Swiftly, he swung off the bed and turned to the side table, offering me a glorious view of his firm, round butt-cheeks. He turned, a square foil in hand and his eyes once again locked to mine. He tore the package open and seductively rolled the latex onto his engorged shaft. He slid back onto the bed, his arms looped under mine, his hands grasping my shoulders, his sheathed cock resting between my legs and twitching at my hungry core. I raised my hips to him and wrapped my arms around his sides grasping his impossibly perfect ass. Our kiss grew hungry desperate.

I didn’t know if he was going to reach down and put things in line, but I couldn’t wait. I was so desperate to be filled by Chase that I mustered up the boldness and slipped one hand between us and pulled his dick to line up with my entrance. He pulled back slightly, and I saw the heat in his eyes.

“Please,” I asked.

“Oh, God, yes,” he said and slowly sunk into me. I relaxed into his slow intrusion and couldn’t wait for things to get rolling. I wanted to feel his power and strength. I wanted to watch
him
as he came, and I wanted to be the reason.

I felt every inch of him slide into my slicked up sex. I couldn’t help but wince at his size. He worked his cock in with a two inches forward, one inch backward kind of motion. I hungered for every centimeter he gave me. As fearful as I was with the size of him, it felt like heaven.

“All of it! Now!” I demanded on an exhale. And with one thrust, he fully seated himself in me. I gasped and struggled for air. He felt perfect. I wiggled my hips to adjust to his incredible size, and he responded with gentle rocking. We found a rhythm and I was on my upward climb to a second orgasm, something I’ve never had the pleasure of experiencing.

“More,” I panted, desperate for the release we were building. “Faster and harder.”

With that request, his face grew positively possessed. He adjusted to the side slightly and slid one hand between us, his fingers settling on either side of my clit and he started to stroke there. My breath intensifying, his breath matched mine and he started to pound with delicious force. I saw his face start to tighten as he was trying to control it, but I was ready to let go.

“Go,” I encouraged, “Come, Chase. Come for me.” And with that he pressed his hand, releasing my orgasm as he shouted and came ferociously, nearly convulsing into me. He dropped his sweaty body onto mine and we both gasped for air.

An hour, or maybe just a few moments, later he rolled off of me and turned on his side in my direction. “Wow,” he said, echoing my first words after my first orgasm.

“Yeah,” I agreed. “Wow.” I smiled. “Thanks,”

“Don’t thank me. That was incredible. Let’s just agree that we are amazing together.”

He propped himself up on one elbow and leaned in to kiss me. “Be right back.”

He slipped off the bed and trotted to the bathroom, probably to dispose of the condom and wash up. I lay there unable to move. I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply, the smell of Chase and sex flooded my senses. I tried to mentally imprint that smell in my mind so I could remember it for years to come.

Suddenly, I was surprised by a warm, wet cloth between my legs. I looked down to see Chase gently cleaning me up. I’d never had
that
happen before. I smiled at him, stifling a yawn, and he smiled back. He tugged at the covers. “In,” he ordered gently.

“I really should get a cab and go ho—”

His expression turned slightly harsh. “In,” he commanded, a little less gently. I convinced myself that I’d crawl into the covers and as soon as he was asleep, I’d tiptoe my way out. He was sure to fall asleep right away. All guys did just after sex.

I
watched her fall asleep then quietly slipped out and went to take a shower and clear my head. I stared at myself in the mirror for what seemed like forever, and what I saw looking back was a changed man.

I knew she was different. From the way we interacted. From the kisses. But sex—no, that wasn’t sex…we’d made
love.
My
soul
was touched. A place I had worked very hard to protect.

I watched her sleep. Something I never let happen before. Girls came to my bed, we did what we did and I’d give them a signed headshot of me and send them on their way. We’d each get what we wanted. They got an hour or so with a celebrity and I got off with something other than my hand. But Phoebe hadn’t come up for a story to tell. The way we went at each other, taking our time, and her glorious face flushing as she came… and now she slept peacefully…in my bed. My heart filled with emotion.

#freakedout.

CHAPTER 18

M
y eyes still shut tightly, I stretched and inhaled deeply. The stretch alerted my body that I was only wearing a bra, which was my first clue that things weren’t as they normally were. Peeling my eyes open, I didn’t recognize my dark surroundings immediately. I blinked a few times in the dark space, and suddenly the night before came flooding to mind. I’d had sex with
Chase Smythe
!!

Oh! My! God!!!

Way to keep things professional, Phoebe!
I scolded myself. I looked to the other side of the bed and saw that Chase wasn’t there. The curtains were drawn and the door to the bedroom was closed, the only light of day pushing in under the door from the living area. It was
morning
??!! I hadn’t meant to spend the night! I was going to sneak out to avoid the awkward ‘morning after’ business. Looking at the clock, I saw that it was almost nine!

What was Chase thinking right now? Was he thinking it was a mistake and he left to give me room to get out? Or was he out getting us breakfast?

My mind replayed the evening. His limousine plea for me to give him a chance—that I make him a better person. And that he wanted to be the only one to see me with my hair down. And the way he made love to me… Surely, that wasn’t all an act. I’ve seen Chase turn on the acting charm like a switch over the past few days, and none of what passed between us felt fake.

I pondered the possibility of the impossible—that I
could
be #ChaseSmythesGirl. I took a cleansing breath, and smelled coffee. Maybe Chase was in the other room with a room-service breakfast for two.

I slipped out of bed and pulled back the curtains for some light. Spotting my panties, I slipped them on, recalling that my shirt & jeans had hit the floor in the living area last night. I checked my appearance and was amazed that I didn’t look like death warmed over, and was eternally grateful to the creators of waterproof mascara.

Standing in just my skivvies, I took an I’m-a-big-girl-I-can-do-this breath, stood up straight, fluffed my hair, and opened the door. To my more-than-slight disappointment, Chase wasn’t in the living room either. Deciding that if, no…
when
he returned, if I was only in my bare minimum, it would look too desperate, I chose to get dressed. I ran over to my shirt and quickly slipped it on, then grabbed my jeans and turned them right-side out. As I was slipping them on, the door opened, and one very sweaty, ridiculously handsome, Chase Smythe came in.

Shit!

I stumbled in my jeans, one leg on, one leg partially on, and fell on my ass.

“Fuck!” I said as I hit the floor. Chase ran over and helped me up.

“You okay?” he asked. Concern was all over his face, I thought. He looked down and saw that my shirt was still undone, and turned away.

Double shit!

Chase’s reaction spoke volumes—mainly, that he’d regretted last night. Regret didn’t even
start
to express how I was feeling now in the harsh light of day.

I hastily buttoned my shirt, and tried to focus. It was Friday. What was on his schedule for today? It wasn’t much…
Oh, right!
A flight back to L.A., an easy day. “Um, I’m gonna run home and shower and stuff. I’ll be back to make sure you get to the airport on time.” Finishing the last button on my shirt I scanned the room for my purse and clipboard, I spotted them on the chair near the door, and snatched them up. “Right,” I said, thumbing through the pages. “You need to be at the airport no later than noon for a one o’clock flight.”

“Sorry, what was that?” he said looking up from his phone.

“You have Jimmy Kimmel tonight. It tapes at four-thirty Pacific time. There will be a car for you at the airport,” I reminded.

“Oh, right. Kimmel. Yeah. Friday.”

“I imagine Fridays, there must be a lot of flights, busy airport… How long are we from JFK? I’m sorry…I should know this. I don’t know if I have time to get home and back to—”

“It’s okay,” he interrupted. “The ride on Fridays can sometimes be brutal, and yes, the airport is pretty busy on Fridays.” He went to the table and picked up his wallet. He opened it and fished out some money. He handed me the folded bill. “For a cab,” he explained.

I waved it away. “No, I’m good. Thanks.”

“I insist,” he pressed. “If you don’t want to use it for cab fare, then go get a manicure or go shopping.” His blue eyes seared into me. I couldn’t even blink back. What was he thinking right now? It was like he was wearing a mask. When I didn’t budge, he shoved the green paper into my purse. I didn’t want to take it. It was making me feel dirty. Like a paid prostitute.

“You know, you don’t have to come pick me up just to get me to the airport. I can get there fine. Valerie thinks I need a babysitter, but really, I don’t. I’ll see you on Monday when I get back. Okay?”

What the fuck?
Is he
totally
blowing me off?

“I’ll make sure Val thinks you got me to the airport all safe and sound like a good PA.”

“Are you sure?” I croaked, feeling like I was going to puke.

“Sure, don’t sweat it. Go see some sights. Hang out with friends. Enjoy the day. I’ll see you on Monday.” He flashed a smile, but it wasn’t the smile I’d grown use to. It was the paparazzi smile he shot me. It was the interview smile. It wasn’t the mega-watt-eyes-included smile. When had I realized he had two profoundly different smiles?

“Sure, I guess. If you’re sure…” This couldn’t be happening. He really
was
a first class jerk!

“Sure I’m sure. I promise. It’s all good. Your job is safe.”

Speechless, all I could do was nod. He picked up his cell phone and started to do whatever it was that was infinitely more interesting than talk to the girl he’d fucked into nirvana the night before.

Head down, I walked to the door. I shoved on my boots, and turned to say good-bye, but he was already gone. I heard the water start in the bathroom.
Guess I was given my orders. FUCK!
God I was so stupid!

On the cab ride to my apartment, I felt miserable. I’d let myself be someone I never wanted to be. A one-night stand. With a known player. What was I thinking? Maybe this was how it was with the PA before me, Dana. Maybe this was the day after when she blazed into Valerie’s office guns a-blazin’. Lord knew I felt like marching into Valerie’s office and quitting right now.

But I wouldn’t. I needed this internship. I didn’t want to disappoint Mr. Stevens…Jack.
Shit!
I hadn’t thought about all that went down with my mom and him since yesterday.

And just when I thought that I couldn’t feel worse, I pulled out the bill that Chase had shoved in my purse. A
fifty!
Now I really felt like a whore.

My phone buzzed with a text from Jenny. I opened it and saw a reminder about dinner tonight. Part of me wanted to cancel and wallow in self-pity. But the smarter part of me knew that being with people would be better than being alone.
