He lifted one hand and slipped her silky curls through his fingers.

"I love your hair."

She blinked, those green cat eyes of hers watching him as if waiting for him to pounce. The cat in her should be scared, scared to fucking death of him. There were things he wanted to do to her that were probably illegal in some cases. He wanted her under him, her legs spread, as he slid into that tight, wet passage. His cock hardened even more and his body almost went up in flames.

"Angus, really, this isn't—"

He didn't let her finish. He didn't think he wanted to wait, to worry about her next argument. No, this was the time for action.  No more waiting or worrying. He slammed his mouth down on hers and damned them both to pleasure.

Chapter Twenty-One

Maggie was lost in the taste of him, of the feel of that big body pressing up against her. The unique scent of him filled her senses. The same sandalwood cologne but beneath it was the man himself.  Strong, masculine and sexy. Holy Goddess, he was so damned sexy. In all her life, she had never had a man overtake her with a kiss. Every inch of her body screamed for relief. She ached with need. His tongue stole inside her mouth.

Goddess
.

His hands slid down her back molding over her rear end and urged her closer. Even through their layers of clothing, she could feel the heat of him. She shivered then moaned as he shifted his hips. The man was built in every respect. Visions of what she wanted to do—have done to her—swirled in her head. The moment she felt the hard length of his erection against the most intimate part of her, she shivered. This was not like the kisses he had stolen earlier, not like anything she had ever felt before.

So, this is what being ravaged by a Highlander felt like.

It was the one thing that popped into her head. Then, it dissolved as pleasure washed over her, through her.  Heat flared deep in her belly as she grew damp between her legs.  The ache inside her intensified. As pleasure built, fear crept in. Her hunger for him overwhelmed her, crashing down on her like a tidal wave. Panic surged, almost blacking out the passion she’d been enjoying. She pulled back. He tried to follow her.

He opened his eyes and she had to fight the gasp. His eyes were sharp green, darker than before and there was something in them that scared her. And drew her. Goddess help her, she wanted this. Wanted him—to Hades with everything else.

“Doona say no. If you are, do it now and leave me alone. I can’t take this, Maggie. You’re killing me by small degrees. ” The words sounded as if they had been ripped from the very depths of his soul. Dark need dripped from every syllable. In that moment, she knew she could walk away. He left the decision up to her. He leaned closer and placed his mouth on the side of her neck. The feel of his tongue gliding over her flesh sent another wave of heat lancing through her veins.

Maggie couldn’t deny him. She knew she should, that allowing him to take her in this way she was putting his life in danger. Then reality crashed down on her. This was a man who couldn’t die.

She slipped her hands from his shoulders up so she could cup his face. Slowly, she kissed him, not closing her eyes. He shuddered as she brushed her mouth against his. It was barely a touch. It was apparently enough.

He groaned her name, and wrapped his arms tight around her. Maggie closed her eyes, then her world whirled as Angus picked her up. She broke the kiss.

“Angus…”

He stopped walking and looked at her. This was a man she had dreamed of, the one she had wanted to save her, love her, take care of her. It wasn’t going to be long term. Nothing lasted. But she needed him as if she had never needed a man before in her life. It scared her, but it made her feel…safe.

“You’ve accepted me. Now, accept that I love you. I can’t explain it any better than you can. Just…let me love you.”

Tears crowded her throat but she kept her eyes dry. It was difficult to answer, to even think, but she nodded. He smiled at her, but it wasn’t the boyish grin she was accustomed to. It was straight up sexy man. He walked her over to the couch and tossed her onto it. She bounced once on top of it before he covered her with his body. Heat poured off of him.

She waited for him to take her then, but he didn’t. He looked down at her and when he spoke, there was equal measure of desire and awe coloring his voice.

“So beautiful.” He breathed the words as he brushed tendrils of her hair from her face.

Maggie smiled and opened her mouth but he stopped her.

“You don’t see it, but you are beautiful. I see you with Jack, I see the way you handle being a mother, see the way you take care of others. You are a gorgeous woman, but you’re so much more.”

Tears crowded her throat and her heart. Never in all her life had a man talked to her this way, with this kind of reverence. From the time she had hit puberty, men had found her attractive. Many had tried to sweet talk her. This wasn’t sweet talk. These words weren’t honeyed seduction. They sounded as if he had spoken from his soul. The tone caused her to shudder.

Lifting her hand, she cupped his face. So strong but so gentle at the same time. He had sorcerer eyes. They seemed to look right into her, into her soul. She hoped that he didn’t see those dark places, the ones she hid from everyone but herself. She needed to believe he saw her the way he said.

She urged him closer and lifted her head up to meet him. Maggie wanted another taste. He kissed her so slow she lost track of time. The world completely faded away as he slipped his tongue into her mouth, teasing her. Soon, though, he was kissing his way down her neck. Angus grazed his teeth over her pulse and she felt it scramble. Heat exploded through her, her nipples hardened. She slipped her hands through his hair, enjoying the way the strands through her fingers.

He shoved her blouse higher, exposing her breasts. She wasn’t large on top and she often went without a bra. He moaned in what sounded like appreciation. He pulled her blouse complete off then he practically attacked her. She laughed then moaned as his talented mouth played over her sensitive flesh. He sucked and teased her nipple, then did the same to the other. Before she could even come to terms with the pleasure he was giving her, he was kissing a back down her stomach. He shoved her skirt up to waist, then shook his head.

“Angus?”

He said nothing but stood then pulled Maggie into a sitting position. He grabbed her panties and skirt and peeled them off her body. Apparently satisfied that she was sitting naked on the couch, he pressed her legs apart and leaned forward. He kissed both of her thighs, lingering as he slid his tongue over her flesh. Goddess, he was killing her by small degrees. Centimeter by centimeter, he moved closer to sex, but it felt as if he were never going to make it there.

She felt his breath against her sensitive flesh the moment before she felt his mouth. Tension built as Angus slipped his tongue between her folds. It had been so long since she’d had a man, since she had been taken like this. Then, she thought, she had never been taken like this. That thought dissolved into pleasure as he tormented her with that talented mouth of his.

Curling her toes into the thick Aubusson carpet, Maggie tried to arch against him. If she could move a certain way, there was definitely a chance she would find release. He growled against her, the sound of it sending tremors through her body. With those big, capable hands of his, he held her down and tormented her even more. Over and over, he pushed her to the edge, but pulled back just before she would gain relief. Hunger built as he savagely kept her in place. His tongue slipped into her, over and over. When she reached the point where she didn’t think she could take it anymore, he let her fall. As the tension broke, her body shuddered with ecstasy. Wave after wave of pleasure washed through her body.

Maggie screamed out his name as she felt the first of it hit her then moaned when he did not stop. He continued on and sent her into another free fall of bliss before stopping. But the did not give her much respite.

He stood and tugged off his sweater in one fast movement. His hands went to the fastenings of his trousers next. Maggie reached for them at the same time. She had been dreaming of this for days now. Batting away his hands, she undid his pants and pushed them down. He wasn’t wearing any underwear.

“Oh, Sir Angus, I think I would have been unable to form a thought in my head if I’d known you were running around without anything on beneath those pants.”

He chuckled as he looked down at her but moaned when she wrapped her hand around his cock. Bending his head back, he settled his hands on his hips a she stroked him. She needed a taste, wanted it to the very core of her soul.  The head of his penis was already wet with his essence, and she leaned in for a lick. He groaned and allowed her only a few more licks before he pulled her back.  Then urged her back on the couch.

She opened her mouth to complain, but he stopped her with the shake of his head. “Doona think you can tease me like that, love. I want to be deep inside of you when I gain my pleasure.”

He joined her on the couch, then rose to his knees, grabbing her hips in the process.

“Maggie,” he said, his voice coming out more like a demand.  “Open your eyes.”

She opened them so she could see Angus fully. He captured her gaze then entered her with one hard thrust. They groaned together. He started to move and the hunger he had just fed started to build again. With each thrust into her body, Maggie’s appetite increased. The now familiar ache of need coiled in her stomach.

“Now, Maggie. Love, come with me.”

She couldn’t deny him that request, didn’t want to. She arched her back as he thrust into her one last, hard time as they both gave themselves over to bliss.

Chapter Twenty-Two

Long moments later, Angus stirred. Every muscle in his body was relaxed, his mind completely blank of anything but satisfaction. He couldn’t remember feeling this good—ever.  For someone who was nearing his three hundredth birthday, that was saying something. She shifted beneath him and Angus realized he was probably crushing her into the couch.

The couch
.

His brain was just starting to function again and he realized what he had done. He had just taken Maggie on the couch. What the bloody hell had he been thinking?

"Oh, stop being scandalized, Angus," Maggie mumbled.

He pulled himself up to rest his weight on his arms and stared down at her. Her hair was a mess of curls splayed out across the sofa, her face bore the marks of his scruffy beard, and she was smiling. Her eyes were still closed but he had a feeling if they hadn't been, they would have been dancing with laughter. She laughed a lot at his expense.

"What?"

She didn't respond at first, but slowly, her eyes opened. Instead of the laughter he expected, heat and passion still shimmered within the jade depths. They had just made love and he wanted her. Angus didn’t think he would ever get enough her. Just at that look he felt his cock getting hard again.

"Let it go, Angus. It's just...need."

That made him frown. "I hate to think of what we did as
just
anything."

She chuckled at that. The vibrations shifted over his cock and he sighed. Even if he didn’t already knew she was a witch, he would accuse her of being one. Every movement she made, every look she gave him, enticed him. Angus was completely under her spell, captured by a woman who had no use for his theories or facts.

What the bloody hell would he do now?

"Well, it definitely wasn't something that was just a little."

For a second, he didn't really pick up on what she was saying. Then it hit him. His face heated even as he chuckled.

This time, she laughed at him out loud. "Oh, Angus, if you could see your blush. You really are too cute. Especially since you ravished me in the middle of the day."

"Now what is that supposed to mean?" he asked, annoyed at her assumptions. He might not be as bad as Fletcher, but it wasn’t like he was some bloody monk.

She shrugged as she slipped her hands up over his chest and behind his neck. "I wasn't sure if it was something you had in you."

"Is that a fact?" he asked, now realizing from her tone she was teasing him. Even now she could tease him, drive him crazy. Angus really didn’t know if he would ever get enough of her.

She leaned up and placed several open mouth kisses over his neck. As he felt her tongue flick out against his throat, he swallowed then shuddered. Lord, she was going to be the death of him.

"You are definitely a tasty man."

Bawdy talk never embarrassed him, and except for that one little moment, he usually found it exciting. Especially when she hummed over his flesh. God, the woman was a sex goddess.

"We really shouldn't,” he said, meaning they had already tempted Fate. He knew it wouldn’t be long before someone came knocking at the door.

She laughed. "I think we already did."

Then it hit him what they had just done and that they hadn't used any precautions.

"Maggie...we didn't use anything."

She looked up at him. "I'm on birth control."

“Thank God,” he said as he sat up on the couch, pulling her up and over on his lap.

She smiled down at him, that little half smile that shot straight to his heart.

His heart.

It hit him then that she could damage it. It had only been a few weeks.

“Angus?” she asked, worry shading her words. The light was fading behind her, but the last rays of the sun brought out the bright red strands within the mahogany curls.

He had been telling her the truth. Angus was in love with her and he did know he would never be the same. He also knew she had plans to leave as soon as they were done. It didn’t matter and he couldn’t let it matter. There was something he had learned through the years. Living in the moment was the only way to keep sane.

“Nothing, love,” he said, cupping her face with his hand. “Nothing at all.”

She leaned down, keeping her eyes open, and kissed him. Slowly, small kisses turned into more, as she slipped her tongue into his mouth. She slid it against his, teasing him, tempting him. He had thought before that there had never been another woman like her, and he knew without a doubt, there never would be again. She was everything he tried to avoid for years and he didn’t even care.
