“You son of a bitch.” Fenton wraps his hand around Frank’s neck and pushes him up against the wall. I watch as everything begins to happen in slow motion. Fenton pulls a gun from its holster that I somehow missed, and aims it at Frank.

“Fenton! Don’t!” I scream but he doesn’t even flinch. I know the drugs have taken over and I need to be cautious with how I proceed.

“You tell her right now how this really went. All I have ever wanted from you is the truth! I loved Danny; he was my best friend. We went everywhere together.” The tears have begun rolling down both of their faces. I didn’t think my heart could break any more but I was wrong. Seeing these two very strong men crying is tearing me apart.

“W-who is Danny, Fent?” I am almost afraid to ask.

“My son…”

“My brother…”

Frank and Fent answer in unison.

It takes me a minute to process what just happened. That makes them…

“That’s right, sweet Piper,” Fent answers lazily.

“Fenton, stop! What the fuck is going on, you told me your father was dead. And Frank you told me that your family was also killed. I don’t care what the fuck is going on between you but you are going to tell me what is going on, right now. I am tired of all this bullshit!” They both look at me. Frank begins to talk but Fent raises the gun to him again and Frank puts his hands up in surrender.

“You are going to let me tell this story the way it really happened. For the first time in both of our lives, let me have this.” To my surprise, Frank remains quiet. “Walk with me and let’s have a seat.” I follow Frank and Fent as they move to edge of the building. I would be lying if I said this didn’t make me a little nervous. I watch as Frank just sits on the ground but that must not be what Fent wants. He waves his gun toward the edge of the building.

“Son, please put the gun away. You don’t want to do anything else foolish.”

“Don’t fucking call me son. You have no idea what it takes to be a father.”

“You made sure of that didn’t you?” Frank says, as Fent raises the gun to his head.
