Her heart throbbed in her chest, but she looked him right in the eye and whispered on a happy sigh, “I love you, too, Cormac. Let’s put the hurt on this life mate thing.”

Cormac’s lips pressed against hers, his tongue slipping into her mouth, sending a thrill of yearning to her heart. “So you know what this means, right?”

“Does this mean I have to lose my virginity to you after we get drunk on spiked punch?”

“Don’t you have to still have that to lose it?” he teased against her mouth.

“So fresh, Vitali. Knock it off or I won’t let you get to second base.”

“Which brings me to this—I don’t know about you, but I was wondering if it might be time to, you know, consider sealing the deal?” He winked comically at her.

“Seal a deal? Whatever do you mean, Mr. Vitali?” she joked, knowing exactly what he meant.

They’d chosen to wait to make love. There had been many grueling nights when they’d almost caved due to their raging hormones, but they wanted the time to be right. For the physical expression of their relationship to mean something.

For love and total commitment to be their motivation.

Curving his arm around her waist, Cormac hauled her closer, letting her feel what he meant. “You know exactly what I mean. Don’t torture me. Either you’re in or you’re out.”

“Isn’t this the part of my teen dream where I crash to reality when I remember guys say whatever they have to in order to get in your pants?” she asked, running her fingers over his arms and luxuriating in his muscles.

He ran his lips over her neck, making her shiver with anticipation. “You don’t have pants on. And I’m crushed. Do you really think I would say ‘I love you’ to just get you into bed? Have you no soul?”

Her head fell back on her shoulders as she laughed. “That’s what I wanted to hear. Tonight could just be your lucky night.”

He growled playfully at her, swirling her around the dance floor as everyone joined them. Music played, the girls and their husbands danced, and Vadim and Viktor did the limbo. Carl asked one of her staff members to dance; Darnell did the outdated but hysterical robot. Toni and her fiancé Prince Iver ruled the chicken dance, and Arch did an amazing twist, outlasting every one of them on the floor.

It was a night full of magic, full of promise, full of all the people and animals she loved most.

Several hours and some weenies in a blanket later, back at Cormac’s apartment, he pulled her into his bedroom, where he’d lit dozens of candles and had a bottle of wine chilling in a bucket.

The room, swathed in a soft, flickering glow, was enchanting, leaving her breathless at the care he’d taken to make tonight perfect. He’d made up his big bed with soft pillows and a thick comforter and placed a pink, fuzzy bathrobe on the chair in the corner.

“As if you hadn’t already outdone yourself,” she whispered, tears forming at the corners of her eyes.

Cormac popped the cork on the wine and poured her a glass, handing it to her with a hot kiss that made her toes curl.

Teddy reached up and loosened his bowtie as she took a sip, before she set it down and grabbed the lapels of his jacket, pushing it from his wide shoulders. Her hands ached to touch his flesh, experience him in his entirety, the way she’d fantasized each time he took his shirt off when he was working on a project at Sanctuary or when he wore a pair of jeans that made his already outstanding butt look even more outstanding.

With fingers she couldn’t believe were capable of unbuttoning his ruffled shirt, as shaky as they were, Teddy swiftly worked her way down the length of it until her hands were smoothing over his chest, palming his hot flesh.

He groaned, gripping her wrists and slinging them around his neck as he pulled her close and unzipped her dress.

She stepped out of it, left with nothing but her heels and a pair of pale pink panties; she tried not to shy away from his deep gaze.

Cormac groaned his appreciation, his eyes darkening, devouring her as he unbuckled his belt and kicked off his blue trousers, leaving him in only his black boxer-briefs.

He was as beautiful as she’d imagined; all thick ripples of muscle, tight abs, and that delicious carved-out hipbone she wanted to run her tongue over.

His legs were thick and lightly sprinkled with crisp dark hair, bulging thighs that tapered to well-muscled calves. He took a step toward her just as she did the same and their skin touched for the first time.

Teddy hissed her pleasure, clutching at Cormac’s shoulders just as he moaned against her mouth, kissing her deeply, driving his tongue against her, rasping the silky instrument along the outline of her mouth.

Hands explored flesh, skimming, discovering, relishing the freedom their fingers were finally allowed.

Cormac’s index fingers slipped inside the leg of her panties on both sides, whispering over her skin, teasing her until her back arched and he pulled her to the bed.

Setting her on the soft comforter, he gazed down at her, pulling his boxer-briefs off then removing her panties.

He hissed appreciatively again when she was in nothing but her heels, falling to his knees on the bed to part her thighs and settle between them. Teddy’s hands went to his thick hair, clutching strands of it and bucking when his breath grazed her most sensitive flesh, sighing as his beard scratched over her legs.

His kiss was slow, gentle, his chest rumbling on an approving groan when his tongue flicked out to taste her, making Teddy clench her eyes shut in anticipation for what was to come. Cormac took his time, parting her flesh in slow increments, stroking, licking, pulling her closer to his mouth until he slid his hands beneath her ass and she was flush against his tongue.

Her legs rose of their own accord, wrapping around his shoulders, her back arching into his delicious thrusts. When he slipped his finger inside her, Teddy saw stars, flashes of color behind her eyelids before she whimpered her pleasure, bucking against him.

White-hot heat pooled in her belly, snaking upward, making her nipples tighten until she exploded. She rode the crest of her orgasm, fighting the urge to scream her delight, gripping the comforter on either side of her as she came.

The sweet torture was like a tidal wave of pleasure, lifting her up then dragging her under, leaving her boneless and weak.

Cormac kneaded her thighs, massaging the muscles to ease the tension until she felt like a puddle of melted butter, but her hands itched to touch him, to experience the most intimate parts of his body.

Tugging on his wide shoulders, she dragged him upward, his chest scraping her tight nipples, his abs pressing into the soft flesh of her belly. When his mouth took hers again, the urge to order him to make love to her was strong, but she resisted in favor of slowing down and making this first time together last.

Rolling him to his back, she pinned him with a thigh around his legs, pulling his head close for another kiss, running her hands over his sleek lines until she reached his cock. Long and hard, he pulsed against her fingertips when she let them skim the hot flesh.

Cormac cupped her breast, running his thumb over her nipple, tweaking it, sending shooting waves of heat to her core, renewing her lust, stoking the embers of her desire.

Her pulse raced as she tried to slow this aching need, this agonizing want to have him inside her. Bracing her hands on his chest, Teddy slithered down along his body, sighing at the skin-to-skin contact, until she was at his hip, pulling at him and encouraging him to roll toward her.

She wasted no time in enveloping his cock between her hands, her fingers grasping him firmly, twisting upward and back down along the length again. He writhed against her when she sipped at his silken flesh, kissing him, licking, before she took him into her mouth.

Cormac tensed, his body rigid from the moment the heat of her lips surrounded him, and then he moaned, long and low, muttering something unintelligible.

He dragged his hand through her hair, pulling her close when she cupped his testicles, gently kneading them, running her tongue over his cock until his hips rolled against her, pushing, driving, thrusting.

No more
,” he panted, husky and deep, pulling his hips back from her, gripping her shoulders.

Teddy wrapped her arms around his shoulders and hauled herself up along his body, pinning him to the bed, capturing his mouth as she straddled him.

As she looked down at him, this man she’d fallen so deeply in love with, her chest tightened when he caught her watching him. He let his fingers walk along her arm and up toward her mouth. Pressing them to her lips, he said, “I love you.”

She caught his hand in hers, cupping it against her cheek, and closed her eyes, inhaling the scent that was all Cormac. “
I love you, too, Cormac
.”

His moan of urgency made her lift her hips, allowing him the space to move beneath her and settle at her entrance.

This was the moment she’d waited four months for. The moment when they’d become one. Holding her breath, Teddy leaned back, snapping a picture in her mind of their flesh, his darker, hers lighter, preparing to connect.

Cormac’s first thrust upward made her gasp, stretched her, making her brace the heels of her hands on his chest as she adjusted.

That moment, that magically sweet moment when they connected, was sheer bliss. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head, her body swaying in his arms, which had come up around her to keep her from pitching backward.

Strong and sure, she gripped his forearms and raised her hips, thrusting downward on his cock, whimpering at how completely he filled her.

And then they found their rhythm, the special place where two people who connect meet and find completion.

Cormac felt it, too. She knew he did when his eyes opened wide and filled with surprise, before they became heavy with desire and he lifted his head to capture one of her nipples, rolling his tongue over the beaded bud.

Wrapping her arms around his head, Teddy cradled him close as their flesh met and pulled away, their chests rose and fell, their breathing became raspy.

That rush of heat assaulted her again, threading along her veins, pulsing in ripples of need until she knew she couldn’t hold on much longer.

Cormac’s last thrust, slick and white-hot, drove her to the brink, the pleasure so intense, she cried out and gripped his shoulders. “Cormac!”

The world titled, tipped, crashed around her. The pounding of her pulse in her ears drowned out everything else. Everything but Cormac and the steady beat of his heart and his moans of pleasure as he, too, found release.

As the last vestiges of her climax subsided, Teddy clung to him, tears stinging her eyes. One managed to escape and roll down her cheek, plopping against his face.

He brought his hands up to her face, bracketing it with his wide palms, wiping her cheek with his thumb with a smile before cradling her in his arms.

As Cormac pulled her tight, he gave her a light nudge. “Well, I think we consummated the life mate thing all right and proper, don’t you?

She giggled against his chest and rolled her eyes. “Oh, indeed. Totally worth the grueling four-month wait.”

Rolling her to her back, Cormac gazed down at her and grinned. “Whaddya say we make up for lost time?”

Tweaking his beard, Teddy grinned back. “Wow. Again? You’re quite the stud, Vitali.”

“You’ve been driving me crazy for months, Gribanov,” he murmured against her lips, slipping his arms under her waist.

She pressed her fingers to his lips to keep him at bay for just a moment longer. “Wait. Seriously. Tonight was everything a prom could be and more. Have I said thank you for making me feel like I’m the most important person in the world?”

Kissing her fingertips, Cormac smiled. “You
are
the most important person in my world. Well, you and Nee-Nee the giraffe. I’m just telling you right now, if anyone can give you a run for your money, it’s gonna be her. Have you seen the way she bats her eyelashes at me? Crushes me. She’s damn well irresistible.”

Nee-Nee, the one-eyed giraffe, adored Cormac. When she saw him from an acre away, she came running. “Am I gonna have to take a bitch down with my dart gun?” she teased, kissing the corner of his mouth.

He mock-shivered, his eyes gleaming. “Oooo, I like it when you get all
Raiders of The Lost Ark
on me. It’s hot.”

“There were no dart guns in
Raiders of The Lost Ark
. And just you remember who you belong to, buddy.”

“Oh, trust me, I’m not ever going to forget the woman who threw me over her shoulder after knocking me out, then rather than ask if I had anything to say about it,
told
me I was her life mate. Not ever. I’ve been properly owned.”

“Owned forever?” she asked, snuggling under him, more incredibly happy than she’d ever been.

Forever
, or at least until you retire that damn dart gun.” He laughed at his own joke.

And then she couldn’t help but laugh, too.

But the best part was when they laughed together—in the way only two people who were true life mates do.

The End
