Phil and friends with NASCAR driver Greg Biffle (second from right) at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The NASCAR track was where Phil and his fellow
Deadliest Catch
captains first realized the huge impact the show was going to have on their lives. When Phil, Sig Hansen, and Johnathan Hillstrand showed up at a race in 2007, everyone at the track that day—drivers included—knew they were in town.

A wonderful tribute to Phil, coordinated by our friends at the Rutledge Corn Maze in Tumwater, Washington. The picture was taken from about 2,000 feet.

Phil with Josh and Jake, pitching Monster Energy Drink in the Racegirl souvenir trailer at a NASCAR race in Fontana, California, September 2008.

Phil (back center), with Jake and Josh (front row, far left), visiting a classroom.

Jake, Josh, Phil, and Russ at a dinner in Las Vegas, after an appearance at the Super-cross Finals in May 2008.

Phil and his longtime good friend Dan Mittman, taking a break during one of their many motorcycle rides.

Phil loved kids, and he would stop at nothing to put a smile on their faces. Here he is sharing his wisdom with an elementary school class.

Jake and Josh with their mother, Mary.

Jake, Mike Lavallee, and Josh at Phil’s memorial at the Tulalip Casino north of Seattle. It was a sad day, but those in attendance were able to find some joy and laughter as they shared stories of Phil’s amazing life.

A beautiful and fitting tribute to Phil: the two urns containing Phil’s ashes were Harley Davidson gas tanks, custom painted by his close friend Mike Lavallee to celebrate Phil’s life on land (left) and at sea (right).

JOSH AND JAKE HARRIS
are Captain Phil’s two surviving sons. Both followed their father into crab fishing and are now
Deadliest Catch
stars in their own right. In late 2012, they accomplished a dream three years in the making by purchasing Phil’s famous crab boat, the
Cornelia Marie,
which they now co-captain on the Bering Sea and on television screens around the world.
