“You’d think the bride would be with me on our wedding day, but no, she ran off in one of my parent’s sports cars!” Alex muttered.

“The curse has taken over!” Break’s words hit him like a ton of bricks.

“What do you mean, taken over. She’s been cursed since she came out of the Lycan court!” Alex reminded her.

“Yes, but the Shadow wolf is now complete. Her heart is gone,” Break informed him.

“Her heart is gone?” Alex repeated.

“You didn’t know?” Break asked, astonished.

“No, I didn’t know she would lose her heart! She never told me that was part of the curse!” Alex’s voice was ice-cold. “Where the hell is she running off to?”

“She is coming home. Her need to be with her pack will be overwhelming now. The only feelings she will be having are honor and duty, and a tiny bit of pleasure,” Break told him.

“How do you know so much about this so quickly?” Alex wanted to know.

“West has been keeping me updated. Falyn’s pack members are going through the same things as she is, and now the woods around his house are full of Shadow wolves – so many Lark and West can’t even count them!”

“They’re waiting for Falyn?” Alex asked.

“Yes, and that is why I can tell you she’s heading home.”

Her words barely reached him now as his mind had started to race.

“Alex, what are you going to do?” Break wanted to know.

“I’m going to go after her!” Alex said and ended the call.

He was running toward the garage now – he had to catch up with her.

“Alex, wait! Where are going?” His mother’s voice was like acid to his ears.

“I’m leaving,” he called back.

“Leaving? But why?” she demanded.

He didn’t answer. However, his mother wasn’t going anywhere. She followed him to the door.

“Tell me, please, you are not going after that girl!” She reached out and grabbed his arm.

He pulled it free. His eyes went to hers. They were the same deep blue as hers, but full of anger. He glared at her, letting all the hate he felt for her show. She backed up.

“I have a plane to catch!”

With those words he pulled the keys free for the McLaren Roadster. He quickly entered the address for the airport into the navigation system, then he put the car in gear and floored it, the engine roaring in his ears. He was going after her even if she no longer felt any love for him. He had to hold on to the hope somehow he could reach her; that he could break the curse.

She had chosen darkness but he would be the light that led her back.
