She moaned against him as he lifted her and strolled to their room.
Chapter 8
Twenty-one, yay
, Ava thought as she stretched against Logan’s warm, muscled body. She smiled up at him as he lazily drew on her back.
“Happy birthday, sweetheart. What do you want to do to celebrate?” He rubbed his erection against her and pulled her up to meet his mouth for a kiss.
Ava straddled him and looked down into his lust filled eyes, rubbing her hands up his chest. “Oh, just what I wanted for my birthday, a big c—”
Ava’s sister came bursting into their room. “We’re twenty-one. Ya…” Eve trailed off as she spotted Logan. “Oh, this is too funny. Mum and Dad weren’t bullshitting me when they said you’d mated a human.”
Ava glanced at Logan to see his reaction to her sister. His eyebrows were furrowed and his lips turned down at the corner. She looked back at Eve who had a wicked grin on her face.
“Gonna introduce me, sis?”
“No. Get out.”
Logan sat up and Eve’s eyes honed in on his naked chest.
“Well, well, sis, what a nice looking human if I do say so myself. I can’t wait for you to tell me where you met him.”
Logan chuckled and pressed a kiss to Ava’s lips. “I knew you had a sister, but I didn’t know you were identical twins.”
Eve strolled to the bed with a wicked grin on her face. “Let me introduce myself.” She held her hand out to Logan. “I’m Eve, the fun one, better looking, and all-round kickass girl of the Wolfen clan.”
Ava gave a huff. “Ha, more like the crazy one.”
Logan reached out and shook Eve’s hand. “Nice to meet you. I’m Logan Brown.”
Eve held Logan’s hand longer than Ava thought was necessary, and Eve laughed when Logan said his name. “So it’s true, you’re Kirby’s asshole brother.”
Ava cleared her throat loudly, and told Eve, “Give us five minutes. Go put the kettle on.”
“Arh, sis, I’d want a lot more than five minutes if I was you.” Eve winked at Logan.
Ava snarled as Eve walked out of her room and slammed the door, giggling the whole time.
Chuckling, Logan lifted her out of bed. Together they walked to the bathroom. “Looks like I’ll be giving you your gift later tonight.” Ava groaned as he kissed her neck and nibbled on her ears.
“Mmm I can’t wait.” Ava didn’t care what the present was. She wanted him to tell her he loved her, but she would settle for him telling his parents that she was his girlfriend. She just wanted something to show how he felt.

Ava glared at the club Eve had dragged them all to. Their car had broken down on the ride home and now they had to wait for someone to come and pick them up. Ava was pissed off at Eve. She’d known that Ava wanted to spend at least some of the night with Logan, but no, Eve had dragged all the girls out to party.
The pub had a real rustic look to it, with wooden tables and old metal signs scattered on the walls. Men in leather jackets and covered in tattoos sat at wooden tables watching the few women dancing on the dance floor to rock hard Slipknot that blasted out of large speakers.
Ava heard Kirby mutter under her breath, “You’ve got to be joking.” Kirby looked exhausted as she turned to Faith. “You see everything these days, how could you not ‘see’ us breaking down on our way back from clubbing?”
As they all walked further in the pub, most of the men turned to leer at them. Faith bit her bottom lip and glanced around them.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t see this. I saw something very different. I don’t like this.” Faith shivered and hugged herself. “Kane and the boys are on their way, but they’re a good forty-five minutes away.”
Eve smiled at everyone. “Come on, guys. This is an adventure.” Eve put her arm around Faith and grabbed her hand, but Ava wasn’t in the mood for one of her sister’s adventures.
“Look, let’s just get a seat, order some ginger ale, cokes, and wait for the boys to turn up.”
Eve glared at her but Ava didn’t care. “You have all become boring since mating.”
All eight of them sat in a corner both and ordered drinks. They just sat there in silence. Something didn’t feel right. All the human mates seemed to have serious faces, like they were concentrating, and they kept looking around. Ava glanced at Sandra who was doing the same as her, looking at Kirby, Faith, Lexie, Stacy, and Sara.
“Ava, something’s off,” Sandra muttered. Eve seemed to notice it as well when the drinks were placed in front of them and the humans didn’t move.
Kirby was rubbing her head. “It hurts, they’re all yelling.”
Sara groaned, “Where’s the water?”
Lexie scared Ava. “So much evil coming, stomping on the ground.”
Ava turned to see Sandra talking on her mobile. Just then Remy walked in and came straight over to them. Ava turned to Eve who muttered, “Surprise, Remy’s been talking to me, she’s ready to come home.”
Faith glared at Remy. “I can’t even look at you right now. What Ava and I have had to do the last couple of months…” Faith shook her head. “Arden looks barely alive.” Faith turned her back on her best friend Remy.
Remy turned to her and Ava couldn’t hold back the growl, she was so angry at Remy for what she’d done to Arden. “Don’t even look at me.” Ava looked around at the other girls who all seemed to be in their own world. Ava turned back to Faith and swore at the expression on her face. “She’s having a vision.” Ava waved her hands in front of Faith’s face. “Fuck, she’s not coming out of it, and we’re in a public place.”
Ava was too entranced in Faith to notice that some of the men had come over. One touched her hand. “Hey, sexy. Want to come home with me?”
Ava turned to see a stocky man with long hair tied in a ponytail, a bandana on his head, and covered in tats from head to toes. Eve grinned at her and nodded in Faith’s direction, silently telling her she’d handle the men and Ava should look after Faith. Eve turned to the men and muttered, “Oh sorry, I don’t do humans.”
Ava couldn’t help chuckling at the way her sister got the man’s attention. He frowned and cocked his head to the side. “What the hell do you mean? You one of those weird chicks who believe in aliens and stuff?”
Eve giggled and got up out of her seat. Winking at Ava, she mouthed
I’ll distract them
. She turned back to the men with a smile. “Humans can’t keep up with me. How about I show you what I mean?”
Eve linked arms with two of the guys, winking at them. As she walked away Faith came shooting up out of her vision. “We need to get out and hide now.” Faith stood up and started running to the door, Lexie close on her heels. They froze and ducked to hide when the pub’s doors opened and zombies and minions poured inside.
Ava thanked every god she could think of that she had gone to training and now carried the ice blades on her thanks to the last club incident. She reached down, grabbed the ones in her boots, and stood in front of the table protecting Sara, Stacy, and Kirby.
Ava felt Kirby lean on her to stand on the table so she could focus on the gray winged pig like creatures, the minions. She screamed at them to stop, and they froze for a moment, then started attacking the zombies.
The whole club started to shake as demons barged through the doors. Over twenty massive demons came in, and the humans shot at them, which caused the demons to grow and laugh with the extra energy.
Faith and Lexie started running back to their little group until they were cut off by the chaos around them. Sandra ran to help them. Ava focused on making sure the demons didn’t get to Kirby, Sara, Remy, and Stacy. Sara manipulated the beer and other beverages, shooting them at the demons’ chests. Remy threw fire at the demons and went to help Faith but Ava grabbed her and yelled, “No. You’re not going anywhere. Keep firing at the demons. I’ll help.”
Kirby screamed at Ava, “Get Faith and Lexie and come to the back exit with me. I have an idea.”
Minions flew above Ava. Four of them grabbed hold of Kirby, two on the arms, and two on her legs, lifting, and flying her into the air.
Ava ran to help Faith who was fighting in the middle of demons covered in blood. Faith was getting too pregnant to fight and kept taking hits to the head and legs. The demons seemed to avoid her belly, like they wanted her and the child alive and intact.
Ava yelled over the terrified screams around them to Faith. “You need to get to Kirby now. Swap positions with me, and get as many of the girls as you can to her. Run now, even if all you do is save yourself.”
Ava picked Faith up and threw her. She landed on a pile of bodies close to where Kirby was. A demon’s horn punctured through Ava’s back, and big, thorn covered arms came around her. Lexie screamed in front of her as demons grabbed her and stomped out the door.
Slipping from the demon’s embrace, Ava grunted as she pushed the horn out. Frantically, she jumped and stabbed her way through the mayhem trying to get to Lexie. Gunshots exploded around them as the bikers fired at the demonic creatures. Sirens could be heard coming closer, but Ava didn’t have time to hope they would slow the demons down. She needed to be faster to get to Lexie, so she fully changed in to a wolf. In this form she was more nimble and could easily get around and avoid the demons’ spiked tails and hands.
Coming upon the demon with Lexie in his arms outside the bar, Ava first bit his leg, then transformed from her wolf mode into her werewolf form. Hair covered her body and she grew an extra three feet, making her look a lot like the scary werewolves from the movies. But she was too late. Behind her the demons came out of the club dragging Sandra, who looked barely alive. Ava didn’t know who to help. She didn’t have a chance to help either woman as demon arms wrapped around her.
Ava tried to pull against her three captures, screaming and yelling until a demon covered her mouth and blocked her nose. Black started to surround her and she finally succumbed to it, falling into oblivion.

Ava woke in a large, dark, cold room, chained to the wall. She experimentally tried to break them until she heard Sandra’s raspy voice. “Don’t bother. Save your energy. I’ve been trying since I woke to break out of them.”
Ava’s vision adjusted to the dark, her wolf coming through to help her look around the large room. “Where’s Lexie? I can’t see her. Did they get anyone else? I tried to get everyone to Kirby.”
“We got all the humans, bar Lexie I think, to safety. At least I hope we did. I don’t know what happened to Eve, she was beside me and then a moment later I couldn’t see her. There were too many of them.” Tears slid down her face. “They’ve been very careful with us. Since arriving, none of the demons have given killing blows to us. Something’s not right some—”
A huge, twenty something foot demon came striding in, dragging a girl on a chain behind him. The girl looked up. Her eyes widened, and a small grin spread across her face.
The demon yanked the woman’s chain so she stood beside him. “Welcome, my new pets. I’d like you to meet the reason you’re here.” He kicked the girl forward. “I will leave you to get more aquatinted.” The demon paused and glared at them. “Just don’t kill her, or I will punish you like the dogs you are.” He stomped out of the room, leaving the boney girl standing in the middle of the room.
The girl sat on the floor. “I’m sorry, I had no choice.” Her voice turned to a whisper. “This is not the vision I saw though.” She nodded to Sandra. “Her or the human. They weren’t supposed to get caught. So they changed fate, and when that happens…” She grinned and bounced up and down. “If I don’t make it, tell Griffen that I’m very sorry and I was looking forward to meeting him.”
Ava stared at the girl who she could now see was a woman. “What’s your name?”
“Pet, my name’s Pet.”
Sandra sobbed, and Ava bit her lip and took a deep breath. “No. What was your name before they captured you?”
The woman cocked her head to the side. “I wasn’t captured. My mother was. They told me I killed her when she gave birth to me.”
“How do you know about my brother Griffen?”
A beautiful smile came over her face. “Oh, I see him all the time. He is one of the many paths I could go. I would like that. He’s…” She trailed off and went into a trancelike state the same as Faith did when she was having a vision.
Ava glanced at Sandra who looked at Pet with sympathy as she rubbed her tummy. Sandra hadn’t announced she was pregnant, but it wasn’t hard to tell—even in the state she was in, she glowed. “Is the baby okay?”
Sandra nodded, and together they moved closer to the woman, who suddenly shook herself and continued the conversation like nothing had just happened.
“Looks beautiful. I think that’s what it’s called. That’s what the man called you when they rescued you. He said you’re beautiful and he loved you. I’m going to love Griffen too. If everything goes right, let’s hope that’s the only future I see.” She started bouncing up and down. “Oh, I want to go to one of the girl weekends you all have.” The woman went on. “They’re going to come soon, because they’re going to move us so the werewolves can’t get us.”

Logan sat in the passenger seat of a Ferrari Enzo sports car that was reaching speeds of two hundred mph. Rane sat next to him, concentrating on the road. Another six Ferrari Enzos were speeding behind them in the convoy. A van with more werewolves was somewhere way behind them, but as soon as Rane, Tray, Duke, Griffen, Arden, Jamie, and Kane heard the women and their mates were being attacked by demons they’d jumped in cars.
Logan hadn’t seen Arden this alive in a while, but when Sandra said Remy was there, ready to come home, it was like he awoke from a bad dream. They didn’t wait for the vans, Rane grabbed him and his brother Hayden’s arm, and dragged them to a massive garage filled with expensive, fast cars—Lamborghinis, Subaru WRXs, Porsches. They quickly chose the fleet of Ferrari Enzos, every man’s dream car and the fastest of the lot.
Rane had pushed him in and said, “This will get us there quicker, and weapons are already in the boot.” He got in and speed off, six cars following behind him. “I hope you can handle motion sickness. I’ll take the fastest route there, even if that means going off-road.” He shrugged and put his foot down.
