“Of course.”

Chelsea began to walk to their daytime quarters with Crosley as Hadiya and Shawn stood up to leave for the trap door in the roof of the semi.  She crossed her arms and watched them.  Her brother came over and after a passionate kiss, walked Iolana to the semi’s ladder as well.  Tom came over to his sister.

“We are going to get married.”

“If that makes my brother happy then I am happy.”

He hugged his sister.

“I am going to turn in.”

“Alright but tomorrow night we have to talk.”

“What about?”

“Werewolf problems in Kentucky.”

Tom had been briefed.

“I will see you the second I wake up.  Good night Sis.”

“Good night Tom.”

About ten minutes later the sun’s ball of light began to rise and Crosley came back with the phone.

“She told me to tell you that they will talk again tonight.  There wasn’t enough time for them to finish and a fax will be coming it as well.”

“Alright…  I will call her over to continue the call the second she is up and about.”

“Goodnight Doctor.”

“Goodnight Mr. Crosley.”

Chapter 50 The Negotiations

Chelsea was on the phone the second the sun fell in the west.  She looked over at the Sargent Major and some of his men stacking firewood a safe distance away from the fire pit.  Hadiya saw the shadows first.  With a burst of speed she was next to the Sargent Major.

“Do not allow your men to interfere.  These are friends.”

They froze and did not move. Chelsea looked in the direction of the Merat Cave entrance.  Walking over to the campfire was five of the large male Bigfoots.  Four of them carried large sacks and the fifth one Chelsea recognized as the senior member from his streaked hair.  Khu walked behind them.  The four set the sacks down with a certain amount of reverence, and turned to walk away. The sentries on duty at first pointed their guns but then because of hand signals from the Sargent Major, they lowered their weapons.  Chelsea was about to hang up the phone call when the voice at the other end sensed the situation.

“We will talk more later dear… Goodbye.”

“Yes Goodbye.”

Khu and the elder Bigfoot were met by Tom.

“We are ready for the meeting now.  We will need you, the four vampires, Jerrick, Crosley, Elizabeth and Nathan.”

“Yes of course.  May I ask about the four large sacks?”

“They are the remains of the four men that died.  His people tried to make each as complete as possible given the violent nature of their deaths.  This has saddened Mycon’s people as well as him.”

The Sargent Major’s men came over and placed the four sacks into body bags as the others stood around and elder Bigfoot said something to Khu.

“He does not know your customs for this situation.”

Tom and the others bowed down and everyone joined in saying a prayer for those no longer with the team. The Sargent Major’s men also joined in the final rites of their fallen comrades.  At the completion all were silent until the four bodies were loaded on a truck and it pulled away driven by Platt and Berdy for the journey back to the capital.

Following Khu’s lead, the Bigfoot sat down next to Khu around the campfire.  One of the military men looked at another.

“Blimey… He is as tall as you sitting down.”

Nathan sat down with his notes and his laptop.

“Khu, given the distances you measured with the wheel, it would work out to be an area of just over ten acres.”

Khu nodded.

“Mycon will instruct his people to deliver twenty-four baby females and twenty-four baby male Bunyips to you.  These must be bottle fed. I will give you their formula after this meeting.”

“That is good.”

“In return you will give them enough wheat and corn seed to plant all ten acres in one of their other valleys.  This will help them to keep both those seed items from also becoming extinct on the surface as well.”

“I was not aware of any blithe threatening the wheat and corn crops of the world.”

“It is not a disease to the crops they fear but man.”

“I don’t understand.”

“They fear man’s attempts to redesign the crops by genetically altering those two sources of foods.  The seeds you will deliver to them will be one hundred percent natural, no hybrids.”

“I understand.”

Khu indicated that the reason for Bigfoot sightings throughout the world is Mycon and his people constantly monitor the surface lands to see how man manages the world’s resources and wildlife.  When they find a plant or animal threatened with extinction, they step in and transfer some of the remaining life forms below ground to one of their many valleys.  They can only hope that man will not destroy himself with his idea of what progress is… In any case, the Meeratts would be able to help rebuild a world destroyed by humans.

Nathan continued to key in the numbers on his computer.

“To be clear they are requesting field corn and not sweet corn?

“Yes field corn.”

“Okay, the corn will work out to thirty thousand seeds per acre… Will they need any farm equipment for that?”

“No.”

“And the wheat then will come out to roughly one hundred and ten pounds per acre... Anything else?”

“No.  When it comes time for a discussion regarding other animals, anyone at this meeting with the ruby key can take the tunnel passage from Vancouver to here.  Cinnet will mark the path.  Jerrick and Iolana will travel from here to that exit to see where it comes out in that part of the world. Mycon would prefer that none of you use this entrance to insure that there are no further incidents with the Bunyips or any of the wild life with any of you.”

The meeting went on to discuss clearing the first valley so that Nathan and the others could gather the spores for the mushrooms and germinated seeds in the excrement of the Dodo.  When the meeting was over, Mycon stood and looked at the vampires of the group.  Khu translated his words.

“Because of your unselfish act helping Cinnet, any of you that may at some point wish to be cured of your curse will be welcomed among his people to use the ‘blue’ room.”

The group thanked their honored guest and the tall figure left still talking to Khu while the others looked on.

***

Crosley was reading Chelsea’s notes over her shoulder regarding werewolves.

Tom came back and sat down between her and his sister.  Chelsea looked up at Tom.

“Are you sure you want to do this?”

“Yes.  This creature must be stopped.  What happened to me must not happen to another.”

“Creatures Tom, not creature...  Ms. Arachne Corrick is sure that you and those with you will be facing more than just one by now.”

“Okay, how do we kill them?”

“First you must treat all werewolves as ‘type four’ creatures.”

“You will have to explain to us these types.”

Chelsea looked down at her notes.

“A Type one… is a victim who turns into a werewolf because of a curse or spell put on that person.  Type one werewolves only transform during the full moon cycle.  They can be killed by a silver bullet causing any fatal wound to the body.  They are the easiest to kill.  It would be like killing a normal human.”

“Go on.”

“A Type two… is a victim who turns into a werewolf because of the fact he was bitten but the bite did not cause him to die.  Like you, the wound mysteriously heals quickly.  That person will change at the next full moon cycle.”

“So when I cut myself with the cranial saw and became infected by the blood of another on that saw, I was a type two?”

“Yes but to kill you by shooting you through the heart with a silver bullet wouldn’t have worked unless…”

“Unless?”

“Unless the silver bullet was blessed...  Any silver object finding its way to your heart would have killed you and put you into eternal rest only if that object was blessed.  Otherwise, in a relatively short period of time your body would regenerate and you would continue to kill.”

“I see…”

“Type three…is  one who turns into a werewolf during the full moon cycle and was actually killed from the bite of another werewolf.  This type of werewolf cannot be killed by a silver object because it was already dead once.  In order to kill a type three werewolf, its heart must be cut out of its body or the head severed at the neck.”

“And you said if we go to hunt and kill these creatures in Kentucky, we must treat them as a ‘type four?”

“Yes.  A type four werewolf is the hardest to kill.  This is a person who became a werewolf by birth.  Either one or both of its parents are werewolves.  He is different in several ways.  He can turn into or out of a werewolf at any time day or night.  The full moon cycles only tend to increase his anger and urge to kill.  Some can control this killing urge and live among us unknown.  According to Arachne that is very rare.   This creature is always very strong and can transform in a matter of seconds.  They can also heal from a near miss wound in a matter of seconds as well.”

“So how do we kill them?”

“You must either cut out the heart or remove its head.  Then you will have only a few minutes to destroy the heart or the brain by fire.  If you fail to totally destroy the heart or brain, it will reform back on or in the body and he will live again.”

“So exactly what kind of weapons do we carry to kill a werewolf in a type four fashion?”

“Ms. Arachne sent me pictures of various weapons used in the past.”

Chelsea passed a set of drawings to Tom and his sister and Nathan looked over his shoulder at the weapon designs.  Elizabeth looked at Chelsea.

“So how do we hunt them and find them?”

Chelsea did not respond as several of the military men came over to the campfire.

“Let’s continue this discussion in your command tent.”

Chapter 51 The Departure

Jerrick and Cinnet returned to the camp with Khu in the early morning hours.  The meeting in the command tent was still going on.

Chelsea looked up from her notes and saw Cinnet and Khu just outside the tent.  She excused herself and walked out to talk to the pair.

“Khu, can you ask Cinnet if there is a way to come out of the passages so that we would be closer to Kentucky?”

Khu and Cinnet exchanged words for several minutes.  Chelsea was beginning to wonder if the large young Bigfoot even knew what the word ‘Kentucky’ meant.  Elizabeth was finally called on to show the creature pictures of the Kentucky landscape on a laptop.  None of the pictures registered until the pictures of the Blue Ridge Mountains started to appear.
