Palladian
[Ge].
A school of architectural design named after Andrea Palladio , its originator. Derived from late 16th-century Venice and adopting the principle of combining architecture and sculpture, the style became most popular in the early 18th century.
palm cup
[Ar].
Style of Saxon glass vessel in the form of a hemispherical bowl with a wide everted rim. Dated to the period ad 400–700.
palmette
[Ge].
A stylized palm frond often used as a decorative motif in various ways in Greek and Roman art. In early Celtic art there is a similar motif, adapted from Greek models, resembling a fragmented frond leaf.
Palo Blanco
[CP].
Seventh main phase of activity in the Tehuacán Valley of Mexico, dating to the period ad 150–700. This was the period when the first towns appear in the valley.
palstave
[Ar].
Form of axe current in the middle Bronze Age in Europe, distinguished by having the blade separated from the heel by a stop ridge and a heel which usually has more or less developed side flanges. The stop ridge and flanges served to prevent lateral movement and stop the haft from splitting during use. Palstaves may have side loops to aid binding or for carrying in bundles.

Any broad shallow vessel of metal or ceramic. Mainly used in cooking, but sometimes found only in ritual contexts.
