“Just like that,” he stated firmly after he’d finished kissing her. With her lips slightly swollen and her face flushed, he really didn’t want to spend the free time they had “talking things out.” They’d been given a reprieve from parenting, and as much as he adored his child, he couldn’t help enjoying the idea of having alone time with Charlie. Adult alone time. Adult naked alone time.

“You just want sex,” she groused.

“Yes, lots of it.”

Charlie laughed and pinched his side. He kissed the corner of her mouth, and when she didn’t protest, he continued back on the journey he’d started earlier. Grant had acquired a taste for Charlie back in Rome, and he dipped his head to sample what he’d become addicted to. She dug her nails into his shoulders, and he licked and suckled the soft folds of her body. The moans she made in the back of her throat encouraged him, and he pushed his tongue inside her.

“Grant,” she whispered breathlessly.

He loved the sound of his name on her lips and reveled in the fact he would hear it again and again as time passed. This was how it was supposed to be. Them together. He was sure there would be obstacles, but he wasn’t going to let that stop him from claiming the happiness fate had dropped in his lap.

“Please…”

Grant knew what she wanted, needed from him, but he wasn’t in a hurry. Teasing her tight bundle of nerves with the tip of his tongue, he slipped two fingers inside her. He loved the sensation of her body clenching and releasing against his fingers as he tongued her closer to climax. He rested his head on the inside of her thigh and watched as she pushed onto his fingers. With her body opened to him and her mouth open on a silent scream, he couldn’t think of anywhere he’d rather be in that moment. She came with soft moans and clenched fists as he used his fingers to push her over the edge. His senses were overcome with the taste, smell, and touch of her release, and he dipped his head back down to lap up more of what she had to offer.

“Inside…I need you inside,” she moaned, pulling at his shoulders.

He was content to stay where he was and taste more from her, but she was forceful, and he was willing to be weak.

Charlie brushed a lock of hair from his face, and he kissed her fingertips as they trailed across his lips. “We have to be careful this time.”

“Even if I promise to marry you?”

She looked at him blankly but eventually shoved at his chest. “This is serious, Grant.”

“Who says I’m joking?”

“That’s the worst proposal I’ve ever heard.”

“How many have you had?” he asked with a raised eyebrow.

She wiggled until she was able to get from under him and flopped off the side of the bed. He tried to reach for her, but she was too quick and was across the room before he could bring her back to bed.

“Stay,” she commanded before running from the room.

He didn’t have long to wait before she ran back into the room with a box of condoms in her hands.

“Mary and I talked,” she explained with a shrug.

Grant opened his mouth but closed it quickly. Instead he held out his hand and gestured for her to join him on the bed.

“I do want a better proposal, though. Not now, but eventually,” she stated, waving the box of condoms in front of her.

“I know.” He smiled, still beckoning her over.

“Oh, and I want our new house to have a bigger kitchen.”

“Will you just come here, woman? We can talk later.”

Charlie giggled and launched herself onto the bed. They wrestled for a bit, him trying to get the condoms from her and her trying to straddle him. He eventually prevailed and pressed his body against hers as he fumbled the box open.

“I wanted to be on top this time,” she groaned.

“Next time.” He sighed, trying to maneuver the condom on.

“I think it’s inside out?”

“Charlie…”

Instead of cooperating, she continued to giggle at his exacerbated tone. “You picked me,” she chided.

Grant positioned himself at her entrance and looked down at her smiling face. With a quick kiss, he slipped inside and sighed when he was fully situated.

“We picked each other,” he whispered into her ear.

She smiled up at him as a lone tear slid down her cheek. “God, enough with the fucking tears.” She chuckled.

He kissed her eyelids and brushed tears away with the pad of his thumb. “I’ll make sure to keep you too busy for crying.” He waggled his eyebrows.

She snorted and smacked him on his butt. “Well, get to it.”

They laughed, moaned, and whispered words of love and endearment as he rode them both closer toward pleasure.
