There has been such a great consumer backlash against PVC in kids’ products—and manufacturers are listening! These brands have pledged to remove PVC and phthalates and many are already phthalate free (although it’s always a good idea to double-check).

JENNI KAYNE
I love her West Hollywood boutique, where I can always find fabulously chic day pieces, modern and unique staples, and the best collection of accessories—I practically live in the D’Orsay flats from her store.
MERCI
One of my favorite Parisian shops—located in an airy loft where you move from room to room (filled with cozy reading nooks and a tea lounge), browsing among haute vintage fashions and furniture or one-of-a-kind creations by young French designers. All profits go to a children’s charity in Madagascar.
OPENING CEREMONY
This West Hollywood concept store is in Charlie Chaplin’s former dance studio, and every brand has its own shop-in-the-store.
SATINE
Owner Jeannie Lee’s private label collection is amazing because it’s a fashionable, modern twist on classics—like the perfect little black dress or the best oversize T-shirt. And everything is limited edition so you don’t have to worry about every girl on the block stealing your style.
SERENDIPITY
The most beautiful, inspired children’s store in France. I love how they’ll juxtapose graffiti art with say, handmade birdhouses—or use all-natural linens but dye them fluorescent colors.
WUHAO
I discovered this boutique on a trip to Beijing—it’s in the home of the last emperor’s wife—think very traditional Chinese architecture and fitted tiny rooms, with gorgeous clothing and home and children’s goods.
