest.

“Where did you guys go?” I asked.

“Tristan wanted to pay off my debt. It didn’t work. Martinez has new orders and Tristan’s trying to be a step ahead of him.”

“What does that mean?” I sat beside her.

“I don’t know. That’s what they’re talking about.”

“Are you, like, a couple?”

“No. He’s just a good friend.” Kendra’s face beamed when she spoke about Tristan.

“But you still love him?”

“That has passed. We’re too complicated together.”

Gabe pushed the door open to the back yard. His serious face told me everything I needed to know.

“Kendra, you’re going with Tristan. Sam, you’re not leaving my side for a moment.”

“Gabe, what’s wrong?”

“Tristan intercepted a call. Martinez received an order to kill Kendra.”

Tristan and Kendra left. Gabe said his cousin would keep her safe over night. Tomorrow, when they were ready, and more security arrived, the men would go after Martinez.

I didn’t like that. I stayed in my pink sweats, bringing Gabe tea as he sat at his computer. And that’s how the rest of the day passed, with Gabe clicking, and me worrying.
