Red walls played against the rays of the flaming sun. Square
patterned table mantles shawled the antiquated and scratchy desks that turned
into dining tables for those diners who had tittle to spend on their meals.
This primitive barn, café rather, was Natalia’s favorite spot in town. It was
old and rusty, but man the food was to die for. No modern cuisine – everything
was traditional and homemade, something she missed so much about her mother who
would have been fifty today.
Sitting firmly on the Mahogany wooden chair opposite Thom,
Natalia took her gaze from him to the child sitting alone. The child’s eyes
wandered around, observing the foreign land where strangers walked past her,
heedless she was extremely terrified. Only Natalia could feel the beating of
the child’s heart who happened to have the same hair color as hers.
Thom’s countenance looked in question. He was wondering what
took her attention from him. The waiter came over…
“Natalia, are you okay?” He asked, while taking the menu
list from the waiter’s hands who was peeking down at her tits. She was wearing
this daring and lust-after neon green singlet that attracted everyone’s
attention. Even Thom couldn’t resist to stare at her perfectly rounded breasts.
“Ha? Oh yes, of course. Sorry, I’m just thinking of
something,” she smiled with such poise that made the waiter’s cock to stiffen.
“So, what we having?” She looked at Thom for an answer.
“Whatever you wish…” he smiled back, teasing her.
She brought her gaze at the waiter who was still glancing at
her drooling cleavage. As she realized her breasts were being feasted on, she
quickly grabbed her leather red jacket from the chair next to her.
Pervert!
The lecherous waiter straightened his body like a soldier, getting ready for
the battle. His Adam’s apple poked out as he swallowed his fear, hopeful Thom
wouldn’t beat him up for lusting over his ‘girlfriend’.
“Please, give us fish and chips, lasagna, macaroni salad…”
she paused as she continued studying the menu list. “Ummm… and wine, thanks.
Oh, wait… actually water would be better.” She said to the fading waiter who
was in a hurry to escape.
“Why not wine? I could afford it, you know.” Thom leaned
forward just to whisper he could afford anything.
“I know, but the wine here is disgusting. I heard they mix
it with old people’s urine, yuck!” She poked her tongue out, exaggerating her
distaste.
“Nasty!” His face turned sour.
“I know right…” she giggled.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the café, in the very corner
where no one could literally see it, Mellissa was talking to someone on the
phone.
“I know… you don’t have to shout at me. I ain’t deaf!” Her
voice went an octave higher, making both Thom and Natalia turn in wonder to see
who it was. They recognized the grumpy voice, but weren’t certain if their
suspicion was true. They were in share disbelief that she’d be in this rugged
and old café.
“I’m going back very soon, so don’t you worry. Yes, I love
you. I swear…” She was talking to her sugar dad back in England. She promised
him she’d only be here in America for a couple of days, but it’d been two weeks
now since she arrived. She couldn’t go back because Thom kept refusing to come
with her to England where she lived. She was adamant to give him another
chance, but one turned to two, and two became three, and so on…
“Fuck!” She chucked her phone away, crashing it into pieces.
The back cover flew all the way to the toilet’s entrance, and the battery
stayed on the phone. Her phone itself decided to sit far away from her grip,
close to the other diners.
Back to them, Thom and Natalia sat quietly, enjoying the
power of peace as they listened to Mozart’s music. It was soft and relaxing. To
be honest he hated it, but he did not want to spoil the fun, so he shoved his
bear pride away.
“There you go sir, and ma’am. Please, enjoy your meal. And
if ever you need help, please don’t hesitate to raise your hand for assistance.
Thank you!” It wasn’t the same waiter who took their order, perhaps he was too
terrified to be eaten alive by Thom. It wasn’t too surprising because Thom was
a huge guy with well-built barreled chest, biceps whose veins could almost pop
out, and a sharp look that would kill someone in the blink of an eye.
As soon as the new waiter vanished, she quickly hopped over
to the food as if she hadn’t eaten for decades. Thom, however, saw that as the
genuine characteristic of a real woman. He followed every bite she took,
imaging himself biting that plump lips of hers which he failed to kiss last
night.
“Why aren’t you eating? Are you full?” She asked, shocked
that he wasn’t touching his food.
“Not really, I just enjoy watching you eat that lasagna.
It’s juicy, isn’t?”
“Yes, it’s very juicy…” Her eyes rolled, expressing how
tasty the lasagna was.
“Mine is tasty too,” he joked. But she didn’t quite get the
humor.
“I know, it looks very juicy, alright. Do you mind if I
taste it?”
“Now? I-I mean, there’s quite a lot of people in here…”
“What do you mean? It’s just right there, in front of you.
What are you thinking?” Surprisingly, she was able to talk back, despite the
thick cheese stuck in her throat.
“Aaah… I thought you mean my, you know…”
Then she got it. “Yuck, gross… I’m eating. Don’t be gross,”
she hissed.
“Just kidding. Love you Nat!” After he let the last word
flow out, he filled his mouth with the whole piece of stake, barely cooked as
he still tasted the blood oozing out of the flesh.
Love you too.
She slowed down, not because she was
already full, but rather, to let his
love
sink into her head. And then
the silence fell, but this time it was a mutual quietude that bonded them
together with true love and respect which surpassed the desire of the flesh.
As they were finishing their meals, something caught
Natalia’s attention. Out of the blue, her breathing went heavy as if a cat
stuck in her chest. She swallowed burning coals that slowly and excruciatingly
tormented her throat that seized her from speaking. Butterflies roamed around
her stomach as she witnessed her ducked down and picked up something.
Her astonishment stole Thom’s attention as when he was about
to mouth the last strand of spaghetti, he noticed her frightened visage. Then
everything made sense when he smelled that familiar perfume.
He turned around, and saw her staring back at them with
shared panic and surprise.
“Mellissa?” Thom uttered.

Table of Contents
Natalia, Thom, Mellissa, and Tonya
Thom was almost in, but thanks for
the phone call
Tonya’s cup of
tea rippled as she sat it on the side table. It spilt, but she couldn’t care
less about it. Her maid could clean it up for her. She was sick and tired of
being poor. All those years she spent working her ass
off
seemed futile, especially now that Mellissa no longer needed her.
Since her
ex-husband abandoned them, all she worried about was how to get her butt out of
destitution for the sake of her daughter’s future so much that she’d forgotten
to be a mother. It was obvious she regretted it. How she wished to bring back
time and redeem every loss moment to nurture her daughter once more. Too late
now as Mellissa had become a woman of strong will, adamant to shape her own
destiny.
Her yellow
blouse glittered in the sunlight while she gazed out the window, thinking of
what she should wear for tonight’s dinner at her friend’s house. Tonya loved
having a cup of tea with her billionaire-married friends whose faces were
dotted with Botox and plastic surgeries, something she detested about. This had
been her dream – to be equal with nobilities with power and wealth. But her
ambition cost her more than what she bargained for. Nothing came free to this
materialistic world.
Tonya looked
across the road, opposite to the lounge where she was. And then she saw this
‘old lady’ who was about her age mowing the lawn with her purple pajamas still
clung on to her body.
“Oh dear,
horrible choice of fashion. Why can’t she wear something that suits her age? No
wonder her husband divorced her…” she murmured to herself as she rolled her
eyes away from her neighbour.
Extending her
arms to grab her tea, a familiar voice caught her attention. She carried her
gaze across the room seeking her fluffy pet. Perhaps she liked to play
hide-and-seek with her ‘mommy’. Where could she be? Underneath the couch? Nope,
she wasn’t there. What about at the back of the T.V. where she always hid her
fat belly? Not there either.
With the
certainty of where her cat was hiding, she grinned creepily as if plotting to
kill somebody. Her eyes squinted, narrowing as her head turned slowly to where
her cat was. “Oh, where could Penelope be?” she asked herself as she saw
Penelope’s white tail waving.
“Meowww…” her
cat voiced out, giving her a clue.
“There you are,
darling. What are you doing over there?” Her knees kissed the floor as she
reached out for Penelope, her baby. Since Mellissa neglected her mother’s nest,
Tonya felt so alone to the point that she was diagnosed with severe depression.
She tried her best to live as normal as she possibly could, but her mother
instinct seemed to stay behind after so many years she’d given birth. Perhaps
it was because she was raised in an orphanage where she longed to meet her
biological mother who never came, and would never come… For that reason, it had
always been her goal to never leave her child alone in fear she would become
like her own mother. And unfortunately, she did. Whether she liked it or not,
she had to admit she was just like her mother.
A
dopting
Penelope was without a doubt the best decision she’d ever made. Without her,
Mellissa would have to visit her mother in a mental hospital. And this was
something she’d never do. Over her dead body. It was understandable because,
let’s be serious, have you ever seen a celebrity visited anyone in a mental
hospital? Mind the paparazzi and those judgmental netizens on social media…
Penelope’s eyes
brightened. Tonya’s yellow blouse must have triggered her playful side as she
jumped into her master’s breasts, assuming they were balls of yarn to play
with. What a rude cat. Tonya thought she taught Penelope better than that.
“Ouch…” Tonya
cried out as her bottom met the floor, “Penelope, stop. Look, you hurt mommy.”
She looked at her ripped blouse, but there was no blood oozing out of her skin.
“Meowww…” she
purred her head on Tonya’s arms, asking for forgiveness. That lovely cat surely
knew how to get her master’s affection, and it seemed to work as Tonya
scratched her head with a gentle touch.
“Mommy loves
you, okay. She’ll never leave you alone anymore. She’s – she’s just here if you
ever need her…” Pellet of tears welled up in her eyes as she thought of
Mellissa. She looked up at the stainless steel picture frame where Mellissa’s
photo was safely treasured. She picked Penelope up and wrapped her arms around
her cloudy body, still weeping.
*****
As soon as
Mellissa heard Thom spoke her name, everything ceased to exist. The clock hung
on the wall refused to count, and every crumb that fell from the diners’ tables
defied the law of gravity. Silence stole the moment, snatching Thom and
Natalia’s romantic date. Why did Mellissa have to be in the same place as they
were? Was this part of her plan too?
Outside the
café, everything was going smoothly as usual, but the girl was now staring at
Natalia. Perhaps, she noticed they had the same hair colour with a matching
style of clothing. That girl was obsessed with neon clothes.
“Table 12, your
order is ready…” the bell rang as the waiter destroyed the deafening silence
that pierced through everyone’s ears. It seemed only the staffs weren’t
affected by the silent noise.
Still in shock,
Natalia couldn’t take her gaze off Mellissa.
Why is she here? Does she
already know?
Thoughts of panic played in her head like compound atoms that
danced in the atmosphere. The last thing she wanted to see was her, but it
seemed her fate was fooling her around.
Thom took a
huge gulf as he returned his gaze at Natalia. He could hear her heartbeat
running so fast that it could literally escape out of her ribcage. He swallowed
his hesitation as he glided his hand over hers to let her know he was on her
side. Sighing in great relief, he smiled as soon as he saw her looked at him in
the eyes.
“Don’t worry,
everything is gonna be fine. Trust me,” he motioned his lips for her to read in
fear that Mellissa would hear him.
In her
pretentious facial expression, she grinned as awkward as you could possibly
imagine hiding her terror, and pretend everything was going great.
Alright,
Natalia, she’s a friend. Now… calm yourself down,
she convinced herself,
but her hands seemed to have a mind of their own. They kept trembling,
revealing she was terrified.
On the other
end, Mellissa’s panic came to
a
stop as she realized
they did not know why she was here. She looked around as elegant as she could
possibly be without making anyone suspicious of what she was up to. In her
five-inched
Prada
heels, she stood as if readying herself to kill the
catwalk just as what she did in Milan the other year when she opened
Victoria
Secret’s
fashion show over there. It was a huge event that widened her
career to becoming a supermodel. But her luck seemed to have run out as she
almost got caught cheating.
She
straightened her upper body, chinning up as she leapt a foot forward.
Relax,
Mellissa, you’re not doing anything wrong. Just be yourself and act as if
nothing happened...
she commanded herself.
Heads began
turning when Mellissa started walking in her brand new Zac Posen’s pink blazer,
matched with her tight-fitting skirt that showcased her naturally structured
curve. On her left, a wife smacked her husband in the back head when she saw
him drooling at Mellissa’s stout butt. She raised her eyebrow, glad she’d made
another woman jealous of her again.
“What is she
doing here?” Natalia murmured to Thom, wondering if he’d invited her over.
“I dunno… I
don’t even know that she knows this place,” he explained as quiet as he could.
His countenance hinted truth and sincerity, but Natalia wasn’t that convinced.
She knew Thom couldn’t live without making a joke out of her. Countless times
he’d done that before, and she shouldn’t be surprised if he did it again. That
was just him, that side of his humanity that differed him from other werebears
out there.
Mellissa’s
heels knocked repeatedly on the ancient mahogany floor as she approached closer
and closer. She intentionally made her foot louder to make an ostentatious
entourage, allowing Natalia and Thom to be prepared to witness her glory. Every
step she took ate up the distance away from the two.
Heart rate
rising, and teeth chanting in nervousness, Natalia mopped her lips against each
other. Her lipstick smudged out, turning her into a clown, a puppet anyone
could manipulate. Thom sniffed danger…
Still a meter
away from them, Mellissa couldn’t seize her itchy mouth from talking. “Oh, how
sweet of you two…” She thought they were real siblings, but would she
understand everything if she learnt they weren’t?
Thom who was
feeling neutral and relax turned his gaze at Mellissa. An angel must have
passed by as he felt so mesmerized by her beauty. Even if he tried to resist
her enticement, he was still a man who had a craving for flesh. That night in
the resort after they had sex, he wanted to fuck her ass to see how wide her
anus could stretch out, but because it was a half-moon, his desire to feed
prevailed. Better luck next time, Thom.
Her blonde wavy
hair swayed fluidly as if she was in the shooting of
Palmolive
shampoo
commercial, which was to air next month. Her jiggling tits made Thom’s eyes
went up and down at her succulent chest that boasted pleasure in the paradise
of every man’s fantasy. He gulped his saliva stuck in his mouth, trying not to
recall the night he raped her voluntarily. Natalia’s presence also urged him to
behave accordingly.
“Hey there,
Mellissa,” Thom greeted, eyes on her breasts. He tried to keep them away, but
his carnal thoughts won his conscience.
“Hello, Thom.
How’s my man been?” Mellissa’s eyes lured him, making his dick erect again.
“Your man has
been well…”
Your man.
Really, Thom?
Natalia leered at Thom, showing she
was indignant of his flirtatiousness. All of a sudden, everything he told her
about disappeared like a vapour from a boiling water. She sat there like a
ghost, unseen by anyone. She kept her mouth shut as to not speak any erroneous
words that could put her life in the line. It was better to be quiet than to
utter ambiguous words that could be construed against her.
Mellissa’s gaze
was firmly fixed on Thom’s shimmering eyes that revealed his desire to sleep
with her again. “Very well,” she smiled sweetly as her eyes sparkled, hiding
her darkest secret under the mask of her charm, “I was just wondering, do you
want to hang out sometime next week? Tuesday, perhaps?”
Excitement and
confusion gambolled in his head. Whether he’d go or not, it was entirely up to
him. Just as when he was to agree, Natalia’s timid gesture grabbed his
attention. Without looking straight in her eyes, he sensed that she did not
like the idea of him going out with that bitch.
“Ummm…” Thom
made an uncertain sound to foreshow his refusal. “I’m not quite sure if I can
make it on Tuesday, Mellissa. I-I…” he paused, seeking the right lie to cover
another lie. “I’m going to help Natalia find a job on that day, right Nat?” He
switched his gaze at Natalia, who was now staring outside the café through the
double-glazed window.
Mellissa’s
countenance fell. With wrinkled forehead and crossed eyebrows, she looked older
than her mother. Anger will definitely make you look ten years older than your
actual age.
“Ha? Ummm…
sorry, I didn’t hear what you said,” she replied, oblivious to what was
happening. Stop dreaming girl – wake up! She looked puzzled, uncertain of what
to say.
Before Thom
could even repeat himself, Mellissa quickly cut in as she knew Natalia would
let him go. She took Natalia’s kindness as weakness and used that to her
advantage. With years of following stars in the Hollywood, she learnt that
being kind was a dangerous tactic to gain friends. You have to be cruel to be
gentle.
“Oh, hey there,
Natalia. I didn’t notice you’re there,” she grinned with a fake smile on her
face, revealing her rotten soul. Thom saw it, but couldn’t quite comprehend
what it really was. All he could see was her angelic face that spoke of
innocence and faith, but it was rather the opposite.
