Alexander
Known as ‘the Wolf of Badenoch’, he was born in
c
.1343, and created Lord of Badenoch on 30 March, 1371. He was created Earl of Buchan on 22 July, 1382, and was styled Earl of Ross in right of his wife from July, 1382. Alexander died before 1406: a possible date is 24 July, 1394. However, he may have died as late as 25 March, 1406. Other possible dates are 20 February, 1395 (but here there is possible confusion with the date of his wife’s death), 1 August, 1405, or any date between August, 1405, and March, 1406. He was buried in Dunkeld Cathedral, Perthshire.

Alexander married, on or before 22/24 July, 1382 (although no evidence exists as to where):
Euphemia
She was the daughter of William, 7th Earl of Ross, by Mary, daughter of Angus Og, Lord of the Isles, and she was born after 1342/5. She married firstly Sir Walter Leslie, Earl of Ross (
d
.1382), between 1357 and 13 September, 1366, and had issue:
1  Alexander, 9th Earl of Ross (
d
.1402); he married Isabella Stewart, daughter of Robert, Duke of Albany (
above), and had issue.
2  Mary, Countess of Ross (
d.c.
1435); she married Donald Macdonald, Lord of the Isles (
d
.1423) (son of Margaret, daughter of Robert II), and had issue.
Euphemia was styled Lady of Ross from 9 February, 1372, following the death of her father; she was styled Countess of Ross during her second marriage to Alexander Stewart. She died between 5 September, 1394, and 20 February, 1395, and was buried in Fortrose Cathedral, Ross and Cromarty. There was no issue of her marriage to Alexander.

She married Sir Thomas de la Haye, 7th Lord of Erroll (

.1406), before 7 November, 1372, and had issue:

2  Gilbert of Dronlaw, a knight; he married Elizabeth Reid, and had issue.

4  Alice; she married Sir William Hay of Locharret.
5  Daughter (name not known); she married Norman (?), son of Andrew Leslie, and had issue.

She married firstly James Douglas, 2nd Earl of Douglas (1358?–killed 1388), after 24 September, 1371 (date of dispensation), perhaps in 1373 (?), and had issue:

Isabella married secondly Sir John Edmondston of Duntreath in 1388/90, and had issue:

Isabella died in

She may have been a daughter of Robert II by Elizabeth Mure. She married Sir Robert Logan of Restalrig, by whom she may have had issue, although no details are recorded. She died after 1394 (?).

She married John MacDonald, Lord of the Isles (1326?–1387), after 14 June, 1350 (date of dispensation), and had issue:
1  Donald, Lord of the Isles (

.1435), daughter of Sir Walter Leslie by Euphemia, Countess of Ross (

), and had issue.
2  John, known as Ian Mor Tanisteir (murdered 1427); he married Marjorie, daughter of Sir Hugh Bisset, and had issue.
3  Alexander, known as Alastair Carrach; he married and had issue.
4  Angus.
5  Hugh, Thane of Glentilt; he married and had issue.
6  Marcus.
7  Mary; she married Lachlan Maclean of Duart.
8  Elizabeth or Margaret; she married Angus Duff Mackay of Strathnaver.

She married firstly John de Dunbar, Earl of Moray (

2  Alexander; he is said to have married Matilda, daughter of James Fraser of Frendraught, and to have had issue.

4  Euphemia; she married Alexander Cumming and had issue (?). Marjorie married secondly Sir Alexander Keith of Grandown before 24 April,

Marjorie died after 6 May, 1417.
Robert II married secondly
, after 2 May, 1355 (date of dispensation) (although no evidence exists as to where):
Euphemia
She was the daughter of Hugh, 6th Earl of Ross, by Margaret Graham. She married firstly John Randolph, 3rd Earl of Moray (
d
.1346). She was crowned Queen Consort in 1372 at Scone Abbey, Perthshire. She died in 1387.
Issue of marriage:

He was born around 1356/60. He was created Earl Palatine of Strathearn on 26/27 March, 1371, and Earl of Caithness between 21 November, 1375, and 28 December, 1377. He died before 5 March, 1389, perhaps in February (?), 1389 (?), or perhaps as early as 1382.
David married a lady whose name is not recorded:
She was the daughter of Sir Alexander Lindsay of Glenesk, by Katherine, daughter of Sir John Stirling of Glenesk.

She was born before 1375, and succeeded her father as Countess Palatine of Caithness and Strathearn before 5 March, 1389. She resigned the earldom of Caithness before July, 1402. She married firstly Sir Patrick Graham of Dundaff and Kilpont (

.1413) before December (and perhaps by 24 August), 1406, and had issue:
1  Malise, Earl of Strathearn and Menteith (

.1407–1490); he married a lady called Janet (

.1530), possibly a Campbell of Glenorchy, and had issue.
2  Euphemia (

3  Elizabeth or Anne; she married Sir John Lyon (

Euphemia married secondly Sir Patrick Dunbar of Bele (

. after 1438), and had issue:

Walter
He was born in

.1360, and was created Baron of Brechin in 1378. He was created Earl of Caithness before July, 1402, and Earl of Atholl on

.28 April, 1404. He was created Baron Cortachy on 22 September, 1409, and Earl Palatine of Strathearn on 22 July, 1427. He resigned the earldom of Caithness in favour of his son Alexander around
c
.1428/30: 13 December, 1429, is the most probable date. He succeeded Alexander as Earl of Caithness in late summer, 1431. His honours and estates were declared forfeit on 26 March, 1437, and he was executed with appalling barbarity on the same day in Edinburgh as punishment for his part in the murder of James I.
