Beauty and the Geek

Gone Geek 1

Professor Steven Kipper is used to the stares, the muttered insults. Monster. Disgusting. Gross. It's all he's ever known. Relationships suck when his date won't even go out in public with him, which is why he hasn't bothered. That is until her. The woman on the internet who gets his every quirk. He's hooked on a person he's never met. The way she gets his jokes, the uninhibited sexuality and…just talking to her. She's everything he's ever wanted, only she's a stranger. Unless he can convince her they should unplug and take their virtual relationship off-line.

Tamara Roh has heard all the insults from slut to whore and they bore her. She refuses to let other people define her. Life's tough in the gaming industry, and if she can't handle a few insults the haters will chew her up and spit her out. Her only haven is with her friends and in one very explicit chat room. On-line she can be anyone she wants to, even the normal girl-next-door who just happens to get off on dirty talk, erotic gifs and video chats from the neck down. She might not be able to trust guys in real life to see past the Hot Asian Girlfriend stereotype, but with her internet beau anonymity is her safety net. The only problem is…she's falling for a man who thinks she's someone else.

To the Real Life Tamara and Stephen,

here’s to another ten years of geeky, wedded bliss.

Please, never send me a dick pic again.

Ever.

You don't lose hope, love.

If you do, you lose everything
.

MRS. POTTS

Acknowledgements

Typically I put my acknowledgements at the back of the book, but this one is a special case.

This book would not have happened without the real life events that set it off. That version had a lot less drama involved. The only thing I understood when I received my very first dick pic was that a) it was a case of mistaken identity and b) whatever was going on in my friend’s life when she used my MySpace avatar as her dating profile image was a lot more complicated than I understood. While I could have gone a lifetime without seeing my friend’s now husband’s genitals, I’m thankful to have been part of their Happily Ever After. Here’s to many more years of happiness.

As with all books, it takes a village. Thank you to Dayna and Nina for making this story both touching and entertaining. There are not words enough to describe the magic you guys work between the pages. You are the true, unsung heroes of this book.

To my very own Adam—you might have tried to beat me down, but you haven’t won. And you never will. For all the other geeky girls out there, never be afraid to stand up for yourselves.

1.

Stephen Kipper stared at
the wavy line of the audio feed, imagining the curves were a woman’s body. Her body. The woman on the other end of his headset. That drawn-out moan was the slope of her breast, leading to the tightly beaded nipple, and the grunt was the sharp dip to her waist. The undulation, how her voice changed, was a sexual act in itself. The sounds—panting here, a moan there—coming through his headset were…hot was not a strong enough term, but his vocabulary was failing him.

“You there?” He swallowed, needing some sort of moisture in his mouth.

“Yeah?” The woman’s voice on the other end was strained, breathless, as if she were on the brink of an orgasm.

If he were keeping count, it would be the third this morning.

“Do you still have the box I sent you?” He reached for his control unit, a glove-like contraption with sensors and wires all over it. It wasn’t a pretty prototype, but it was functional, and that was all he cared about. He’d begun sketching the design not long after their first…interaction. He still had those first plans in his notebook.

“Yeah.”

He chuckled. They were into one-word territory. Always a good sign with the woman he’d come to call Pam.

“Open the box. Tell me when you have my present out.” He flexed his fingers inside the glove. In a way, this would be the most vulnerable act he’d ever performed.

They’d been doing this for months, after meeting in an adult chat room dedicated to sexual fantasies. They’d struck up a conversation about various Star Trek parody porn films and which was the best. It’d begun as a joke in private side messages, naughty, cyber sex language tossed between them until they’d each wanted something more than text on a screen. Something bordering on real. These chat sex dates were becoming a regular thing, almost every other day unless she was traveling, like now.

He had one photograph of her and a dozen other girls—and the sound of her voice. That was it. He didn’t know for sure which girl in the picture she was, but he’d been puzzling it out. Little questions here and there. He’d narrowed it down to two girls, and he was pretty sure he knew which one she was…

Stephen swallowed.

If Pam was who he thought she was…he was way out of his league. Girls that looked like her, hell like any of the girls in the picture, didn’t date guys like him. The past had proven that to him. Yet, here they were, almost every day.

It was probably pathetic, but phone nookie with her was the single most satisfying sexual relationship he’d ever had. Probably because she hadn’t seen him, but that was beside the point.

“What is it?” Her throaty chuckle was sensual. He closed his eyes, enjoying the sound of it.

“Plug it into your USB port.”

“Are you trying to find out who I am? Where I am?” Her voice took on a taunting tone.

“No, I promise.” Not a lie. He hadn’t bugged the device, though he had been tempted. That little bit of code wouldn’t be difficult to work out. Hell, he’d probably be able to do it without any bells and whistles, but he wouldn’t go there. He’d only use what she gave him. The picture. The dry details in her chat profile. What she told him. Nothing more.

Stephen had given up dating because—what was the point? He could work out, wear all the right clothes, say the right things, take his dates to the best places, but one look at his face and women walked away. And yet…he wanted to meet Pam. For the first time in years…he wanted to take that chance on a woman. He was willing to risk losing her. But she wouldn’t go there.

His father’s voice sneered from the recesses of his memory, speaking the unwanted truth:
If you meet her, if she knew your secrets, she’d never speak to you again. What would a woman like that want with a monster like you?

Stephen swallowed and shoved that ugly voice back into the depths of his mind. These moments were for him—and her. Whoever she was.

The closest he’d ever come to knowing where his mystery woman might be was when he’d sent the package to a drop location. She’d told him she was traveling and could pick it up on her way through L.A. His back yard. He could have hand-delivered it, but she’d said no. Something was going on in her life. He could hear it in her voice, the strain of it wore on her. He’d wanted to do something to cheer her up, and this present was the only thing he could think of that she’d accept.

It would have been so easy to program his present with GPS or some sort of information gathering worm. But he respected her privacy.

“Okay…it wants to connect to my Wi-Fi. What did you send me?” Her curious tone…smiled. If he had to picture her right now, her lips would be curving upward, there’d be a spark in her eye. He breathed a sigh, glad that for this moment, she wasn’t sad or stressed.

“It’s a thing I made.” He watched for the green light to flicker on his end.
There
. She’d allowed it to connect.

“What does it do?” Something squeaked in the background. Was she at a desk chair like his? Or lying down?

Stephen bent and flexed his fingers. The sensors inside the glove seemed to vibrate with life.

“Oh—wow!” Her gasp was music to his ears. “You—are naughty.”

“Figure it out yet?” He was more than a smidge proud of this design.

“Is this your dick?”

“No.” He didn’t have the balls to do something like that. “I modified a dildo. My sculpting skills leave a lot to be desired. When I move my fingers—it moves, too.”

“I need to make sure I locked the door. Hold on.” The call went fuzzy for a second. Light thumps marked her dash across a room and back. “I’m turning on my webcam.”

Wait—what?

He swallowed.

That was…unexpected.

She had only offered twice before, and he’d
never
asked. Not that he didn’t want to see her. He did. Too much, and that was the dilemma.

A box popped up, the picture dark, blacks and grays. She leaned back, but he could only see her from the shoulders down.

Fuck me.

She was naked. In a desk chair.

He nearly swallowed his tongue.

She was…again, his vocabulary seemed to lack words to describe her. She was perfect. A ten on all points. But he’d fallen for her long before the photograph, or now, seeing her body. Which was crazy. Who fell for a voice on the Internet?

He did, apparently.

“Can you see me?” she asked.

“Y-yeah.”

“I want to see you.”

He gulped and reached for the mouse with his left hand. Maybe it said something about their relationship, but he’d been prepared for that request. He couldn’t count the number of times he’d…performed seemed to be the wrong word, but she liked to watch him. And he had zero ability to tell her no. Besides, from the shoulders down wasn’t a problem. “You’re wearing clothes.” She crossed an arm over her generous breasts.

“This is about you,” he said and flexed his fingers.

She held his remote controlled dildo in her lap. Damn, but it was sexy seeing her with his little robot.

“Come on, you know I like to see you.” She palmed her breast, the tight, hard nipple visible between her fingers.

“I’ll take my shirt off.”

“The pants.”

“No, I’ll get distracted.”

“Don’t you like seeing me?”

“I do, but—”

“We could come together.”

Fuck.

“Fine. Hold on.” He slid the glove off his hand and stripped. Maybe he’d known she’d make this request, or maybe he’d hoped, because he’d only worn boxers and a T-shirt for this morning…date.

“I like looking at you,” she said.

He froze for an instant.

People didn’t like looking at him. He made them uncomfortable. But she couldn’t see his face, so she didn’t know. She couldn’t. Stephen inhaled, exhaled and reached for the glove.

“Everything okay over there?” She kicked her leg while her free hand stroked her skin. He was willing to bet the self-touching was for him, and he appreciated it.

“Fine. You ready to try this?” He slid his hand back into the control unit and kept his gaze on the video feed.

“I wish this was you.” She pumped the silicone dildo and he closed his left hand around his cock.

Yeah, he’d like her hands on him, too. Enough that he was seriously considering a face-to-face.

“Imagine it’s me.” He let his head rest against the back of his chair.

“If it was you, I’d be on my knees right now.” She chucked, that deep, throaty kind he’d grown to love. “Would you like that?”

“You know I would.” He’d dropped any pretense early on that he was anything but turned on by her. The honesty seemed to work for her. “Now, put me in you.”

She put one foot on something out of frame, opening her thighs toward the camera. It was hard to make out details, thanks to the low resolution and lack of light, but he could see that she’d shaved or maybe waxed recently. Her skin glistened with moisture. She held the base of the dildo with both hands and placed it at her entrance. The chair tipped back, and he could see some of her throat.

He wanted to see her. All of her. But that went against the rules of their relationship.

“You’d be warmer. Harder.” She panted and shifted her hips.

“I thought about putting warming coils in, but I couldn’t figure out a way to keep the silicone from melting.”

“God, it’s sexy when you talk robotics to me.”

“Shut up and put me in you already.”

“Oh, we’re being bossy. I like it when you’re bossy.”

She arched her back, lifted her hips off the chair, and pressed the dildo into herself. He remained perfectly still while she pumped it, slow and steady, working the toy deeper. When she had most of its length inside of her, he slowly curled his fingers.

“Oh!” She let go with one hand and—he could only guess that she covered her mouth. The moans were muted, quieter than normal, but her hips shifted.

He continued to work the controller, as though he were finger fucking her. Seeing her was better than blindly imagining what she was doing. These private, intimate glimpses of her body and her pleasure were gifts. Ones he’d cherish.

Stephen stroked his cock absently, more attuned to the way her ribs lifted, the undulation of her hips. Every little shift of her body. And he hadn’t even broken out the best part yet.

“Am I all the way in?” he asked.

“Yes, God yes. I can
feel
you move. Oh—my God, fuck yes.”

“Stay—right there.”

He pressed his thumb to the pressure pad, moving it in a circle.

She sucked in a breath and the keening cry was music to his ears.

He pumped his fingers, curling them and concentrated on his thumb. Her back bowed, and he got a glimpse of her chin. Her knees shook, and her body seemed to vibrate with orgasm.

Her moan stretched on and on. He counted to sixty before slowing his pace. She slumped in the chair, one corner of her mouth visible now. It hitched up in the cutest little smile. She’d be mischievous, a total imp, and he’d love it. If they ever met.

“Professor, I believe you’ve broken me,” she said, her words a little slurred.

“Not even a little bit.”

She pressed her hands over the base of the dildo and straightened, the forbidden glimpse of her face gone.

“I didn’t get to see you come,” she said.

He glanced down. Shit. He hadn’t even noticed. He’d been too intent on her.

“Can you feel me at all?” she asked.

“I wish, but no.” He hadn’t worked out a good way to make the device two-way. In the end, her pleasure was more important than his.

“I wish you could feel as good as I do right now.”

“I’m glad I was able to assist.” Maybe she’d never tell him what was wrong, but at least he could take her mind off her problems for a few moments.

An orgasm should relax him, but after the show she’d put on, he was more tense. Frustrated. Wanting. He hated to admit it, but these taboo sessions weren’t doing it for him anymore. Not like they used to.

“We could…meet,” he said. He waited for the pang of anxiety, the sense of impending rejection to stab him, but it didn’t happen. At least not yet. He was willing to take a chance on her. Was she? “You said you travel a lot. You were just in L.A.”

She pulled the dildo out of her pussy and set it down off-camera. She didn’t cover herself, but there was a stiffness where a moment ago she’d been languid. Relaxed.

“I…thought we agreed—”

“You’re right.” Ah, rejection, his old friend. “Sorry, it was just a thought. I know the rules.”

“That’s—I’m not saying I don’t want to meet you. I just… I like you. A lot. I just…”

“Don’t worry about it. Seriously.”

“There’s a lot going on right now. It’s…not a good time.”

“I know.”

Pam wasn’t her real name. It wasn’t even her screen name, but in the throes of passion, he wasn’t going to call out a random string of letters and digits. He was pretty sure he’d figured out which girl she was in the picture. These days it was hard to stay completely anonymous on the Internet, and after hours of talking with her he knew details. Things a random observer wouldn’t know. A little bit of reverse image searching on each girl’s face had produced a list of names. All of them enigmatic, intelligent women who just happened to be dressed in identical Wonder Woman costumes at some sort of event.
