“You surprised me. I didn’t realize you were not only a doctor, but one of the warriors. I suppose Lonato is one, too.”

“He’s more valuable staying home. We call for him if he’s needed. But today is about you and me showing our true selves.”

“I agree.” She stood, and his warm regard made her feel loved and treasured. “I need to fly.” She blinked her eyes and soared out across the canyon.

Hakan watched the beauty of her colors and her graceful movements. Jealousy nipped at him because this was the one way she could escape from him and Rex. In this one area, they couldn’t compete. Their job was to make sure she always wanted to return. And he thought she did. He’d noticed the increased intensity of their joining, which told him she wanted to know her men were strong and able to care for her.

He chuckled to himself. No wonder she’d had short relationships. She probably scared the men away. But she knew he wasn’t going to leave her, not ever. At least as long as he knew she wanted him. She might deny it, but she’d be lying.

She swooped down over the large stallion. He tossed his mane and snorted, then reared up on his hind legs. Hakan watched as Kira teased with him. But the proud black horse held his ground. She swirled around him and flew back to Hakan’s side and shifted.

“I’ve been fascinated with the stallion since I first saw him. Every day, I’ve flown closer and closer to him. He’s proud and strong. He doesn’t give me an inch. I like that in him”—she walked to her clothes and dressed while Hakan watched—“and I like it in you.”

He sauntered toward her and kissed her lips. “Before it gets dark, show me around this land you obviously love.”

He dressed and she took his hand.

“I’m going to buy the property and build a cabin facing the canyon, near the lake and waterfall. There’s a clearing there that would be the perfect spot.”

“You are determined to buy it yourself?”

“I am. I’ll try to explain. I need a place all my own. Not that I won’t share it with others, but there will be times when I need to be totally alone.” She looked up at him. “Can you understand?”

“Yes. I don’t like it, but I understand and respect your need.”

“I’m glad because I also need you.” She led him out to the road. “It’s easier walking this way, and quicker. I’d like to show you what I was talking about. Altogether I’ll have a large amount of acreage with a fourth of it facing the canyon.”

Hakan studied the land as they trudged along. Where they were headed was quite a distance from her campsite. Finally, they veered off the trail and walked through a thicket of trees. On the other side, he saw the clearing she’d mentioned.

Kira pointed to the stream. “It meanders through all of the property and ends here.” She pointed to a waterfall cascading over a high rock wall and spilling into a pond. “This is the highest point on the property.”

He turned around to see all sides of the clearing. It was a magnificent piece of land. One side had a wide, expansive view of the canyon. On the right side of the open area, the waterfall shone silver in the sunlight, and the lake reflected the blue sky and clouds. Woods surrounded the clearing on the other two sides.

“I’m surprised no one has bought this before, but I guess few want to live this far out. Most wives want to be near the center of the ranch.” Hakan grinned at her. “I’m sure you are the only woman who’d be willing to stay here alone.”

“I’m special,” she teased.

He pulled her close against him. “Yes, you are.” His cock stirred and stiffened against her soft belly. “He’s hungry again.” Hakan looked around. “There’s a nice grassy area. I’ll spread my shirt and we can christen our new hideaway.”

“Our?”

“Our!”

“Sounds like an excellent idea.” She quickly stripped.

Hakan did the same and started to sheath his cock. She put her hand over his.

“Don’t. I want to feel you.”

“I’m safe, so you don’t have to worry about that, but what if you get pregnant?”

“I felt certain you were all right, being such a responsible doctor. Would you refuse to marry me if I got pregnant?”

“Honey, I’d handcuff you to my wrist and march you to the nearest priestess.”

“Then what are we worried about?”

He spread his shirt, and she pushed him down on it. “I’m going to be in control this time.” She straddled his legs and took his large cock into her warm mouth. Hot desire shot up his spine. When her tongue licked across the crown, he feared he’d lose it. She licked all around his dick and then took him in her mouth as far as she could.

“Ah, baby.”

Slowly she moved her head up and down. Her tongue caressed the underside of his cock on the way up. Then she took hold of his sac and softly moved his balls. Liquid heat raced through his veins.

“Honey, if you don’t want this to be over in the next few seconds, you’d better put that dick of mine inside your delectable pussy.”

* * * *

Kira sucked on his dick then looked up at him. “I love when you talk dirty.” She positioned herself where his cock was right at her opening and sank down, taking him deep inside her.

His wide dick stretched the sides of her pussy. Her heart raced, and the mixed warmth of pleasure and joy shot straight from her pussy to every nerve in her body.

“Are you just going to just sit there?” he groaned.

She clenched and unclenched against his cock. His eyes flashed with desire. Her cream coated his cock. He took hold of her buttocks and urged her to move.

Slowly, she began to glide up and down. His cock stiffened even more. Leaning forward, she rubbed her fingers across his nipples. He let out a hiss. His dick pulsed and strained against her insides, putting pressure on her G-spot. A sweet ache started right there. Their scent of arousal filled the air around them.

Hakan’s eyes were heavy lidded, and he took deeper breaths. She knew he was trying to hold on longer. It gave her a glorious feeling to see the control she had, if only momentarily, over this strong man.

Impatient now, he took control. His hands held on to her hips as he pushed in and out faster. He clutched her to him and sucked on her nipple. Her pussy responded with a spasm deep inside.

She rode him harder. Her back arched as she welcomed his masterful thrusts. A wave of heat and ecstasy started at her feet and rolled upward, flinging her into a sparkling, blissful place. He plunged several more times before she felt the warmth of his release. Hakan shouted out, “My love.” She immediately collapsed against his body. “If we keep this up, there’ll be nothing left of me by tomorrow.” He kissed her and moved her gently to the side.

“Pansy,” she needled him.

“Give me a few minutes, and I’ll make you sorry you said that word.”

“I hope so.”

After they’d regained their energy, they started back to the campsite. The sun was setting and spilling rainbow colors against the canyon walls.

“We’ll have Nick design your cabin. He’s the best, and I want to make sure there’s room for Rex and me.”

“Lonato and I have to talk before I decide about him. I won’t be bullied.

“When we saw him at the hospital he was vulnerable and scared, so he lashed out at me. It hurt me, and it took me a while to realize what he was feeling and why he said what he did. He was partially right. But if a person really loves and respects you they don’t hit you verbally or otherwise when you’re down. He has a habit of snapping back at others, too. He’s going to have to change for good for it to work between the three of us.”

“I told him the same.”

“We’ll go back tomorrow and see how he’s doing. At this time, he needs family and friends close-by.”

Hakan nodded. “You do care about him, or you wouldn’t have suggested us leaving so soon. I agree. I’m worried about his recovery.”

“Then we’ll leave early. I want to stop briefly at Nanna’s and purchase some of her healing tea.”

“She’ll give it to you. He’s one of her grandsons.”

Kira warmed a can of vegetable soup, and she made biscuits with water and a mix Daren had put in her supplies. She rolled the dough, flatted it with her hands, and put them in the bottom of a pan. “They won’t be perfect biscuits, but hopefully they’ll be edible.”

Hakan looked at all the supplies she had left. “Daren expected you to be gone longer.”

“I thought I might be. But then you arrived.”

“No, you’d have worried about Lonato and come back sooner anyway.”

“Probably. I was mad at him and trying to push thoughts of him away. It wouldn’t have worked for long. I’m glad you all knew the right surgeon to call to do the repair on Lonato’s arm.”

“Rex knew him from medical conferences, and he’s been a friend of Lann’s for a number of years. I’m not sure how long. He lives and works in Texas. Lann apparently has been very quiet about his vacations to Texas. His decision took Garth by surprise, and they’re close.”

“From the time I met him, Lann didn’t seem to fit. His heart wasn’t in being a leader. He was chosen, and he’s a responsible person, so he did his duty. But this time, he’s following his heart. We should all do the same.”

“You are so smart, sexy, and my soul mate.”

“I’ve tried to ignore the feelings, but I’m almost certain you’re right.”

“What more do I need to do to convince you?”

“We’ll see after we get back.”

“I won’t let you go.”

“I can always fly away.”

He took her face in his hands and looked deep into her eyes. “You won’t.”

She tried to tip her head downward, but he held on firmly. “No, I can’t.”

Hakan picked her up and sat holding her close while their dinner cooked. His heart beat steady against her body. She wrapped her arms around his neck and cuddled against him. He would always be her rock, her stability, and every tiny atom in her body adored and loved him.

But what about Lonato? Could they marry and leave him behind if he couldn’t see himself changing? Or would he be the wedge that separated them? Sadness turned her joy to melancholy.

“Don’t worry, honey. He’ll come around.”

“Are you a mind reader?”

“Where you’re concerned, yes. I see your emotions in your body language and in your face.”

“No one’s known me so well, except Averil.”

“Times are changing.”

“Yes and very fast.”

“Let’s eat and snuggle in your tent.”
