Lord
, but she wanted that. “We’re stuck—remember?”

He grinned at her.
“My security team knows where I am at all times, even inside this building. It won’t take long for the elevator to start working again...You couldn’t have picked a better person to get stuck in here with, if you’d tried.”

That was certainly tr
ue, for more reasons than one. “So, what do we do in the meantime, while we wait for your security team to come to the rescue?”

“Is there any chance you’ll hyperventilate again?” he asked, teasingly.

“It’s not outside the realm of possibility,” she replied, tipping her head back to stare up at him. Normally, she hated being short, but standing next to him, she felt small, delicate and feminine instead of just feeling vertically challenged.

Gavin reached up and tugged the pins from her hair, allowing the red waves to fall d
eliciously over her shoulders. “For your own health and safety, I think I should provide a suitable distraction.”

“I think that’s an excellent idea,” Libby
quipped, stunned at her own behavior. She was actually flirting with him. She decided in that moment while assuming they got out of the damned metal box, she was going to have dinner with him.

Not being stupid
and dense as perhaps some of his model type women were, she understood that it would be more than dinner. She’d run from him before, panicked and retreated like a scared animal, but he wouldn’t let her this time. That didn’t mean anything in the long run though. Since coming to work for him, she’d done her research.

Gavin McBray was the original
love ‘em and leave ‘em Casanova.
Actresses, models, heiresses—he’d made the tabloids with all of them, but they were in and out, like he had a revolving door to his bedroom.

Libby assumed
she wouldn’t be any different. She didn’t say that to talk herself out of it. More as a way of protecting herself from any unrealistic expectations.

Even as she had the thought that it would probably be nothing more than a one night stand, she watched him remove his jacket and place it on the fl
oor, before loosening his tie.

When he sat, he reached for her hand and pulled he
r down onto his lap. At that moment, his telephone buzzed.

While he answered it, Libby took the opportunity to study his face.

High cheekbones, a large but well shaped nose, squared jaw, slightly cleft chin, broad forehead with a perfect hairline. It was as if the Gods had said; what elements do we need to make a perfect man? Then, as if they’d thrown all these features together…out came form of Gavin McBray.

Deciding to take matters into her own hands and provide her own distraction, Libby began to kiss his jaw line, s
avoring the tickle of his five o’clock shadow against her lips. Moving to his ear, she nipped playfully at his ear lobe. She might not keep him, but she was going to enjoy every minute of having him while she could.

*~*~*

“Ronan, what’s the status on the elevator?” Gavin asked, not bothering with any pleasantries. He wanted the conversation brief, because he intended to make better use of his time.

When he felt the slight sting of Libby’s teeth on his ear lobe, he had to clos
e his eyes and grit his teeth. God above, the woman was killing him.

Seated on his lap as she was, the lush curve of her bottom wa
s pressed against his erection. He could feel the soft mounds of her breasts—breasts that in his expert opinion were completely natural, pressed against his chest.

Holding a conversation with anyone was practically impossible with all the blood in his body
rushing straight to his cock.

Normally, employees were completely off limits to him, but he’d decided he wanted her long before sh
e’d ever come to work for him.

As far as he was concerned, fate had put her in his path and he was neve
r one to squander opportunity. When he finally spotted her moving through the lobby two days earlier, he’d been all but stalking her since, in the hopes of catching her alone and confronting her.

“We’re investigating now, sir,” Ronan kept speaking over the cell.
The elevator has been taken offline completely. We can’t access the controls at all...I suspect that it is related to the security breech earlier today. My gut tells me the elevator is compromised.”

It wasn’t the first time
someone had tried to kill him. Sabotage was ugly, but given the tech industry and the weapons applications of some the products currently in development, he was always a target.

Gavin gaz
ed down at the soft, sweet face of the woman who was currently driving him to distraction. He wasn’t ready to die and he damned sure didn’t want to see anything happen to her when she just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. “Do what you need to do, but keep me posted,” he replied with a distracted tone and closed his phone.

Libby peered up at him.
“What’s going on?”

“Som
e computer issues,” he hedged. “They’re unable to access the elevator controls via computer, so we’ll have to wait for everything to be manually inspected.” Even as he said it, he saw the fear creep back into her eyes.

“How long will that take?”

“Long enough,” he answered, and kissed her again.

CHAPTER TWO

Gavin savored the feeling of her lips beneath his while ca
taloguing her response. Her lips were soft beneath his, pliant and yielding. Libby was the type of woman who gave herself up to passion, who allowed herself to be swept along with it. She didn’t seem to fight for control, but allowed him to lead. That was exciting enough in and of itself.

When her lips parted, he tasted her, sliding his tongue between her lips, allowing it to glide sensually against hers, before retreating to nip at her full bottom lip.

It was a never ending kiss. He continued to explore her mouth, tasting, mapping, learning every curve and recess, listening to the sound of her ragged breathing, knowing that it matched his own. Every soft sigh of pleasure, every hum, and every moan told him what he needed to know.

The way a woman liked to be kissed, was also the w
ay a woman liked to be fucked. Libby Jones liked to be dominated but with a gentle touch. Lifting her from his lap, he laid her back on the floor and came down on top of her, his cock nestling into the v of her thighs. “Just how far are you willing to go in an elevator, Miss Jones?” he teased.

“As far as I
can, Mr. McBray.”

Gavin slowly released each button of her prim blouse,
revealing an equally prim bra. She was completely covered by the old fashioned garment, but somehow, that only made it sexier. Cupping one full breast through the fabric, he felt the hardened bud of her nipple graze his palm.

She moaned softl
y and he repeated the gesture. “You have too many clothes on, Libby—but since I don’t know when people are going to push open those doors and rescue us I don’t think it’s safe for you to take them off.”

“What do we do then?” she asked breathlessly.

“We work around them,” he said, his teeth grazing the tender skin where her neck and shoulder met. His other hand was coasting along her inner thigh, moving closer to the welcoming heat of her body.

“This is completely insane...
You realize that, right?” she asked.

He brushed his fingertips
along the edge of her panties. “You don’t sound sufficiently distracted.”

*~*~*

Libby wanted to spout off some witty reply, but his fingers had somehow breached the small defense provided by her panties and were tracing tiny circles on her bare skin, moving closer and closer the place where her body wept for him. “Please,” she murmured.

“Please what?”

“Touch me—I can’t wait anymore,” she urged. When she felt his thick fingers sliding inside her, parting the damp folds of her sex, she nearly wept with relief. His thumb stroked over her clit with deliberate precision, driving her up, until her hips had arched from the floor and she was thrusting helplessly against his hand.

He pressed two fingers deeply inside her, filling her as he worked her clit, and Libby h
ad never felt anything like it. How many nights had she dreamed of him? How many times had she touched herself in the darkness of her own bed, wishing that she’d been more courageous at their first meeting?

Those dreams and fantasies paled in compariso
n to the reality of his touch. It was as if he knew precisely how she needed to be touched, as if he could see in her mind and know the things that would give her the most pleasure.

Libby
closed her eyes and her head fell back as he lowered his head to her breasts.

Gavin skillfully
taunted on her nipples through the fabric of her bra.

It made her want
to feel the heat of his mouth, the firm press of his lips, and even the scrape of his teeth on her skin, free of any barriers.

Feeling as if her bones were melting, Libby gave herself up to the heat and plea
sure. His skilled fingers drove her to the brink and then beyond, her body spasming with pleasure as wave after wave of it crashed in on her.  She cried out, clutching at his shoulders, needing to feel something solid and secure as the world spun away.

“I can’t wait
to get you out of here,” he whispered while kissing her ear. “We’ll order dinner in.”

She laughed breathlessly.
“I can’t believe I’m doing this.”

“Please don’t run this time.
I’m suffering here. Besides, I can access your personnel file. Run this time…and I will find you.” The words were sexy and powerful even if they were a not so veiled threat, and Gavin looked as if he meant them.

Libby laughed, but she
didn’t doubt for a moment the seriousness of his words. Gavin was shrewd and determined, and he was suffering. She knew that was true.  She could feel the hard press of his cock against her thigh. With a slight wiggle, she moved down just enough to close her hand around him.

His answering groan of pleasure was immensely satisfying, but her mind wa
s boggling at the size of him. Some overly cautious part of her brain reared its ugly head and she had a moment of doubt. He was big. Certainly larger than anyone she’d been with previously. Another part of her was excited by it though, craved the feeling of him moving inside her, thick and hard.

The spell was only broke
n by the returning buzz of his phone. It seemed that the phone was forever derailing their attempts.

“Libby, reach into my pocket, grab that phone and smash it
against the damn wall,” he growled.

“No.
It might be important,” she urged reluctantly.

“Fine.” He
sat up, moving away from her tormenting touch.

When she started to rise, he placed a restraining hand on her stoma
ch while he answered the call.

*~*~*

Gavin continued to touch and explore her as he impatiently barked into the phone. “Ronan, this’d better be good.”

“The elevator is rigged, sir.
There are small explosive devices attached to the brakes and in approximately fifteen minutes, they are going to blow.”

“So get someone up here to pry the doors open,” Gavin demanded.

“That’s not actually possible, sir. There’s a secondary device that will trigger them if we do that. The doors have been tampered with...and as the explosives are beneath the elevator, twenty stories up, we have no way of reaching them to dismantle them. Our only option is to get you out through the access panel above, but because our time is very limited, we need you working on getting through that panel now.”

“Then do it,” Gavin ordered and snapped his phone shut. He sighed and gazed over at Libby.
“I’m going to have to distract you later. Right now, we have a problem.”

Libby had alrea
dy begun buttoning her blouse. “Tell me what’s going on, and don’t sugar coat it.”

“You know that saying about success breeding enemies?”

“Yeah.”

“It’s true... Since we started the Hypernion Project
there have been several attempts on my life, and I’m afraid the elevator malfunction is the latest. The brakes are rigged with small explosives, and if we tamper with the door, they’ll go off... Please don’t hyperventilate, now. We don’t have time.”

*~*~*

Libby felt ill, literally ill. Trying to fight back the waves of nausea that assailed her along with the overwhelming urge to cry, she met his gaze and tried to be braver than she felt. “What do I need to do?

“I’m going to lift you up and you’re going to climb out through the access panel onto the top of the car.”
