“You bought me a dress?” she asked, shocked that he even knew her size.

She went into his bedroom and found the most beautiful emerald green evening gown and a pair of silver flats lying on his bed.

“Oh, and keep your hair down,” he said with a wink as he left the room.

When Madison came out of the bedroom, she looked like an angel. He could not believe her beauty with her red locks draped across her shoulders and her porcelain skin set against the vibrance of the emerald green dress.

“Hope the flats fit. I knew heels were still out of the question,” he said.

“They are perfect. You are perfect. Now tell me where we’re going!” she said poking him in the stomach.

“Nope. You will have to come with me to find out…” he said taking her hand and leading outside. Instead of his truck, she saw a black stretch limousine.

“What in the world?” she gasped with her mouth hanging open.

“Let’s go. Your chariot awaits,” he said as he waited for the chauffeur to open the door. Inside, he had champagne already chilled and ready to drink as they rode down the street. Moments later, they pulled in front of the Granger house.

“We’re going here? We were here all day,” she said trying to hide the disappointment in her voice.

“You promised you’d trust me,” he said pointing a finger at her.

“I do trust you. Whatever you have planned will be perfect because it came from your heart,” she said kissing the end of his nose.

The chauffeur opened the door, and they slid out. Wyatt tipped him, and he drove off.

“Lights!” Wyatt yelled, and suddenly a big bright sign illuminated the front of the house just over the porch. It said “The Madison” and had yellow roses weaved throughout the words. Again, Madison put her hand over her mouth.

“I hope you like it,” he said, worried that she could be angry at the name he chose. “I thought it sounded high class, like you.”

“I love it!” she said. “Thank you, Wyatt!” She grabbed him around the neck and kissed him passionately. He picked her up in the air and then put her back down.

“That’s not all. Come on,” he said as he pulled her up the stairs. When he opened the front door and hit the lights, Madison was stunned. Not only were all of the Christmas decorations in place and ready for her opening, but other decorations had been put up, too. Hanging from the upstairs balcony was a sign that said “Welcome To Madison’s Prom”. In the middle of the foyer was a big disco ball, and a DJ was set up in the sitting room. A bar was in place in the living room, and the whole downstairs was full of chairs and food.

Out of the sitting room came Samantha, her mother, Brooks, Jennifer and her husband and a whole host of other family and friends. Tears welled in Madison’s eyes as she realized the work that Wyatt had gone to just to give her back her prom that she’d missed because of the bullies.

“Madison, I know I cannot make up for what I did all those years ago as a stupid boy, but I wanted to give you a prom night to remember, even if it is ten years later,” he said looking down at her under the disco ball.

“This is better than any prom I could have had, Wyatt, because I get to spend it with you,” she said putting her finger against his chest.

The DJ started playing “The Way You Look Tonight” as they swayed in the middle of the foyer while friends and family oohed and ahhed at the romance of it all.

“Madison?” he whispered in her ear.

“Yes?”

“Is it okay if I tell you that I love you now?” he asked smiling down at her.

“As long as it’s okay if I tell you that I love you, too.”
