His eyes were full of concern when he asked, “Do you
want to leave? We can take our food to go.”

“No.” She shook her head. “No, let me— I’ll just
step into the ladies’ room and splash some water on my face.” Glancing over,
she noticed Reno hadn’t taken his eyes off her. She cupped Jarvis’s cheek.
“I’ll be right back.” She pushed her chair back and stood, noting the way Reno
followed her every move. He could say he’d moved on all he wanted, but his
actions spoke so much louder, didn’t they?

She had to walk by their table to get to the
bathroom, and she took her time. She wasn’t above showing him all he was
missing. She finally got to the bathroom, making her way inside as the door
banged shut behind her. At the sink, she bent and splashed water on her face.
Damn the man for making her feel and act like a schoolgirl all over again.

She was better than that, so much better. She’d been
getting along fine without him.
A year.
One full year
without him, and she’d managed, hadn’t she? So why now was she losing her
marbles?

The door opened behind her, but she didn’t look up
from drying her hands.

“You’re with him?”

She froze. Reno’s voice curled her toes and brought
goose-bumps to her skin.

Damn.

Indy spun around.
“Reno, how
lovely to see you again.”

The fury in his eyes, she hadn’t seen anything like
it. Hands fisted at his sides, he snarled, “Answer the question!”

She shook her head. “What does it matter who I’m
with, Reno? You’re already spoken for. You’ve got Jenna.” She whispered the
name.
“Heard you two were making plans for a life together.”

“How fucking dare you?
You
pushed me away.
You
let
me go.” His face was red, chest heaving. “You don’t get to blame me for your
decisions.”

No, she didn’t. “I’m not blaming you.” She sighed.
“I’m just saying
,
you’ve made your choice.”

He took a step toward her. “You did the same, with
that guy?” he asked. “You’re fucking him?”

“Reno.”

“Answer the question!” He took another step.

She backed up, into the edge of the sink. “Are you
fucking her?”

He lunged for her, grabbing her by the throat. Indy
gasped. Images flashed, of her, of them.
That particular hold.
He panted, pressed up against her, his breath hitting her in the face. She
stared at him, into his eyes and found his pupils dilated. The hard length of
him poked at her midsection. He remembered as well.

“Answer the question, Indy.” He squeezed her throat.
“Is he giving you all that I gave you? Are you fucking him like you fucked me?”

She bit her lip to stifle the sounds, the whimpers,
and his gaze hardened. Shifting slightly, he thrust a hand under the hem of her
dress, between her legs, and cupped her sex.

“Answer me.” He held her gaze. “Tell me no.” When
she refused to speak, he pushed two fingers inside her.

Her legs buckled and she would’ve screamed, but he
chose that moment to release her neck and thrust four fingers of that hand into
her mouth. She gagged, and he slammed into her pussy, his fingers thick,
painful, and so fucking good inside her.

Sound gurgled in her throat. They locked eyes, no
one looking away as he finger-fucked her with hard strokes, working her cunt
like he owned it.

Ung
.
Ung
.”
Fuck, Reno wasn’t easing up. He held her immobile, fingers punishing as he
thrusting into her over and over. Her body quaked, moisture spilled down her
thighs, and he inhaled.

“I can fucking
smell you,” he snarled. “Shall I tell you what you smell like, Indy? Or how
about how tight you are?” He licked her neck. “No one’s been where I’ve been. I
know it, and you know it.” His thumb zeroed in on her clit and pressed down
hard.

A scream formed in her throat. The fingers in her
mouth stifled it and obstructed her breathing. She couldn’t think. Reno was
touching her. Once again, his hands were on her body, and like all the other
times before, she was coming out of her skin from pleasure. His fingers sank
deep, scraped her g-spot, then twisted and retreated. She whimpered, pleading
with her eyes. She tried to spread her thighs wider, get him to go deeper, but
he was having none of it. He tunneled into her while his thumb worked her clit,
and she clung to him like a drowning victim. Time and place fell away, and they
were them, Reno and Indy, loving on each other like they’d always done.
As if she hadn’t fucked up, hadn’t sent him away to get caught in
another woman’s web.
Her eyes burned. The tears fell, and the fingers
inside her twisted. The nail of his thumb scraped her clit, and she fell into
the orgasm, clutching the front of his shirt, crying openly.

He held her. The fingers in her mouth disappeared,
going to her nape. Indy took a breath. Her limbs shook, her pussy contracting around
his retreating fingers, and she smelled him.
The familiar
Reno scent, nothing exotic, only Irish Spring and hot skin, but it was his.
His scent, so she loved it.

Like she loved him.

She jerked away.

“Jesus Christ!” She pushed him and clutched the edge
of the sink for support. “Damn it, Reno.”

“Don’t say it’s a mistake.”

“Of course it’s a mistake.” She turned away from
him, staring at her sweaty face in the mirror. Goddamn, one look at her and
Jarvis would know she’d been finger-fucked to orgasm in the bathroom. She wet
her fingers and teased at her hair.

“You didn’t answer my question,” Reno said.

She barked a laugh. “Did you expect me to?” She
faced him. “Jesus, Reno. You bring her here, to where I am.
Where
we
are.”
She motioned between
them. “What did you expect?”

“I expect the truth,” he said softly. “I expect for
once you’ll stop hiding from me, stop pushing me away, and admit you missed me,
that you didn’t want me to go.” He closed his eyes briefly then opened them. “I
expect you to say you’re glad I’m back and you love me now, like you loved me
then.”

She stared at him, into his sad eyes, and her chest
hurt. “I could say all that, yes.”

“Would it be the truth?”

“Reno.” She moved into his space and cupped his
cheek. “You obviously care for that girl waiting patiently for you out there.
You brought her home to meet the parents.” Something she’d never done despite
all the times he’d begged. “You’re planning to go with her to New York.” She
smiled when his eyes widened. “Yes, I know all about that, and I’m telling you,
it doesn’t matter what I do or don’t feel. Jenna is here.” She tugged on her
skirt. “Ask me again when she’s not in the picture.”

Checking one last time to make sure she looked
halfway decent, she walked out the bathroom and headed to face Jarvis.

Chapter Four

He didn’t want to wash his hands. Reno imagined even
after four hours he could still smell Indy’s hot, wet pussy on his fingers. His
cock remained hard and aching. The sounds she made, so familiar, still rang in
his head.
The way she clutched him, her hands and her cunt,
like she hadn’t been touched in forever.

He’d lost his mind for a minute there. He could
freely admit that. Watching her touch and be touched by the guy she was with,
that angered him until he couldn’t see straight.

On the pull-out sofa bed in his father’s office,
flat on his back, Reno couldn’t sleep. He kept replaying Indy’s words in his
head. She thought he was with Jenna, and he hadn’t corrected her, but he would.
If that was the only thing stopping Indy from making that move with him, he’d
deal with it.

He still loved Indy, still loved the sounds she made
when she came. He still got weak at the feel of her body clasping him so
fucking tight. He still wanted to stare into her eyes as he slid into her,
watch her pupils dilate and her body move.

He still craved the feel of her. And damn if he
didn’t almost cream himself when she spoke his name. After all this time, after
where he’d been and all he’d done, he found himself right back here, thinking
of ways to convince Indy to be with him.

His lashes fell. Images of Indy and that guy would
not go away. He gritted his teeth. He had to do something else. There’d be no
sleeping tonight. Rolling off the bed, he picked up his phone from where he’d
placed it on the floor. In the darkness, he grabbed his jeans and tiptoed out
the room. He pulled on the jeans in the hallway then made his way downstairs.
The house was quiet, his parents already in bed. They were heavy sleepers, so
he’d be okay. He didn’t worry about Jenna waking up. He went outside and made
his way to his car where he unlocked the vehicle and climbed, gently closing
the door behind him. He sat, hands on the steering wheel, phone on his lap, and
contemplated driving over to Indy’s place. She didn’t live all that far away.

But what was he really thinking? Had he lost his
mind? She’d been on a date, with a man who had his hands all over her. Wishful
thinking had him imagining how tight Indy had been to his touch; wishful
thinking had him imagining she’d go an entire year without anyone in her bed. Indy
was the most sexually adventurous person he’d ever met in his life. There
wasn’t a time when she wasn’t indulging in some dirty and spine-tingling
fantasy. He’d been spoiled by the vigor in which she’d lavished her attentions
on him. She’d held nothing back, and he’d done the same.

Until she’d ended it.

Now he had to watch her with somebody else. He’d
seriously thought he was strong enough to see her. He’d thought Jenna being
with him would lessen the impact of locking eyes with Indy. What he’d done instead
was underestimate how much she’d imprinted herself on him.

With a snarled curse, he snatched the phone and
dialed her number. He actually heard his breaths as his heart beat faster and
faster with each ring. Depressing the lever to force the driver’s seat back,
Reno put a hand over his head and waited.

“Yes.”
Her voice, low and husky
and seductive.

Reno inhaled. “Is he with you?”

“Reno.” She sighed. “How does that concern you?”

“Did you take him home with you?” Reno’s voice rose.
Shook.
“Did you let him strip you, touch you, fuck
you? I’m not going to ask again.” The anger in his chest was a tight knot. He could
barely breathe through it.

Silence greeted him. He fought panic and waited.

“You brought her home. I’m betting you stripped her,
touched her, fucked her,” Indy said evenly. “What should I ask you? What should
I demand of you, Reno?”

He gritted his teeth and pinched the bridge of his
nose. “Where is he, Indy?”

“Somewhere,” she said reluctantly. “Not here.”

“Did you—”

“No, I did not!” she yelled. “Happy? Are you happy,
Reno?”

“Indy…”

“Where is she? Where’s your woman?”

Reno glanced over at the dark house and blew out a
breath. “She’s not my woman, and she’s inside, asleep.”

She made a sound, as if she didn’t believe a word he
spoke. “Where are you?”

“My car.
In the driveway.”

He heard her swallow. “Why?”

“Was
gonna
drive over to
your place.
Pound on the door.”

They lapsed into silence, and this time Reno didn’t
worry she’d hang up in his ear. He listened to her breathe, a stolen moment he
wanted to keep always.

“What do you want from me, Reno?”

What did he want? Reno had to allow a stiff smile at
that. He wanted so many things, too innumerable to mention. “I want back in
your bed. I want you to make me feel like you used to. To own me like you once
did. I want you to want to.”

Indy’s breath shuddered in his ear. “You
conveniently forget the woman already filling your bed. I’m not about to be
that person. I’m not about to step in where there’s no space for me.”

“Indy.” Reno groaned. “Don’t you fucking get it?
I’ll always be yours, and you’ll always be the one.” He took his time speaking
the words so she’d really hear him, and she’d understand. “I don’t—what I feel
for you,
it’s
untouchable. Unshakeable, despite the number
of times you tried otherwise.”

She remained quiet, and he pushed further.

“I miss you. Three hundred and seventy five days.”

“What?”

“That’s how long we’ve been apart,” Reno said
softly. “That’s how long it’s been since I touched your brown skin, since you
kissed me on the back of my neck.”

“Don’t.”

“Do you remember the last time we made love?” he
asked. “You didn’t consider it making love, did you? Because if you did, you’d
have to admit you feel something other than lust for me.”
