Transformation isn’t weight loss:
It’s your journey toward loving yourself
. It’s about growing your self-esteem, accessing your inner power, and building your sense of self-worth. That’s the magic that can energize ordinary people—including you—to do extraordinary things. And one of those things is to finally, permanently drop those pounds.

After our clients reach their goal weight, and even while they’re still working at it, they realize that their journey
isn’t about that number on the
scale
. When they’ve tapped into their extraordinary potential and made themselves their first priority, they hold their chins high, square their shoulders, and puff their chests out, because they love themselves! They’re proud of their beautiful new bodies, but they’re even more thrilled that they’ve dug themselves out of their emotional hole and transformed their lives.

Their self-hatred is gone and their self-esteem has shot up to stratospheric heights. It blows us away every single time we see our clients leave behind defeat and hopelessness to reach victory and self-love. I know that
you can make that transformation, too!

Secrets of Transformation

I’m going to let you in on a few fundamental secrets that make lifelong transformation possible. Thanks to real-life experience with our awesome clients and trial and error in our own lives, Heidi and I have been fortunate to gain so much insight into how transformation happens. In this book I want to share four phenomenal and powerful things that we have discovered are
absolutely essential to every single transformation
.

Deep inside, you already know these four secrets—in fact, you’re driven by them. You just haven’t deciphered the code… yet. Once you truly absorb these secrets and put them into action, the physical nuts and bolts of carb cycling will fall into place. You will, for the first time in your life, completely understand what went wrong with every single diet you’ve tried. These secrets put lifelong transformation and carb-cycling success within your reach. Use them, and I
know
you’ll make it.

The First Secret: Believe

I’ve always said that belief is the magic ingredient: When we
believe we can
, we tap into our extraordinary human ability to persevere, and we put forth the effort required to get us to our destination. This secret might sound so simple (because it is):
Believe in yourself
, believe in this process,
and believe that your transformation is possible. Not just transformation of your body, but lifelong transformation of yourself. If you don’t at least believe “maybe I can,” then transformation isn’t going to happen for you. But when you believe transformation is possible, it is.

With belief, you’re capable of accomplishing things you never before thought you could do. You tap into extraordinary inner power that gives you the drive and perseverance you need to get going and keep going, day in and day out, to lose that weight and to change your life.
Belief gives you the power to achieve the extraordinary!

But believing in yourself can also be complicated. As Henry Ford once stated, “Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right.” Millions upon millions of people have attempted and failed and attempted and failed to slim down, and they don’t believe in themselves anymore. What if you’re in such a dark place of self-hatred that you don’t see how you could ever believe in yourself? Is your situation hopeless? No, it really isn’t.
It’s okay if you don’t believe in yourself yet
. Don’t worry: I’ll show you the way. I’ll teach you what Heidi and I have learned about growing your belief in yourself—the steps are very simple. No matter how discouraged and desperate you are, you can learn the steps. When you do, nothing will be able to stop you!

WHY WE WORK WITH SUPER-OBESE CLIENTS

We know something you don’t know:
We know what you’re capable of
—because we’ve seen what truly challenged people are capable of. It’s something we’ve learned by working with extremely obese people who are so discouraged, so low in life that they’ve lost hope. They come from a place of such despair and darkness that a life of health and happiness seems like an untouchable dream. They don’t believe in themselves, but right when we start working with them Heidi and I let them know that
we believe in them
. We show them the secrets to growing their self-belief.

One reason we choose to work with people who face the longest transformation journeys is to prove over and over again that transformation is possible. If they can do it, so can you! I’ve filled this book with
the amazing stories of some of our obese clients so you can witness the power of believing. I hope that when you read these you’ll experience a moment of clarity and say to yourself, “Oh my gosh! That’s me! I get it now. If they can lose all that weight, I can, too.
I believe that I can!
” It’s fantastic when that little light goes on in your head. Read on, and believe me, it will.

For starters, take a few minutes to reflect on and write down some of your past successes and accomplishments.
