Chapter One

Jennifer squeezed Bruce’s hand and opened her eyes wide. She couldn’t believe it and watched the room - and all these people - in astonishment. It was crazy; no, it was completely insane.

Jennifer couldn’t understand how these couples could do that... yet, she was fascinated. Everybody was having sex in a wild and torrid atmosphere. There were no barriers and no taboos. Almost everyone was naked and busy giving or receiving pleasure.

Wow...

Jennifer was confused. She didn’t know what to think and was completely frozen. She was scared, excited, shocked, horny and disgusted, all at the same time. Her conscience told her to look away and turn around. They didn’t need to stay. They could just call a taxi and wait outside. They didn’t have to watch this.

However, she did nothing. She just stayed there and watched. Deep inside, she was in admiration and hypnotized. Even though she wasn’t comfortable, she couldn’t convince herself to leave. She was extremely curious. She wanted to stay and see how it worked.

Marc and Jeanne, the French couple, told them to relax and enjoy. Jeanne rubbed Jennifer’s back and smiled.

“Do you like it?” Jeanne said.

Jennifer forced a smile and nodded. “That’s... strange.”

“At the beginning, it’s always very strange. But be honest with me, please. Tell me you think it’s exciting...”

Jennifer hesitated and thought for a second. She couldn’t lie, not even to herself; she did like it.

“Yes... I think it’s very exciting. It’s amazing...”

“Are you guys in a serious relationship?”

“Yes. We’re married. We came to France for our honeymoon, actually.”

“Wow, congratulations!”

“Thank you.”

“How’s your intimate relationship?”

Jennifer frowned. “What do you mean?”

“I mean, how is it in bed with your husband?”

“It’s very good. We have no problem,” Jennifer said. She felt quite defensive and didn’t want a stranger to ask that kind of questions.

“Aren’t you bored sometimes?”

“No. Never.”

“So you never had anything with someone else?”

Jennifer kept silent and Jeanne immediately noticed it.

“Ah, I touched a sensitive button.”

“No, you didn’t.”

“Yes, I did. I can see this kind of things... I know when a woman feels the need to spice things up with another partner.”

“Don’t talk so loud, for Christ’s sake. And I’m not like that.”

“Like what?”

“That kind of person.”

“Don’t be so defensive. There’s nothing to be ashamed of. It’s perfectly natural to be attracted to other men. There’s nothing wrong with you.”

“I know there’s nothing wrong with me,” she lied. She thought about Enzo and what had happened between them, and she blushed.

Somehow, Jeanne - a perfect stranger - had seen through Jennifer in just a few minutes. It was like Jennifer was naked and couldn’t hide the truth from her.

“You sound so... fake. Sorry to be so blunt but I can tell you’re not as innocent as you appear; or want to be seen, at least.”

“Listen, Jeanne. We’re not friends so I will pretend we never had that conversation.”

“You wouldn’t react that way if you had nothing to hide,” Jeanne said with a smile.

Jennifer hated her. She was right and Jennifer was afraid that Bruce could hear them. She grabbed Jeanne’s elbow and dragged her away.

“What do you want? Why do you make me feel so uncomfortable in front of my husband?”

“I’m trying to help you.”

“Is it a joke? You’re trying to break me.”

“No, I don’t. I’m trying to liberate you from your guilt and your unspeakable desires.”

Jennifer froze and stared at her straight in the eyes. It didn’t sound like Jeanne was faking it. She looked genuine and it was quite disturbing to hear the truth. It was true. Jennifer felt guilty for what she had done but she couldn’t fight her inner desire to have a wild sexual life.

“How did you know?” Jennifer said.

“I see a lot of couples. Marc and I have been swingers for eight years now. I’ve had a lot of partners during these years and I can tell when someone is into it or not.”

“And what did you see in me?”

“You would love it.”

Jennifer turned red but horny at the same time.

“You’re playing with me.”

“No... Look at the way you just reacted. You know how you felt when I just told you that you’d love it? That’s your signal. Your body and your subconscious want you to try. It’s just that you’re too inhibited.”

Jennifer said nothing. Now, she wanted to know more and Jeanne didn’t seem like a pain in the ass anymore. She seemed to know what she was talking about.

“What do you do for a living?” Jeanne said.

“I’m currently trying to launch a cooking business.”

“Okay... business owner. And your husband?”

“He’s a big businessman.”

“So you guys have a certain social status, I assume?”

“I don’t. But Bruce is a celebrity in a certain way.”

“I see... Well, nobody knows you in here.”

“And?”

“And you can do whatever you want. Nobody will know. And most importantly, nobody will judge, not in here. We’re a very friendly and respectful community.”

“Good for you...”

“Don’t be so distant. Come on, you’re still here. Nobody forced you to stay. You could have left a long time ago but you didn’t. You want it. I know you want to try but you refuse to let go.”

Jennifer shrugged. Jeanne sounded like she wanted to help and for some reason, Jennifer was curious to know more. How could she know so much about her?

“You know how to read people,” Jennifer said.

“You’re easy to read... You look so innocent but I can see a goddess behind that mask. In bed, you’re wild and fierce. You love having sex.”

“Everybody does...”

“No, not everybody. You have that energy, I can feel it.”

Jennifer shrugged again but she was flattered. It felt good to convey that kind of image.

“So, tell me about the other guy,” Jeanne said.

Jennifer felt her heart race and put her finger on Jeanne’s lips.

“Shhh... Are you out of your mind? Bruce could hear you. And I never said anything about any other guy!”

“Well, judging by your reaction, there is clearly another guy.”

“There was. But it’s over. And it was before we got married, anyway.”

“I’m not judging... relax.”

“What do you want then?”

“Was it good? Did you feel guilty?”

“Come on, I didn’t sleep with him. We flirted and it was... very steamy.”

“But you wanted to have more, right?”

“Of course, I did. But I didn’t.”

“Why?”

“Because I love Bruce. I can’t do that to him.”

“You see, that’s exactly why Marc and I do what we do.”

Jennifer said nothing and tried to understand what it was supposed to mean. It didn’t make any sense to her.

“I don’t get it,” she said.

“You see, I love Marc and he loves me. We don’t want to hurt each other. However, we’re still humans and we have basic needs. We still want to have fun and sometimes, it means we need to go our separate ways.”

“You’re in an open relationship...”

“Not really. I don’t allow him to do anything behind my back. However, when we come here, things change.”

“What’s the difference?”

“When we come to a club like this one, we agree that we are allowed to express our deepest desires. It’s purely physical. He has to allow me to go with someone else and I do the same. If we don’t feel it, we just say it and nothing happens.”

“It’s about trust?”

“Oh no. Trust can’t be an issue anymore at that stage. Trust must be a given. If there’s no trust, there will be jealousy and we’ll hurt one another.”

“Doesn’t it hurt you to see him with someone else?”

“I want him to be happy. I don’t have any doubts about his feelings for me but I understand that sexual attraction happens. I don’t want him to feel trapped in our relationship.”

“Why do you need to agree then?”

“It’s a matter of respect more than anything else. I can’t control who he will be attracted to.”

“So basically, you always say yes and allow him to do it...”

“Not always. Sometimes, I’m not in the mood to share. In that case, we watch other people and we make love, just the two of us.”

“I see... It’s still very new to me though.”

“It has to be fun. If it feels like a chore, don’t do it.”

“Well, thank you for educating me. I don’t know if I’m ready though.”

“Do you still think about that other guy?”

“Sometimes...”

“Do you wish you could have slept with him?”

Jennifer blushed and cleared her throat.

“It’s getting very personal. I think we should stop now.”

Jeanne chuckled.

“You have fantasies deep inside of you and you refuse to acknowledge them. You should embrace your wildest desires...”

“How? I’m married. Bruce will never forgive me if I tell him.”

“Just let him know that you have secret thoughts. Be gentle and subtle.”

“He will kill me if I tell him I’d like to be taken care of by two men at the same time.”

“So that’s your dream?”

“Yes... I guess so. I had visions of this kind of situation and I liked it.”

“It can happen here...”

“Bruce will never agree.”

“You never know unless you try.”

Someone called them. It was Marc, Jeanne’s boyfriend. He was holding a bottle a champagne and four glasses in his hands. It was clearly an invitation. Jennifer wondered if she wanted to spend more time with the French couple or if it was time to leave.

She took Bruce’s hand and told him to get closer. She leaned toward his ear and whispered, “Do you want to leave now?”

Bruce smiled and shook his head.

“Hell no, this is too much fun.”

Jennifer stared at him and swallowed hard. Was he into it? Was he willing to “exchange” her for another woman for the night? Would he allow her to explore her wildest and craziest fantasies with a complete stranger?

“Really? You’re sure you want to stay?” She said.

“Yeah... We’re here to enjoy, Jen. It’s our honeymoon, come on.”

“I know, but this isn’t just any regular club. Don’t you feel uncomfortable?”

“I feel horny...”

“Me too. Isn’t it crazy? All these people look so happy. There’s no jealousy and no animosity between them. It’s like they’re just enjoying a barbecue with friends...”

“That’s quite interesting. We should stay and see what happens...”

Jennifer said nothing and smiled. She felt butterflies in her belly but the intensity was incredible. She felt like she was a virgin again and discovering sex for the first time. It was that kind of amazement mixed with wonder for things that belonged to the unknown.

“Let’s stay then,” she finally said. “Let’s see how Europeans party behind closed doors.”

Jennifer and Bruce took a table with their new friends. They finished the bottle fairly quickly and Bruce ordered another one. After two glasses, Jennifer relaxed and felt her initial fears slowly disappear.
