“You're right. I never did any of that stuff. But I did have a lot of sex with a lot of different guys. And that variety brought something special and unique to my life.”
Kyle's eyes dropped, and Preston could see he'd hurt his boyfriend again.
“Don't get me wrong. I love you and sex with you is incredible. But after five years, it's beginning to get a little predictable and routine. I can't have predictable and routine in my life, and neither can you.”
“You're right. I can't. But for me it hasn't gotten there yet. For me, every time we fuck it's a new experience, and an exciting one.”
“God, you're incredible. Thank you for saying that. Especially for me, at my age.”
“Well, it's true.”
“The thing is, I didn't know I was feeling this way either, until last night. I mean, I guess I'd felt for the past few months that we were stuck in a little bit of a routine, but I didn't really think about it. But last night, when Christian showed me some attention ...”
“He did more than show you some attention.”
“I know. But don't get pissy, please. Just hear me through. Then yell at me all you want if you still want. But at least hear me out.”
Kyle took another drink of coffee and stared at Preston.
“When he came on to me and wanted me in that way, it made me feel alive. It made me feel hot and sexy and wanted.”
“And I don't make you feel those things?”
“Yes, you do. But it's you. I expect it from you. I haven't expected it from anyone else in a very long time. So when it happened, I lost control. I couldn't help myself. He wanted me.”
“And you wanted him,” Kyle said.
“Yes. I'm not going to lie. I did want him. I didn't want to love him or be with him for the rest of my life. But I wanted him sexually. And when it happened, I have to tell you, a part of me came alive that I thought had died long ago. I know that's not what you want to hear, baby, and I'm sorry. But that's what I'm feeling.”
“Do you love him?”
“Don't be ridiculous. I don't even like him. I just wanted to suck his cock.”
“And if he'd wanted to fuck you?”
“Yeah, I'd have wanted that too.”
Kyle's eyes never left Preston's. “Do you love me?” he asked softly.
“More than I've ever loved anyone in my life. You are my soul, baby.”
Kyle stood up and walked over to Preston, and straddled his legs as he sat in his lover's lap. “Then what are we gonna do about this?”
“I don't know.”
“I don't want to lose you, Preston. I want to work on this. I want to do whatever it takes to make you and me last forever.”
Preston swallowed hard and fought back tears. “Me too.”
“So how about this?” Kyle said. “New rules. Number one: We always be honest and communicate our feelings, especially if they're about us feeling like we're growing apart.”
“Agreed.”
“Rule number two: Let's start spicing things up a little in the bedroom. Let's get some toys and handcuffs and bondage stuff and have some fun. And let's start adding other guys to our sex life. I think that will add a positive element for us.”
“Are you sure?” Preston asked. He'd never heard Kyle talk like this and had never even imagined hearing words like this come from his mouth.
“Yes. And rule number three: We never play with other people alone, without each other.”
“I can do that.”
“Good. Now kiss me and then take me to bed and make love to me. Just me this time.”
Preston held Kyle close to him, and kissed him more passionately than he'd thought possible. Then he picked him up and carried him into the bedroom.

The Kit Kat Club was a hip and energetic restaurant/lounge in the heart of the Zona Romantica, the area in which ninety percent of the gay establishments in Puerto Vallarta, as well as the gay beach, were located. The décor was bright recessed neon lighting with modern chic avant-garde. They were known not only for the fine food they served, but for the creative martini list that “exceeds 100 delectable delights” and the festive staff and atmosphere that kept people waiting over an hour for a table.
“Wow, this place is incredible,” Kyle said, as they were seated. He leaned over and kissed Preston on the mouth.
Preston returned the kiss and thought how lucky he was. He knew Kyle was trying really hard to put the night before behind him, and really work at making their relationship meaningful and successful. If the situation were reversed, he knew there was no way he'd have been able to forgive Kyle and move on. Though they were very similar in so many ways, they were different in a few, and this was one area in which they were very different. Preston held a grudge forever, and found it hard it forgive—and even harder to move on.
“Welcome to the Kit Kat Club,” the waiter said as he opened their napkins and placed them in Kyle and Preston's laps. “My name's Chad, and I'll be serving you this evening. Can I get you a glass of wine or a cocktail while you browse the menu?”
Preston couldn't help but notice the way Kyle stared at Chad as he spoke. The waiter was standing right next to him, so Preston scooted back an inch or two so he could get a better look. He instantly knew why Kyle was looking at him so intently. Chad was beautiful, and exactly the type of man Kyle would consider the perfect specimen. He was in his late twenties, with dark blond hair and green eyes. His tall frame was lean, but muscular. He was obviously American, but tanned beautifully, as all locals and transplants there were. When he smiled, his eyes sparkled, and dimples popped out on either side of his thin pink lips.
He looked nothing like Preston, but everything like all the boys Kyle commented on when they talked about perfect boys, as they often did. Preston felt a little jealousy build up inside him, but forced it away. He, of all people, could not be jealous. Especially that night.
“I'll have a glass of Shiraz, please,” Preston said.
“Me too,” Kyle said.
“Excellent.” Chad winked at Kyle and squeezed Preston's shoulder as he walked away.
“Did you see that?” Kyle asked.
“Yeah. He apparently thinks you're adorable. And I can't say I blame him. You are. And he certainly isn't bad on the eyes, either.”
“Right?” Kyle said, barely able to conceal his excitement. “But then he flirted with you too. I saw that little squeeze on the shoulder.”
“Ah, he was humoring me to keep me from being upset at winking at you. He can tell I'm the jealous bitchy type.”
“Shhh, here he comes,” Kyle said, and grabbed a menu and pretended to read.
“Here you are, gentlemen,” Chad said as he set a glass in front of both them. “I'll give you a moment to check out the menu, and then come back for your order.”
Kyle and Preston stared at him unabashedly.
“Let me help you with this, though,” Chad said, and turned Kyle's menu right side up and handed it back to him. “It might make narrowing your choices down a little easier.” He smiled and winked at both of them before walking away.
“Oh, my god,” Kyle said, “I'm so embarrassed. How fucking stupid of me.”
Preston laughed. “Don't worry about it. He's probably used to it. He is gorgeous. And he certainly knew how to handle the situation gracefully.”
“Well, I could just die,” Kyle said, and buried his face into his menu.

Dinner was amazing, and Preston noticed Chad was making extra trips to their table and paying them special attention. He made a point of touching them both quite a bit, and was very playful with them. When he insisted they try his two favorite desserts, compliments of him, of course, Preston knew something was brewing. He was about to bring it up himself, when once again, Kyle surprised him.
“What do you think about asking him to come back to our place when he gets off work?” Kyle asked as he bit into the bananas Foster.
“What?” Preston couldn't believe his ears. Kyle had always been the shy one, always a step behind Preston and the one to agree or disagree, but usually agree, to Preston's suggestions. Now he was taking charge and suggesting their first three-way only a few hours after they'd discussed opening their relationship up to that possibility.
“I think he's adorable, and I know you do too. And he's obviously flirting with us. We said we should add some spice to our relationship and bring others in to play every now and then. What better place to start than here? We'll never see him again after this weekend, so if it goes bad, it won't matter. I'm sure he'd be up for it. I just get that vibe. What do you say?”
“You like this guy?” Preston asked, even though he knew the answer.
“Yeah. He's very cute. I think it'd be hot.”
“And I won't have to worry about you leaving me for him?”
Kyle stared at Preston with that one look that at the same time silenced him completely and made him feel like a three-year-old.
“I'm sorry. That was stupid of me. I think he's hot. Let's do it.”
When Chad started toward them with the check, Kyle kicked Preston under the table.
“Was everything satisfactory, gentlemen?” Chad asked.
“It was great,” Preston said, and took the check as he pulled out his wallet.
“Chad, we were wondering ...” Kyle said quickly, and then stopped to work up enough saliva to swallow.
“Yes?”
“... if you'd like to come back to our hotel when you get off your shift tonight.”
Preston held his breath as he handed the check and some money to Chad.
“Thank god,” Chad said, as he took the bill. “I thought you guys were gonna be another one of those shy hot couples that never works up the nerve to ask. We are all encouraged to be very friendly and fun with our customers here at Kit Kat, but the house rule is that we can never be the one to come out and make the proposition. We can accept any and all invitations—we just can't be the one to make them.”
Preston and Kyle both looked at him, neither blinking nor breathing.
“I'd love to join you two for some fun. Can you hang around for a couple of drinks and wait for me?”
“Absolutely,” Preston said, and smiled, as he heard Kyle finally take a breath.
“Right on. Sit tight. Drinks are on me. I'm the first waiter to close out, so I should be done in about an hour. Then we can head out.” He winked at them again, and walked back to finish closing out the rest of his station.
“Oh, my god. Are we really gonna do this?” Kyle said.
“Yeah, it looks like we really are.”
“I've never done anything like this. I don't know if I'll be able to get it up.”
Preston laughed. “Give me a break, baby. First of all, you're twenty-eight years old. Secondly, you got rock hard the very first night we met just by me kissing your neck.”
“Yeah, but that was you. Of course I'm gonna get hard with
you
kissing any part of me.”
“God, I love you,” Preston said, and meant it. “But Chad is ten times hotter than I am. And he's exactly your type. Thanks for the compliment, but don't kid yourself. You'll be hard before we get back to the hotel.”
Kyle blushed and smiled.
“Oh, fuck. You're hard right now, aren't you?” Preston asked.
Kyle started laughing and waved at the bartender for another round of drinks.

“It's a great night out,” Chad said as the three of them walked into the apartment and through the living room. “Let's do it out on the balcony. I love fucking with the sound of the waves crashing against the beach.”
Kyle and Preston followed Chad out onto the large balcony, being led like two little boys into a candy shop.
Out on the balcony, Chad stripped his shirt off and kicked his shorts to the floor. He'd obviously been in this position before. He pushed Kyle against the railing, and with one hand on the shoulder, gently pushed Preston to his knees in front of him.
Chad's cock was already hard, and throbbed in front of Preston's face. Preston licked at the head and sucked on it as he looked up and watched Chad kissing his lover. He wanted to be hurt or angry or jealous, but he didn't feel any of that. Instead, he was turned on more than he could have imagined.
Kyle returned Chad's kisses tentatively at first, but when he looked down and saw Preston sucking Chad's cock and winking at him, he kissed Chad more enthusiastically. He'd thought about what it would feel like to be in a three-way before, but hadn't really given it too much thought. Though few people ever believed him, he was pretty conservative when it came to sex, and always had been. He'd been told many times he was way too hot not to be into some kink and group action. He'd thought about arguing his point, but the truth was, the image people had of him was much sexier and more flattering, so he'd never denied it.
