“That night we first met,” she said, daring to bring up the past.
He stifled a laugh. “Yes.”
She made sure to look him in the eye. She saw the warmth there and took shelter in the way he looked at her. “You told me that if I was yours, I would never have to beg another man to kiss me.”
The smile vanished, replaced by the familiar intensity in his gaze. “I remember.”
“I finally understand what you meant.”
“What do you understand?” he said, already knowing the answer.
“You're the only man I want to kiss.”
He curved his hands around her lower back. “I like the sound of that.”
She stretched her legs up and leaned her body on his. She lifted her mouth to his and kissed him. “Only you.”
“Say it again,” he said with urgency and tore his lips from hers to look her in the eye.
“I love you.”
“You told me that the first night we met.”
“I was drunk.”
“Actually, it's the only thing you told me with sincerity. It made falling in love with you a whole lot easier knowing I already had you.”
