Budding Romance

Bake heart-shaped butter cookies and ice them in ivory sugarpaste (see pages 34–36).

Make the rosebuds (see steps one to three, page 115) and stick one onto the centre of each cookie with a little royal icing.

Decorate the cookies with different designs to ensure they look interesting when grouped together. Experiment with adding small piped sugar pearls and outlines and leaving some white with just the rosebud.

All Wrapped Up

With such a bold design, these little
cuties only need a clear bag and red satin ribbon to create modern gifts or favours.

About the Author

May Clee-Cadman founded Maisie Fantaisie in 2003 to create unique wedding and celebration cakes. She studied Art and Design History graduating with an honours degree in 2000, and went on to train as a cake designer, incorporating her flair for design with her love of cake making.
