I cried out in protest when Keir suddenly withdrew. “On your hands and knees,” he demanded, helping me roll into position. “I want to see that ass up in the air.”
“Yesss,” I hissed as I rose to my knees and elbows. I loved the way he gave commands, adored the very tone and sound of his voice. He slid inside me again with one swift movement, sinking to the hilt. The new position was different but just as intense. He reached around me to pluck at my nipples, so sensitive after the orgasms I’d just had. I pressed back against him and he chuckled.
“You submit so beautifully and you don’t even know it,” he said, “I’m gonna make this good for you, baby.” Then he hammered into me again.
I would be nothing but a puddle before Keir was through with me. His powerful surges rocked my whole body, driving the air out of my lungs and the thoughts out of my brain. My entire existence shrank to a pinpoint—him, rock star, rock
god
, taking me like his life depended on it. I glanced back over my shoulder at him and drank in the sight—bulging muscles, the fine sheen of sweat, that dark, hungry look in his eyes. His lips were slightly parted as he breathed deeply with the effort of pounding me so hard and so fast for so long.
I gripped the sheets tight and held on—I was going to come again. I was oversensitive, covered in sweat, wrung out—but I was going to come again. Keir was going to make me.
As if he could read my thoughts, his hand snaked around my thigh and his thumb found my clit. I squealed and bucked as he circled the sensitive button. It felt so good that it almost hurt. It was almost too much. My back arched as I writhed with him, working with him to take us over the edge.
He swelled even harder and thicker inside of me, stretching me even wider, and I knew he was about to come. “Yes, yes,” I urged, bucking my hips to meet his thrusts. My exhausted body tensed and tightened. Keir rubbed and swirled his finger around my slippery clit, and I tumbled over the edge once more, clenching and spasming around him and grasping at the sheets.
His deep groans of pleasure drove me impossibly higher, and I dropped forward onto the mattress as he thrust himself deep and held himself there, his fingers bruising my hips. I could feel his organ pulsing with his release.
Chest heaving, Keir rolled to my side and wiped his brow. We stared at the ceiling and caught our breaths for an indiscernible amount of time. I’d lost all sense of the clock, and where we were, and even what year it was. I had no words for what had happened. Never in my life had a man made me feel like that—I’d thought that my few previous partners were adequate, but
fuck
… they were amateurs next to Keir.
He was right—he’d owned me. I felt high on it—high on
him.
The bed shook. It took me a second to realize he was chuckling. “Sorry,” he said, stroking my arm.
“Sorry?” I asked. “That was… I’ve never…” I was at a total loss for words.
“Exactly,” he said, then rolled to face me, propping his head up on his arm. “Let me guess: ‘no one’s ever fucked me like that.’ ”
“Not so vulgar,” I said, “But yes, something like that.”
He winked. “No one ever will, either.”I narrowed my eyes, despite my amusement. “Why’s that?”
“ ‘Cause I’m the best.”
I jabbed him in the ribs. “Got the biggest ego, too.” Part of me suspected he was right, though. One night was supposed to be easy—but one night had me completely hooked. I tried not to look at him, afraid my face would betray my thoughts.
But he pulled me close, looked down into my eyes, and kissed me again. Softly this time, gently, as our bodies still slowly calmed. “Good thing I’m on tour,” he grumbled, “I could get addicted to you.”
My heart stuttered. “I was thinking the same.”
“We’ve still got tonight, babe. It ain’t over.” Kier dipped his head low and kissed my breasts, one and then the other, stoking the fire within me back to life. I clutched his head to my chest as he left a trail of hot wet brands between them.
“Guess we’d better make it count.” A little part of me wondered if I should have ended it right then—said goodnight and gone on home. Every teasing word, every kiss, every hot promise got me more and more tangled up in him. That little part of me knew I ought to protect my heart.
But he was kissing and caressing the rest of me. He was tempting my legs back open and rolling us over so that I could look down on him, settle on his erection, and ride him to our mutual release, all as he growled up at me with that unbelievably sexy voice.
My poor dumb heart never stood a chance.
CHAPTER SIX
Keir
I woke in the morning to the smell of Cadence’s hair. It had come loose and was flowing around us on the pillow. Almonds. And… something else.
Sex
.
What a night it had been. I’d fallen asleep sated, but the memories were waking me up, making all my senses stir to life in a way that not even coffee could accomplish.
“Cadence?”
“Mmm?” She was at least partially awake, though her eyes were closed and she wore a dreamy smile. She reached out blindly. I grabbed her hand and entwined my fingers with hers. “Morning.”
I kissed her knuckles, then turned her hand and kissed her wrist. “Morning, babe.” Then I let her go and hurled the sheets away, sending them flying to the floor.
She giggled and curled in on herself. “Keir! It’s cold!”
“It’s not.” I crawled down the bed and kissed her between her breasts, burying my face in their soft flesh for just a moment before scooting lower to kiss her above her belly button.
My phone buzzed from the pocket of my jeans somewhere on the floor, but I ignored it. I didn’t need to be at the airport for hours. The original plan was to sleep in—but with Cadence in my bed, I had much better ideas.
I tugged one of her legs out from beneath the other and kissed her inner thigh. I wanted to spread her wide—but more than that, I wanted her to spread her legs herself and beg. I traced the soft skin up and down as I kissed my way down to the crease of her knee. “What are you doing?” she asked, propping herself up on her elbows.
“Waking you up.”
She swallowed. “I’m awake.”
“Good.” I left a trail of hot, wet kisses back up her leg, straight toward her center. She squirmed and stretched her other leg straight out, revealing just a glimpse of her sex.
Wider, baby
. I nuzzled at the crease of her leg, and she did as I wished, bending her knees, opening herself to me with a breathy moan.
“What–” she started to say, her eyelids heavy.
“You know what I’m doing.” I kissed her soft, pink folds, and she hissed. Her whole body tensed.
“Keir.”
I teased her with a soft wiggling of my tongue. The taste and the smell of her arousal made my head foggy, like I was drunk on her. And I needed more. I circled her clit until she was panting. Her fingers raked through my hair and her thighs trembled.
Close. Definitely close
.
Grinning wickedly, I backed away.Cadence groaned in protest. “So mean,” she said as I crawled up and over her.
“You come when I do,” I growled, gently sinking my teeth into her breast. I retrieved a condom from the floor and slipped it on without taking my eyes off her. She bit the tip of her finger and smiled back. God, was she just the picture of perfection right then, wearing that sultry look, spread wide and waiting. I knew right then that I’d never find another girl like her.
“Cadence,” I said, grinning, “You’re really something.” I draped myself over her body and she giggled.
“Something?”
This was going to stray into some emotional territory if I wasn’t careful, and neither of us wanted that. So I buried my face in her neck with a low growl and sank deep inside her with one, smooth thrust. She lifted her hips from the bed to meet mine and her fingernails scraped gently down my back.
The urgency of the previous night had been spent but I was still just as consumed by my need to take her, to own her. I gathered her arms together and locked them down next to her head, grasping her wrists with one hand and pressing them down into the mattress.
Her mouth fell open. I let my weight pin her to the bed as I ground myself inside of her, just short thrusts while I remained inside of her, deliberately rubbing against her clit.
She shuddered. “Oh, Keir, fuck. I’m so close.”
“Get there,” I commanded. Her cheeks flushed. She writhed beneath me and moaned out loud and it was nearly enough to undo me right then.
I pushed into her harder and her body tensed, then trembled. Her breathing paused—she was right on the edge. I kissed her hard, shoving my tongue inside her mouth, and she came apart, moaning, grasping, arching her back—only sheer willpower kept me from following her over the edge.
I slowed my movements and relaxed my grip. I kissed her softly, gently, easing her back down from the heights of her orgasm. She released a shuddering breath before opening her eyes. “You’re too good,” she said, “Too much.”
I smirked. “I know.” Then I growled, “Again.” I gathered up her wrists again and slammed them down above her head, lifting myself higher above her, positioning myself to pound her into oblivion.
Again, and again, and again… fuck
, I could have spent all day just as we were.
Looking down at her—her hair wild, so flushed and so ravished—something in my heart shifted. Shit, I really, really liked her. I crushed that unwelcome feeling. That idiot organ had led me astray too many times. I closed my eyes as I began to thrust, hard and fast. My cock was the only part of me that mattered right then. I was going to come so hard.
But not until I get one more out of her
.
It didn’t take long. The whole bed rocked and squeaked with the force of my movements. She felt so perfect, I fit so perfect… “Baby,” I grunted, “Come for me.”
“Yes, Keir, yes,” Cadence chanted. She wrapped her legs around my thighs and dug her heels into my ass as she urged me deeper, faster. Tilting her hips, she tugged hard against my grip, just once, as her body coiled and prepared to burst.
Too much. Too fucking hot
. I barely slowed as I exploded, grunting my release and whispering her name. The sensation of my cock swelling and spilling seemed to do her in. She cried out as her body convulsed below me.
Beautiful. Fucking perfect
. I kept moving until I was sure Cadence was done; until she groaned and tried to turn away, her body utterly satisfied and owned. I released her arms and crawled from the bed. My knees were shaky as I staggered toward the bathroom to clean up.
I closed myself inside and met my eyes in the mirror.
Shit
. This girl had me all wound up. It was a good thing I was leaving. Otherwise, I might have done something crazy, like asking her out again. Like inviting her to see my home, to meet my real friends, go on a real date,
fuck
.
Worst rock star ever.
When I emerged, I found her looking out the window, wearing a t-shirt I’d left dangling out of my luggage—and nothing else. The round cheeks of her ass peeked out from underneath. “Fuck, woman, you trying to get me going again?”
She turned and smiled. “I won’t be able to walk if we do too much more of that.”
“That’s fine with me.”
She gestured toward the guitar I had left sitting against the wall by my suitcase. “Is that the one you play in the studio?” she asked.
“I use a few different ones, depending on the song,” I said, picking up the bright red instrument. “This one’s old. I just use her for practice, now.”
“Her?” Cadence settled on the edge of the mattress.
“Mistletoe.” I bit my lip. I was saying too much. But she smiled softly and the words kept coming. “It belonged to my mother. She left it behind when she…” I gestured at the window behind me.
Disappeared. Took off. Left me
. I didn’t have to explain any further—Cadence knew; all my fans knew. Someone dug up that dirt, published it in an unofficial biography, and the pity hadn’t stopped since. I hated that the information was out there, but that was the cost of my business. I had to force the scowl off my face anytime I thought about it. Dwelling on it wouldn’t do me any good.
“It’s beautiful,” Cadence said, letting the moment pass without getting weird about it. “You’ve obviously taken good care of it.”
I cleared my throat. I’d said too much. “I don’t name all of my guitars, for the record.”
“It’s all off the record,” she said, looking down at her hands. “Promise.”
“I know.” I sat in the chair near the desk and played a few chords to cut the tension that had invaded our air. I plucked out the tune that I’d composed in my head the night that I met Cadence. She couldn’t hear it without the amp plugged in, but I played it anyway. It was too upbeat to ever go public. But it made me happy.
My phone buzzed from across the room but I continued to ignore it. Instead I plugged the guitar into my tiny travel amp and strummed a few chords of
Loose Ravens
, a song I’d written two years ago. I’d been utterly alone at the time, stranded in a Japanese airport for a night. I was lonely as all hell—I didn’t speak the language, my drummer was MIA, and there wasn’t another person on the planet that I wanted to talk to. Certainly not any of the girls that Sloane was trying to hook me up with. My father was too busy with some big work project. There was no one. So I wrote that song.
