With a gentle touch he skimmed the back of his hand over her cheek. “You are so beautiful, Sabrina. I love what I see inside and out.”

Her heart warmed, a burn inside her chest. “I kind of like you, too,” she said, her voice husky and he smiled.

He trailed his fingers up and down her sides from her armpits to the flare of her hips. She didn’t tense when he touched her. She trusted him not to go anywhere that she wouldn’t feel comfortable.

“Like I said, I didn’t bring you here for this,” he murmured. “But now that we’re here and alone, I want to be with you in every way.”

“That’s what I want.” She searched his gaze and saw the passion in his eyes. “More than anything.”

His blue eyes studied her face as he brought her tight against him. Sensations zinged through her belly as she felt his skin against hers. He slipped his fingers into the waistband of her panties and pushed them down over her hips and she stepped out of them as they fell to her feet.

Now she felt him everywhere she was bare and she was so hot and filled with desire, her body nearly shaking with it. He kissed her and slipped his hands under the neckline of her blouse, softly stroking her shoulders and then trailing his fingertips up her neck and back. She shivered from his erotic touch and slipped her arms around his neck, bringing him down to kiss him again.

He caught her by her ass and raised her up and she wrapped her hips around his hips. His cock pressed against her center and she wondered if he was going to take her just like that.

Instead, he carried her to the bed and laid her on top of the covers before lowering himself on the bed beside her. His mouth took hers again as he ran his palm over her hips and up to her flat belly, just under the hem of her blouse.

His hands were amazing as he touched her, stroked her, made love to her. His touches were gentle and so amazing that he had her whole body on fire, her senses barely registering reality.

“Beautiful Sabrina,” he murmured. “You are amazing.”

She smiled at the sincerity in his voice. “I think you’re pretty amazing yourself.”

With his palm resting on her belly, he kissed her then moved his lips along her jawline to her earlobe and nipped it. She hissed with pleasure then caught her breath when he slipped his palm down her belly, through the tight brown curls to the juncture of her thighs.

She gasped as he slipped his fingers into her wetness and she felt an orgasm starting to build as he rubbed her clit. She squirmed and cried out from the incredible pleasure he was giving her.

A look of intense need was on his features as he kept his eyes focused on hers while he touched her.

Her lips parted, her eyes widening as she approached climax. “Wyatt,” she whispered, barely realizing that she was saying his name. A burst of heat rocketed through her as she came hard. “Wyatt,” she cried out, louder this time as her body jerked against his hand.

She was breathing hard as she came down from her orgasm. She was aware of him turning just enough to reach into a pocket of his jeans that he’d kicked close to the bed, and he pulled out his wallet. From inside it he drew out a condom package then tossed the wallet aside.

As he knelt beside her, he opened the package and rolled the condom down his cock. He settled her onto her back and slid between her thighs. With a tense expression, he braced his hands to either side of her shoulders. Her heart pounded as he positioned his cock at the entrance to her core.

“Are you ready for me, Sabrina?” His jaw was tight as he spoke, his eyes so dark with desire that she shivered at the thought of all of that restrained passion she could see there.

She nodded, her hair sliding beneath her on the bedspread. “Yes,” she said. “Yes. Now. Please.”

He pressed his cock against her entrance then thrust hard. Her eyes widened and she cried out at the sudden thickness of him inside her. He stretched her and filled her so much that she could barely think straight.

Slowly he began pumping in and out of her, reaching deep inside, in a way that she’d never experienced before.

She was barely aware of clenching her nails into his skin and raking them across his back as he thrust.

“More,” she said. “Faster. Harder. Give me everything.”

Wyatt made a low growl in his throat and started driving into her so hard he was slamming his body against hers. She was on fire as she rose up to meet his every thrust.

Another orgasm built inside her as they moved in time with each other. His breathing came as hard and fast as hers and she saw sweat building on his forehead. A droplet rolled down the side of his face. His look was so intense that it felt like his whole world was centered on her.

Her mind started to spin as she felt the power of the oncoming climax that she knew would be even more powerful than the first one.

She could see by the fire in his eyes that he was close to coming, too.

Her orgasm rushed toward her with unbelievable speed. She tried to hold back, to prolong it as long as possible, but there was no holding back.

She cried out even louder than before. Her whole body felt like fire was rolling through her in waves and her core pulsing around his cock.

A moment later, he came with a growl, and she felt every throb of his cock inside of her. The way her orgasm was drawn out she didn’t know if she’d have the strength to do anything but pass out.

He groaned and brought her into his embrace, his body as slick with sweat as hers was. He held her tight and kissed the top of her head.

“Is it too soon to tell you I love you?” he asked.

Her eyes widened as she looked up at him. “Don’t tease me like that.”

“Who’s teasing?” He smiled and tucked her under his chin and held her close.

Her mind spun as she felt herself melt into him. Was such a thing really possible? Love so soon? Or was it just the heat of passion speaking?

She let out a long, soul-deep breath. She wasn’t ready to think of that. Not now. Not when she could so easily lose her heart.

Chapter 7

Wyatt watched Sabrina as she slept and he smiled. She was so beautiful, the glow of lovemaking still on her skin. Not only was she gorgeous, but she was intelligent, caring, and had a great personality. He’d loved every moment he’d spent with her.

He hadn’t wanted to scare her off by telling her that he loved her, but he’d never been one to hold back when he felt something.

His arm had gone numb from holding her while she slept but he hadn’t wanted to wake her. She’d slept so sound, like she needed a good long rest.

It was even warmer in the cabin now. There was only so much good the fan did.

Sabrina woke with a start and her eyes met his. She blinked and smiled at him. “How long have I been asleep?” she asked as he trailed his finger down her shoulder, wishing he could touch her bare skin.

“About an hour.” He adjusted his arm, shifting her, so that he could move it and it tingled like needles were poking it as his blood started circulating again. “My arm fell asleep.”

She grinned. “You made a great pillow.”

He liked how comfortable she seemed to feel around him, no awkwardness at all between them, even after what he’d said to her. She hadn’t acknowledged it, but it didn’t seem to bother her, either, something he considered a good sign.

“Unless you want to spend the night, which would be more than fine by me, I need to send you home soon.” He ran his finger down the tip of her nose. “It might rain and I’d prefer you didn’t drive in a thunderstorm.”

“You and me both.” She kissed him then scooted out of bed and she laughed when he swatted her on her bare butt.

With a smile, she looked around for her clothing then slipped into her panties and jeans. She sat on one of the chairs at the small table in the kitchenette area and pulled on her socks and shoes.

Wyatt watched her as he dressed. He couldn’t seem to keep his eyes off of her.

When they were ready, he turned off the fan, grabbed his cowboy hat, and shut the door to the cabin behind them. He helped her mount the paint horse. Sally stood patiently as Sabrina settled into the saddle. She’d picked up riding fairly quickly and she seemed like a natural as she rode.

It was now late afternoon. The ride back to the ranch house went by quickly as they laughed and talked. He told her about escapades with his brothers in the valley and she shared a story about some trouble she and her sisters had gotten into when they were young.

He asked her a few more questions about what she’d gone through with her illness. It didn’t feel uncomfortable at all talking about it. She liked how comfortable he was with her having it and his genuine interest and caring.

They rode up to the barn and Trent took the horses to brush them down and put them up for the night.

While Trent took care of the horses, Wyatt checked out the sky and saw that it was darkening on the horizon and he frowned.

“I don’t like the idea of you driving if a thunderstorm comes up on us fast.” He turned back to Sabrina. “It’s monsoon season, and a good desert monsoon can be pretty damned dangerous.”

“I’ll be careful.” She smiled, reached up, and kissed him. “Remember, I grew up here in Arizona so I’m familiar with thunderstorms. I’ll leave now and I can outrun it.”

“You sure you don’t want to stay?” He asked as he glanced at the sky again. Likely the storm was far enough away that she’d be fine, but he hated taking chances. “You can leave in the morning.”

“I need to leave early to go to Tucson to see my mom tomorrow.” She put her palms on his chest and leaned into him. “I promised her and I don’t want to let her down.”

He took her by her shoulders and he studied her beautiful face. “I shouldn’t have let you sleep for so long.”

“Shhhh.” She placed her hand over his mouth. “Stop worrying. I’ll be fine.”

His frown deepened as they walked to her SUV. “Call me the minute you get out of the mountains.”

“I will.” She reached for the handle to the door of her vehicle and opened it. She paused as she turned back to him. “I’ll be seeing you soon, right?”

“Damned sure better believe you’ll be seeing me soon.” He brought her to him in a fierce kiss then reluctantly let her go. “You’d better get going.”

She climbed up into her SUV and after one last look at him she shut the door behind her. After she put on her seatbelt, she turned on the SUV, put it into reverse and backed away from the house. She shifted into drive, gave him a little wave, and started down the driveway to the cattle guard.

He knew she was right. She’d be home before the storm hit. But as she drove away, he couldn’t help but think something wasn’t right.

* * * * *

Sabrina barely made it out of the Harshaws before the storm hit. As she drove away from the mountains, she called Wyatt and spoke to him for a few moments. It started to rain before she reached Patagonia and she told him goodbye so that she could concentrate on driving.

The entire drive she’d had to force herself to concentrate on the road because her thoughts kept turning back to Wyatt and the incredible day they’d spent together. Thoughts of the way he’d made love to her continued to send tingles between her thighs and she couldn’t stop smiling.

When she reached Carly’s house, Sabrina parked then ran to the house to get out of the rain, but it was pouring so hard that she was drenched by the time she reached the porch. She was still smiling to herself as her friend opened the front door.

“Somebody had a good day,” Carly said as Sabrina stood on the doorstep. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you with such a brilliant smile.”

Water rolled down Sabrina’s face and body. “If you don’t want me to drip on your floor, you’d better get me a towel.”

“The foyer is tile.” Carly ushered her in. “Not like you’re going to hurt it.” She shut the door behind Sabrina.” You can at least stand inside while I get you a towel.”

“Thanks,” said Sabrina, who hadn’t stopped smiling.

Outside lightning illuminated the sky for a moment before the crash of thunder followed. “Looks like you made it back just in time.” Carly turned away and headed for the bathroom where she retrieved a big bath towel. When she returned she tossed it to Sabrina.

“Thanks.” Sabrina caught the towel then began to rub the soft cloth over her body.

The nice thing about monsoon season was that the rain wasn’t cold and she wasn’t freezing after having been soaked.

“Go get changed and then you can tell me all about your afternoon with Wyatt,” Carly said when Sabrina had finished.

“Yes, ma’am.” Sabrina’s steps were light as she went to the guest room.

She changed into a clean pair of shorts and a long T-shirt then headed to the kitchen where Carly was waiting with a pitcher of something that looked suspiciously like margaritas.

“Really?” Sabrina bounced up and down on her toes like a little kid waiting for an ice cream cone.

Carly grabbed a couple of margarita glasses out of the cupboard, took a lime and drew it around the rim of each glass. She then dipped the glasses in the small container of salt, turning the glasses back and forth until the rims were coated. She filled them with crushed ice from the dispenser on the fridge before pouring in the margaritas.

“You’ve done this before.” Sabrina said.

“Hey, it’s the drink of the southwest and we Arizonans have to do it right. I made them earlier, no mix here—the real thing with limes, triple sec and a good tequila.” She set the pitcher aside and pulled a huge package of tortilla chips out of the pantry and a new bottle of salsa, which she poured into a salsa dish.

“To hot cowboys.” Carly raised her glass.

“To hot cowboys,” Sabrina echoed and they clinked their glasses before taking long drinks.

“Come on.” Carly gestured to the living room with her margarita glass. “I want to hear all about it.”

She managed to pick up the bag of chips and salsa dish while holding her margarita glass. Sabrina followed with the pitcher of the drink. Carly curled up on her favorite chair and Sabrina settled on the couch.

Carly took another drink of her margarita then set it aside. “Okay, tell me why you haven’t stopped smiling since you got here.”

“I had the best day.” Sabrina told Carly about the ranch, the horses, and riding. When she got to the part about the little house, her friend was leaning forward in her chair.

“Tell me, tell me.” Carly was grinning now. “You did it, didn’t you? You had sex with Wyatt.”

Heat flushed over Sabrina. “It was amazing. He was amazing.”

Carly raised her hand and they high-fived. “Damn, girl. You’re a fast worker.”

“I never in a million years would have thought I’d end up in bed with Wyatt the fourth time I saw him.” Sabrina shook her head. “It just happened.”

“Details?” Carly asked.

Sabrina grinned. “All I’m going to tell you is that he’s even better looking with no clothes on.”

“Woohoo.” Carly high-fived Sabrina again. “What’s next for you two?”

“I don’t know.” Sabrina settled back on the couch. “I’m going to Tucson tomorrow and we’re supposed to talk when I get back.”

“When are you leaving?” Carly asked as she dipped a chip in salsa.

“I have to call Derrick first.” Sabrina sipped her margarita.

“That guy who helped you with your SUV?” Carly frowned. “Why would you need to call him?”

“Yeah.” Sabrina nodded. “He asked me if I’d take a package to his sister who lives just off of I-10 in Tucson.”

“That’s kind of weird.” Carly set her margarita aside. “Why doesn’t he just mail it?”

Sabrina shrugged. “Cheaper this way. He did me a favor so I don’t mind doing one for him.”

“I guess so.” Carly was still frowning. “You don’t suppose Wyatt is the jealous type, do you?”

“He has nothing to be jealous of.” Sabrina picked up a chip. “Although when we went to dinner I mentioned that Derrick helped me. Wyatt told me that I need to stay away from Derrick. Something about him not being good people.”

“That doesn’t sound good,” Carly said. “I can’t see Wyatt as the gossipy type who talks bad about people without a reason. I think this Derrick might be exactly what he’s saying.”

“Not you, too.” It was Sabrina’s turn to frown. “Derrick was nice to me and I’m going to do this favor for him. I already agreed to it.”

“Just watch yourself, okay?” Carly said.

“Of course.” Sabrina decided to change the subject. “Now what about that Mike Sharpe guy we met along with Wyatt?”

“We’ve talked a couple times on the phone.” Carly pushed her dark hair behind her ear. “I just don’t feel that same kind of connection that you have with Wyatt.”

“You haven’t even tried.” Sabrina tilted her head to the side. “You know, I think that you’re more worried about having a relationship with a man than I am.”

“Ha.” Carly waved away Sabrina’s comment. “I’ll know when it’s right. And when I do, that man better watch out.”

Sabrina laughed. Yes, she could imagine that the man better do just that. Watch out for Carly Abbot.
