“Who was the
famiglia
?”

“They were called
Spinelli.”

“Are you sure of
this?”

“Yes.”

“The Spinelli are
related to the Donatelli. One of them is in Jagger’s room right now.”

“What’s their
name?”

“Teodora.”

“I don’t know her,
but it was my foster parents who took me to America. I remember them saying I
had to get off the island because Christo would come after me again. They took
me straight to the FBI, and I spoke to a man about what happened. They were
nice and took care of me. The thing is, I remembered everything about what
happened to me, told him everything. I never lost my memory during the attack.
The memory loss came afterwards. I think the FBI caused it, as well as feeding
me lies about my past.”

“How?”

“Possibly memory
suppressants, because when I came here, I didn’t remember any of you, but after
Federico died my memories started returning. I’m wondering whether he put the
suppressants in my food, as the Spinelli family did. Though, I do recall one
thing: my family was being watched, our house bugged by the FBI. I dreamt about
it last night.”

“It could’ve just
been a dream: meaningless.”

“No, I remember my
mother’s worried face. She looked just like me, but with lighter hair. She said
to watch what I spoke out loud when I asked her to get my father to put a hit
on Christo.”

My eyes widened.
“Why did you want a hit on him? You were just seventeen.”

“He threatened to
kill me if I didn’t stop seeing Jagger. He also said he wanted me to be his
slave.”

Bastardo
,”
I muttered. “He needs to suffer for what he did to you and Pedro’s daughters.”

“I can make that
happen.”

“How?”

“Send out the word
that Sophia Salvi is still alive.”

“No! He’ll come
after you.”

“That’s the whole point.”
