“I love when you get all skittish and show the whites of your eyes like a scared critter.” Dolly kept her hold on his arm. “Who cares what they think? Besides, Alex and Smoke make a cute couple.”

“So you saying we’re a match too?”

“If the boot fits….” Dolly grinned at him. She slid into the booth and patted the seat next to her. “I know, in your own wrongheaded way, you think you’re not winning any beauty contests, but speak for yourself. I’m hot.”

“Jesus, girl.” Trey shook his head and sat down next to her. “Don’t put me down like that.”

“That wasn’t a put-down. They’re pretty, but you and me, we got the sizzle. Sex appeal.”

“You
are
a hottie.” Alex leaned forward to pat Dolly’s hand.

“Guess I’m the only modest one here,” Trey muttered.

“Yeah, you’re on your own. Unless you find a way to fill out that sequined bra.” Alex smiled at him and elbowed Smoke in the side. “Speak up if you got something to say to encourage Trey, cowboy. Don’t be shy.”

“Yeah, you’re aiight.” Smoke laughed.

“Gee, thanks.” Trey picked up the menu to hide his face.

“My man Trey is a lone wolf.” Smoke pulled down Trey’s menu and grinned provocatively at him. “Walks his own path his own way.”

To Trey’s relief, a surly male biker arrived at the table to take their order. Lone wolf had a nice ring to it, but not on solitary nights hunkered down in his single-wide at home.

THE FOOD
was good and the company enjoyable, even though Trey hadn’t found much to say. Between them, Smoke and Alex provided most of the conversation. When they finished eating, it was still early, and Smoke might yet vanish like a puff of smoke if he had a date. Lying awake alone in the motel room wasn’t Trey’s idea of a great way to spend the night, but at least he could replay his successful rides in his head to prepare for tomorrow. And to distract himself from whatever Smoke was up to.

He steeled himself when they left the restaurant, waiting for Smoke to check his watch and make an excuse to leave. Pathetic, waiting around for Smoke to take off. Maybe he should go find some action himself.

But Smoke walked back to the motel between Alex and Dolly, discussing barrel racing as if he were planning a new career in the event. He was surprisingly knowledgeable, at that.

Alex glanced back over her shoulder at Trey with an impudent grin. “So, who’ve y’all been seeing lately, Smoke?”

Smoke turned to slap Trey’s shoulder. “Only my man Trey here.”

“At least so far today,” Trey said lightly. “The night is still young.”

They were just passing the arena, and there stood the kid who had accosted Smoke earlier. Rowdy Stetson approached them with a confident smile. He acted as if Smoke were alone, looking up at him with starry eyes. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you, Smoke.”

“And here I am,” Smoke said. “And there I go. Sorry, gotta see a man about a horse.”

“Can I ask you just one question?” Rowdy batted his eyelashes and smiled hopefully. “I really need your advice before my event tomorrow.”

Frowning, Smoke shot a quick glance at Trey and nodded. “Just one, then.” Together they dropped behind the group and Smoke bent his head to listen. His spine rigid, Trey faced forward, trying not to hear anything.

“Round up your man, Trey.” Dolly grabbed his arm and dug her fingers in.

“Didn’t you hear him? Smoke said only you,” Alex hissed at him.

Under dual assault, Trey flinched. “Smoke’s not mine and we’re not dating.”

“He’s packing heat in his jeans for you,” Dolly whispered. “He doesn’t want that little honky weirdo.”

Trey shrugged. “I never interfere in another man’s business.”

“You gotta take a chance on love again sometime, Trey. Everyone gets hurt, but you move on.” Dolly’s eyes were soft with compassion.

“Shut up,” Trey muttered.

“Did I miss something?” Alex asked.

“Long time ago.” Dolly patted Trey’s shoulder. “Bad time.”

“You need to swing your loop and snub it down on Smoke before it’s too late. Stake your claim,” Alex insisted in a low voice. “We know you two are fucking.”

Trey said nothing. Heat flamed over his face, and he was glad no one could see it. “None of your business.”

“I’ll take that as a yes. Grow a set, cowboy, or you’ll lose him. Even Smoke needs a
hint
of encouragement.”

“Look, Alex, you don’t understand—” When he heard Smoke’s voice, Trey clamped his lips together.

“Catch you later, Rowdy.” Smoke caught up with them and stopped short when he saw them. “Am I interrupting something?”

“No.” Trey started toward the motel again.

Alex said, “Just talking about Trey’s costume for tomorrow. Maybe something chiffon and flowy.”

“Too dangerous in the ring.” Dolly giggled.

“Yeah, better just stick with the bra,” Alex said judiciously.

Stiff with anger, Trey kept walking.

“Hey, wait for me.” Smoke hurried to catch up and matched his stride to Trey’s. “Where’s the fire?”

“Gotta rest up for tomorrow.”

“Yeah, seeing as how you’re such a delicate flower. Get that fainting couch ready.”

“Shut up.” Trey snuck a peek at Smoke out of the corner of his eyes. Smoke was grinning, but he looked straight ahead. He started to whistle and bumped his shoulder into Trey’s as they walked. Trey had a sense that maybe Smoke wasn’t entirely pleased Rowdy Stetson had tracked him down, but likely he was fooling himself because that’s what he wanted to believe. Smoke bumped his shoulder again.

Trey looked back. Rowdy was watching them, his eyes huge and sad. Pathetic. Pretty much how Trey felt waiting for Smoke to take off, except he hoped he didn’t let it show so much. On the other hand, it started to dawn on him that Smoke didn’t seem to be going anywhere else. Tentatively Trey let his shoulder brush against Smoke’s.

“You finished sulking?”

“Wasn’t sulking.”

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

“Okay, finished thinking, then?”

Reluctantly, Trey grinned. “Yeah, I’m done thinking for tonight.”

“Whew! For a minute I felt like I was talking to a girl.”

“We heard that,” Alex called out, to Trey’s relief.

“Talking about some other gals.” Smoke stopped to wait for them to catch up. “You’re both too fly to play games like that.”

“Fly!” Alex sounded outraged, but she couldn’t keep the smile off her face. “Try smart, unlike you men. Life’s too short to play hard to get.” She glared meaningfully at Trey.

Trey refused to look at her.

“You think they’re talking about us?” Smoke nudged Trey’s shoulder again.

“No,” Trey snapped.

Smoke put up his hands in surrender. “Just asking. Don’t bite my head off.”

Trey stopped when they reached Dolly and Alex’s room. “Good luck tomorrow, Dolls.”

“You too,” she said without looking at him. “If you don’t smarten up, I hope a bull kicks you in the nuts.” She unlocked the door and stumped into the room.

“I’m sure she didn’t mean that.” Smoke sniggered.

“Yeah, she did.” Alex grinned. “See you guys. Get ready for the Hoedown Showdown tomorrow, because I am a dancing fool!”

After Alex closed the door, Trey’s tension ratcheted up as he waited for the moment when Smoke would excuse himself to meet up with someone else, or worse yet, ask him to find another room to crash in for the night, but Smoke just kept going along next to him right to their door. With every step, Trey’s cock grew heavier with anticipation, even though he reminded himself to assume nothing. Smoke could still say good night at the door and take off.

But when they reached the room, all Smoke did was swipe the card key and open the door. Trey stepped inside and pulled the curtains across the window, waiting for Smoke to say something. Finally Trey turned around to see what was up.

And there it was, that mysterious flicker in Smoke’s eyes again when he locked the door and leaned on it, but Trey wasn’t going to blow this opportunity trying to figure out whatever Smoke was thinking.

Smoke was still here with him in the same room, and this time Trey would be the one doing the riding. He pushed Smoke roughly to the bed and fell on him. Trapping Smoke with his weight, Trey pinned his hands to the mattress next to his head.

“Oh look, you fell on top of me.” Smoke’s smile was just as challenging as when he was the aggressor.

That cocky smirk sent a shiver of lust spiraling from the pit of Trey’s stomach straight to his balls.

Smoke’s skin was like black coffee, smooth and rich and silky. He moved under Trey like a lazy cat, his bulge pushing insistently against Trey’s thigh.

Trey’s cock throbbed against the prison of his jeans as he stripped off Smoke’s shirt. He wanted to hump Smoke mindlessly until he came, but he didn’t want it to be over fast like that. He had to show Smoke some finesse. A man that fine deserved it.

He crawled off the bed and yanked Smoke’s boots off, taking the socks with them. Then Smoke lifted up to wiggle his jeans down his thighs. Helpfully, Trey pulled them off the rest of the way, leaving Smoke lying there naked, every muscle clearly delineated under his skin. His shoulders were broad, and the flat plane of his hip bone flowed into the lush curve of his ass. Smoke’s cock twitched against his stomach as if it had its own ideas. He lay there, legs splayed wide to show off his balls taut and drawn up against his groin.

Trey rubbed himself through his jeans. Better undress if he didn’t want to bust the zipper out. The way Smoke watched as he stripped, pupils dilated with desire, sent blood hurtling to his groin. He was hard enough to drill steel. Smoke stared as each piece of clothing fell, as if he was waiting to pounce, still with that lazy smile on his face.

Once he was naked, Trey stroked his cock, searching Smoke’s face for any hint of mockery. He bent over Smoke, pushing his tongue between Smoke’s lips to take possession of his mouth, determined to kiss the smirk off his face.

When he came up for air, the challenging smile was gone. A tiny moan of need broke the sound of their panting. As Smoke watched Trey’s hand move on his dick, he licked his lips. Knowing Smoke was so turned on by watching him filled Trey with exultation.

First the familiar ritual, pulling on the condom, like pulling on the glove before riding. All thought of finesse left him. Driven by raw lust, Trey grabbed Smoke behind one knee and yanked him to the edge of the bed. He lifted Smoke’s legs up onto his shoulders and pressed two fingers against Smoke’s mouth. Obediently Smoke opened up and sucked Trey’s fingers inside. The tickle of Smoke’s lips and tongue sent a charge all the way to Trey’s groin, almost enough to come from.

Smoke let his fingers go, and Trey stroked over his hole before pushing two wet fingers inside. With a low moan, Smoke rocked his hips, fucking himself on Trey’s fingers with an eagerness that told Trey he was more than ready.

Shivering with anticipation, Trey lined his cock up with Smoke’s hole. This was something he dreamed about at home, alone in his trailer. Something he’d stroked off to more than once, hoping for the next time. When he finally breached the tight ring of muscle, he had to bite his lip and squeeze his eyes shut to keep from coming from the sight and sensation.

A soft groan broke the silence, and Smoke pushed back at him eagerly, sucking Trey in inch by inch. Then he reached up, his hand on the back of Trey’s neck, and pulled him down for a hard kiss. He hooked one leg around Trey’s back to pull him in even deeper and keep him there.

Even though he was doing the fucking, somehow Trey still felt as if Smoke was in control. Once he slid all the way in, Trey restrained the urge to simply pound his way to orgasm. He didn’t want it to end that fast. He pulled out slowly.

Trey flipped Smoke onto his stomach and mounted him. Smoke lunged back to hasten the penetration. He gasped and jerked under Trey, but with each thrust Trey pushed in deeper, feeling Smoke’s channel adjust to accept him.

He worked Smoke’s legs wider apart and dug his knees into the mattress so he could thrust harder. Smoke reared back to meet him, his hole clinging to Trey’s cock when he pulled out, as if unwilling to let him go. The muscles working around his shaft pushed him too close to the edge, and Trey dug his fingers into Smoke’s hips hard enough to draw a yelp from him.

He stopped and pulled out again, trying to control his need to come. Smoke rolled onto his back.

“First prize for chute dogging,” Smoke murmured, and chuckled. Droplets of sweat glistened on his beautiful torso as he stretched out. Smoke was almost purring with pleasure, looking up at Trey under half-closed eyelids, his mouth curved with that tantalizing smile. “Is that all you got?”

Trey bent over to bite into one dark nipple and sweep his tongue over the hard nub, feeling the jerk of Smoke’s body in response. He pushed Smoke’s leg to the side and pressed his dick inside slowly. Smoke’s body might be sculpted hard with muscle, but inside he felt tight and hot and soft wrapped around Trey’s cock.

This time Trey found the right spot right away. Smoke’s eyes fluttered closed and he arched up, the muscles in his throat working. His smile faded as his mouth dropped open on a sharp inhale for air.

The confidence Trey felt when he was riding started to flow, and he thrust again, elated that he could be the one to give this pleasure to Smoke tonight. There were so many things he wanted to say, and holding them in only sharpened the intensity. He couldn’t say how he felt, but he could show Smoke.

As his hand became a blur jacking his own cock, Smoke’s groans of pleasure sounded almost like distress. Trey pounded into him, each thrust getting a little more wild, until Smoke went rigid under him, crying out when he came. The pressure of Smoke’s hole clamping down on his cock almost made him pass out. Lost in the ecstasy on Smoke’s face, Trey forgot his own aching cock for the pleasure of watching Smoke. Even now, Smoke was so willing to allow him to watch the most intimate of moments, but then Smoke liked being the center of attention. He was used to it.

When Smoke stopped shaking, Trey withdrew slowly. Kneeling over Smoke, he pulled off the condom. He scooped the come off Smoke’s stomach and used it to slick his fingers and cock. Smoke’s eyes were open a slit, watching him, making it even hotter to jack off for him.
