Chapter Three
Ethan’s cock stirred as he listened to Diane’s irregular breathing. He wanted her from the moment he noticed her, and now that he had her. It was unlike him to allow a woman to creep into every thought throughout his day, but to him, Diane was just not some woman. There was much more to her and he wanted to discover what that was. There was no way in hell he’d allow her to slip through his hands.
His cock hardened as the faint hint of her musky fragrance and perfume flirted within his nostrils. His mouth watered as he imagined tasting and teasing her slick folds. He wondered what she would taste like. He knew she was beautiful, and her voice was perfection; like the sweetest music he’d ever heard. Curiosity at what she looked like niggled at him. He just had to ask. Ethan knew he was taking a chance, and hoped she would not shoot him down.
He wanted to ask many questions about her, but didn’t want to frighten her away. He experienced a bit of remorse at the thought of listening in on her intimate moments, but that was a little secret he planned to keep to himself. First things first, he was curious about what she did for a living.
“So, tell me Diane. What do you do?
“I make natural hair care products.”
“Oh?”
“I stopped putting chemicals in my hair five years ago and the struggle to find a good moisturizing product without a lot of harsh chemicals inspired me to create my own.
Ethan smiled. Race was unimportant to him, but somehow he knew all along she was an ebony beauty. His imagination ran wild as he tried to picture her in his mind.
“That’s an intriguing story,” he said with admiration. “I’m very happy for your success.”
“Thanks. I really never expected for my business to grow. I mean, I didn’t set out to start a business. Sometimes I’ll treat myself and go to my favorite salons and I would bring my products with me. There are a lot of natural ladies who have difficulty finding the right products for their hair and thanks to my stylist. Well—she purchased a couple of jars from me, one thing led to another and before I knew it, I was in demand.”
Ethan raised his coffee cup. “Well, here’s to your amazing success.”
Diane raised her cup and took another sip of her coffee. “Renee, my stylist suggested I introduce my line to as many salons as I could. I haven’t looked back since. Now, what do you do?”
“I’m a guidance counselor at Adventist High. As of late I’ve been dealing with children who have some serious problems with their families. Some are bullies, some are suicidal, and most have families who don’t support them in their school activities. You’d be surprised at how many children who actively participate in drama club, but I’ve yet to see most parents show up to their plays. I know a few kids who play football, yet their parents don’t even bother to show up to any of their games. I try not to bring my work home, but I’ve discovered that’s next to impossible. Sometimes, they just need to be heard, need someone they can talk to. Someone who will actually listen and care.”
“I’m sorry to hear that. How do you do it?”
He arched a brow. “Do what?”
“Not allow your job to consume you.” She continued. “I think I’d be a nervous wreck.”
Diane’s voice was comforting, and speaking to her was a luxury he wished he could partake in more often. “I’ve always been a good listener,” he admitted. “Talking to others about their problems helps me maintain a certain level of balance and divert my attentions from my own worries. You see, everyone has problems, some need help more than others. Observing another’s hardships makes mine seem unimportant.”
“I see,” she replied. “Sometimes, we become lost in the difficulties in our lives, thinking we have it hard.”
“
Exactly.
I’ve always enjoyed helping others with their problems. That’s my gift and I embrace it fully.” He heard her sigh.
A friend of mine used to be a social worker and she cried every night after work. It really took a toll on her and eventually, for her own sanity, she had to give it up.”
He nodded. “I had considered becoming a social worker long ago, but knew I didn’t have the stomach to continue with it. Are you originally from Maryland?”
“Yes, I lived out in the county for a bit, Ft Meade, to be exact.”
“Ah, yes. I have a few relatives in the surrounding areas, but the majority of my family live in Boston, Massachusetts. I’ve always been a city person,” he admitted. I really can’t imagine living anywhere else.”
“Thanks, but I’m no stranger here. I used to live on the West side when I was a child. I pretty much know the city like the back of my hand. And you?”
“I’ve lived in the area most of my life. I moved to Crofton for a short period of time.” He grimaced at the distant memory of his ex. It had been several years, but it still stung. “But, it was for the best that I returned to Baltimore. What prompted you to move here?”
“My divorce.”
Ethan nodded. “I see.”
“I needed a fresh start, so I returned to Baltimore,” she said with a smile. “What about your family?”
“My family is small, and we’re not very close. I’m sort of a loner.”
“An introvert?” Diane chuckled. “I am too.”
“Well, Diane Belamont. It would seem we have much in common. I’m so glad you’re finally comfortable with me.”
“I was never uncomfortable with you.” She lied.
“Are you sure about that?” Was she not telling the truth to spare his feelings? If so, he didn’t want that.
“Ethan.
He heard her shift in the vinyl seat. “Admit it.”
“Admit what?” He felt her heated gaze on him. There was so much pent up inside her.
“I want your complete honesty, Diane.”
“Okay—yes, I was uncomfortable with you. At first.”
He couldn’t help but to notice her voice wavered again. “Your voice gave you away, and how much you squirm in your seat.” His cock hardened. Maybe he did ignite a little fire within Diane, but she refused to admit it. Now all he had to do is give her the little push in the right direction.
Chapter Four
“Perhaps it is not my being blind that made your voice shake?” Ethan smiled, and Diane suddenly wished she’d kept a spare pair of panties in her purse.
Ethan leaned forward with a serious gleam in his eyes and said,
“I mean,
from the moment I heard your voice, I’ve wanted to lick you from head to toe until you beg for more. I will not lie and say I have not thought of making love to you until we both come together. Besides wondering what type of person you were, the very thought of you collapsing in my arms after you come was all I could think about.
Diane’s jaw dropped as Ethan’s words stunned and aroused her all in one setting. Something told her he was aware of the effect he had on her. She also knew he wasn’t naïve to the fact that he was at fault for her loss of words. She could only ascertain this because of the seductive gleam in those icy blue depths of his.
“Why would you say something like that to me?” Diane cocked her head to the side, observing the man. He didn’t appear to be some sicko-psycho who preyed upon unsuspecting women. At least she hoped he wasn’t. She seriously pondered the idea of meeting him somewhere, only if he asked. She did not want to appear wanton.
“Because, I know we would enjoy each other’s company, only I didn’t have the nerve to approach you.”
She had to admit, the countless times they passed each other she failed to seize the opportunity. Now opportunity presented itself to her. What was she going to do with it?
May I have your phone number, or allow me to give you mine if it would make you feel more comfortable. I just know we’ll enjoy our time together.”
Diane looked towards the counter, trying to steal enough time to think. She then glanced at her watch. There was at least half an hour of her lunch break left before she had to return home to her tedious bookkeeping. “Ethan—I
“I just need to know you better. I’m not looking for a one-night stand, Diane.
“Neither am I.” That eased her mind somewhat, but she had to admit his brute honesty turned her on. “What do you want to do?”
“Tomorrow is Friday, come to dinner with me.”
His voice was magnetizing, yet demanding, and Diane loved it. She wanted to know what type of lover he’d be. She swallowed, trying to dislodge the knot in her throat. Ethan was a breath of fresh air. Although she sensed a perfect gentleman, he was also bold. From the look in his eyes, she knew he’d please her until she climbed the walls. A decision had to be made now. She sipped her coffee as something inside her prompted her to retrieve the phone from her purse.
“Yes, I would love to go to dinner with you.” Without hesitating, they exchanged numbers. She smiled at the possibilities that were facing them both tomorrow. It had been quite some time since she’d dated. “I’m looking forward to this.”
“I’m looking forward to this as well. Diane, I must say, you have a beautiful smile.” Ethan spoke to her with a straight face.
“How did you know I was smiling?” Diane was shocked. Other than her grandfather who’d passed a few years ago, she really had never been around a blind person, let alone, someone she experienced a deep attraction to. Perhaps that was the reason she felt uneasy around Ethan.
“I could hear it in your voice.” Ethan’s features were relaxed, and a hint of curiosity splashed across his face. You smiled every time you greeted me.”
She felt herself blush, because it was true. Even in passing, the man brought a smile to her face. “You’re right, I was.”
“Diane, just one more thing.”
“Yes?”
May I see what you look like?” Ethan laid the cane on the floor and leaned on the table, waiting for her permission.
Heat coursed throughout her veins as she discovered he wanted to feel her facial features. She yearned for his touch. Looking around, she noticed there were only a few other people in the café.
“I suppose. Yes.”
Diane sucked in a breath as Ethan gently cupped her face. Her pulse quickened when his thumbs brushed over her forehead and down the length of her nose. His index fingers explored her eyelids and temples as she shivered. His touch was electrifying, sensual, and ignited every nerve ending. He brushed her skin, lightly teasing, while stirring strong feelings within her. Ethan continued his exploration along her cheekbones, and towards her earlobes. Gently, he caressed her tightly coiled strands.
“You’re so beautiful. I love your high cheekbones, and your hair. So soft.” Ethan’s voice grew raspy and he caressed her cheek with his right hand. The other hand allowed his fingers to brush against her quivering lips. Gently, he traced the outline of her mouth, and traveled beneath her jawbone, where he gently stroked her chin. Diane was like putty in his hands once Ethan had completed exploring her face.
“Why did you do that?” Diane was breathless, and she yearned for this touch to gravitate along the length of her neck, and continue further down her body. A part of her wanted to bed him tonight.
“You have a beautiful round face, and you lips, so succulent and full. As I said before, you are a beautiful woman, inside and out. I better not touch you again, or we both might do something we’ll regret.”
Diane closed her eyes, allowing his words to seduce her. “I’ll remember how you touched me for the rest of the night.” She closed her eyes, chastising herself for saying such a thing out loud.
“And, once again you’ll star in all my fantasies tonight,” He admitted without blinking.
So, he fantasized about her? She licked her lips and cleared her throat at his admission. She bit her lip before shifting in the booth, feeling the saturated panties molding themselves against her soft folds. Even though Ethan was blind, she felt the need to hide her facial expressions from him. She wished they both could wander off somewhere and surrender to their deepest passions.
“Why so quiet?” he asked. “The walls are indeed, thin my love.”
She gasped. Had he heard her masturbating late at night? “Yes, the walls are thin indeed,” she managed to say. “I hope I haven’t—disturbed you in any way.”
“You never bother me,” he stated with a smoldering look in his eyes. “I love the sound of your voice.”
So he did hear her pleasuring herself all those times. “I should leave,” she gasped.
“No, don’t.” He reached for her hand and gripped it tight. “Often, you’ve made me want to knock on your door and join you.”
Secretly, she wished he had.
“What were you thinking about,” he asked with a low, throaty growl.
“I’m sorry, but I can’t tell you that, not right now.” Before she laid eyes on Ethan, she’d fantasized about many men. Some she’d seen on television, or most she’d concocted in her wild imagination. How could she tell him he starred in her vivid fantasies?
“Okay, I understand. But, one day you’ll tell me every explicit detail?”
“Yes, I promise.” She released a breath.
He arched a brow. “Perhaps, even show me?”
She damn near choked on her coffee, and cleared her throat.
“Okay, I’ll behave—for now,” he teased with a slight chuckle.
For the remainder of their time together, they spoke as though they were old friends. Diane cringed when she realized they’d spent another hour talking.
“I’m sorry, I must get back to my bookkeeping.” She didn’t want him to feel as though she were giving him the brush off. Ethan smiled as she rose to her feet, and put her coat on. He rose as well, reaching out for her hand.
“It was a pleasure meeting you Diane.” Her heart sank when Ethan lowered his head and planted a soft, gentle kiss on the back of her hand. The mere touch of those soft lips of his shot fire through her body, and her pussy clenched several times. God, how long had it been since she had a man? Ethan had her on the brink of a much needed climax.
“It was nice to meet you
too,
Ethan.” Diane was panting, and she didn’t care to hide it from him. She wanted him, just as much as he wanted her.
“Then, I shall see you tomorrow?”
Ethan’s gaze pierced her soul once again.
“Yes, you can count on it.”
“Good. Allow me to walk you home?”
She chuckled. “Sure.”
His eyes sparkled. “What’s so funny?”
“It’s just that, we live right next door to each other.” What she really wanted to say as they strolled out of the café and across the street was, how the hell could she sleep tonight knowing what Ethan was thinking? Could they make it through the night without caving and seeking each other out? She’d definitely be using the vibrator later on, but this time she planned to pleasure herself in the bathroom, where she was sure Ethan couldn’t hear her.
“Well, here we are.” Ethan leaned casually against the frame of her door and appeared to study her.
“I really enjoyed tonight,” she admitted casually. She couldn’t help but study his features and wondered how his lips would feel against hers.
“Me too,” he replied before turning on his heel and walking several arm lengths to his apartment. Before taking his keys out of his pocket he turned to face her. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Yes, tomorrow.” Breathless, Diane unlocked her apartment and slipped in.
