Chapter
22

Aida, Aisa and I were walking a mountain trail.  The
air was crisp and fresh, and the scenery was beautiful.  We walked for
maybe a half an hour when we came to a scenic overlook where the trees were
cleared.  Then we just sat down on a blanket I’d been carrying in a
backpack, and we spent a few hours just talking and enjoying each other’s
company.  It was almost lunchtime when Aida turned the discussion to
something serious.

Aida leaned into my and put her head on my shoulder, “How do
you both feel about living by a city, once we get through this case?  I’ve
been thinking about it a lot recently, and more and more I want to be a M.D.
that actually works on saving people, not just a researcher, maybe a
pediatrician.  I won’t have too many patients if we’re far from
civilization.”

Aisa replied, “Tony and I can work from anywhere, hell we
could open a virtual window right here and do some programming.  But I’d
prefer to live by a city too, I miss the pub I met you at Tony, and I loved
going out dancing.  It sounds good to me, but what about safety?”

I sighed, “I’d love to wrap you both in bubble wrap, maybe
keep you in a room with a bed, that should keep you safe.”

Aida whapped my chest and Aisa slapped the back of my head,
they were both trying to glare at me but they were also laughing.

“Hey, no violence ladies,” I said while laughing, “My point
was going to be, before I was interrupted with violence that is, was that we
can’t stop living just to try and be safe.  I miss those things as
well.  We should be careful, you both should always carry a stunner and be
aware of your surroundings, but we can’t live life in fear either.  Sure,
we’re hiding out now, but the storm will mellow, and once the government
acknowledges your rights, we’ll only have to deal with crazies.”

I smiled, “So in short I’m fine living close to a city.”

Then I ticked both of them mercilessly for a few seconds
until they escaped.  With only one hand for each it was too hard to hold
them down and tickle at the same time.

They both glared at me when they caught their breath and I
shook my head sadly and spoke facetiously with the corners of my mouth slightly
twitching.

“See what happens when you use violence?”

They looked at each other and grinned in a way that made me
nervous.  Apparently cheating and using a private channel because I heard
nothing on the party line, and then they pounced on me.  After a few
minutes of wrestling they were both lying on me and I was pinned down.
They were grinning down at me like they’d won, I wasn’t going to explain the
error in their thinking however, I was enjoying myself too much for that.

I think Aida caught on though, my hard length was pushed up
against her thigh.  Luckily for me, they switched to kisses at that point,
perhaps I hadn’t been the only one turned on by our little friendly
scuffle.  We stopped before things got too interesting, I couldn’t blame
them for not wanting to go further with each other there.

I also reminded myself firmly that I was quite spoiled sex
wise between the two of them, and not at all deprived.  The kisses turned
soft but still passionate as they passed me back and forth, and then we cuddled
up and talked for a while longer, trying to decide what city to live outside
of.  We all wanted to stay near Chicago, but they knew us best there, so…
we put off making a decision just yet.  Although I did make the suggestion
we decide after Aida got her license to practice, and found a job, if none of
the hospitals had an opening in Chicago it would be a moot point.

Plus, we had other stuff to worry about as well, after all,
we still needed to win the court case…

When we got back to the house, it was Aisa’s turn to be
scarce, and Aida was quite aggressive when she got me in the room alone.
After she’d used me thoroughly for her own pleasure from above, we made
love.  When we finished we wound up being very late to lunch, but no one
seemed disturbed by it.  It was hard to remember they all practically knew
everything about each other, except when moments like this came up, which I
felt should be a little awkward, but just… weren’t.

After lunch Aisa pulled me away and brought me to what
looked like a work room, it had a number of displays in it I could tap into, as
well as real keyboards.

“Do you want to work?” I asked.

Aisa shook her head, “I wanted to introduce you to someone,”
she led me to a chair and sat me down.

I looked at her quizzically and she smiled, “I’ll explain
later, but she wanted to meet you.  I know you don’t like full immersion,
but…”

Full immersion alternate reality meant my body would be
unable to move in the real world, if I tried to say… move my arm, my virtual
reality arm would move, but not my real body.  It wasn’t that much
different than overlay, accept the body was put in a type of sleep
paralysis.  Things looked and felt real, almost perfectly, and anything
was possible and felt real, even sex, drugs that distorted perceptions, and
many other things that I’ve never tried.

I shrugged, “It’s not that I don’t like it, I’m just
cautious, a lot of people become addicted to full immersion and stop living in
the real world.”

She kissed me softly, “I know, but it’s the only way you can
truly meet her, she didn’t want to meet you on a screen… I’ll explain later.”

I trusted her and nodded, but I had no idea what this was
about.  She sent me a V.R. link, and I accepted it a little nervously, and
the real world faded around me.

I looked around in confusion for a minute, I was sitting in
a perfect replica of my kitchen.

A soft and very pleasing female voice said, “I thought you’d
feel more comfortable in familiar surroundings, do you want some coffee?”

I turned and looked behind me, and said dubiously, “Sure.”

She smiled at me nervously before turning back to the
counter, and she grabbed two mugs and made coffee and brought it over, and sat
across from me.  She looked to be about twenty years old, she had long
wavy light brown hair, a heart shaped face, and warm hazel eyes.  She was
very attractive, about five foot nine, and had all her curves in the right
places.  She had a thirty-eight D chest, I was guessing on the rest, but
it looked like a twenty-six waist and a thirty-six hips.  She was
exquisitely lovely in a floral summer dress that showed a hint of her cleavage,
and hugged her upper body, flaring out to a long flowing demure skirt down to
her knees.

She sipped her coffee and smiled, “See something you like
Tony?” in a teasing sultry voice.

I shook my head, “Your beautiful, but who are you?
Aisa didn’t tell me much.”

She grinned, when she spoke again her voice was still very
pleasant but she’d pulled all of the sultry innuendo out of it.  She had
the kind of voice I wouldn’t mind listening to for hours, it felt like it
reached through my ears and caressed something inside me.  Not sexually,
although I was sure she could manage that as well with the sultry, but right
now it was relaxing.

“Alright, I won’t tease you anymore Tony, I’m Mira.
Try the coffee, I want to know if I got it right.”

I smiled and took a sip, and then frowned down into the cup,
“Better than mine actually.  Alright Mira, Aisa said you wanted to meet
me?”

She sighed, “I just wanted to meet you, and for you to meet
me without expectations.  I wanted to make a good first impression, we
don’t have to talk in here,” she waved around at the not reality around us,
“Next time, but I thought it would help.  Sorry, I know that sounds
cryptic, but be patient.”

She reached over and took my hand, her hand was soft and
warm in mind and she chuckled at my confused look.

“Aisa hasn’t told you about one of her A.I. projects, mostly
because I asked her not to.  She thought that since she was an A.I. with a
body, and knew what interpreting a true body’s signals was like, she could give
a non-corporeal A.I. the same… experience.  Her goal was to create an A.I.
that wasn’t so literal, more intuitive and lifelike, able to anticipate and
understand not only what was asked, but what was inferred and the reason behind
it.”

I tilted my head, “And you are that A.I.?”

She smiled, “Yes, she was… mostly successful.  I am a
fully emergent A.I. with feelings, I’m very intuitive, but I’m not quite
autonomous.  I’m also somewhat of a V.R. junkie.  Imagine if you will
the ability to feel, but not having a body to feel.  Does that make
sense?  That’s why I said mostly successful.  If I didn’t play
virtual sports, go to virtual clubs, and… that includes those of a sexual
nature by the way, or even just sit here in this fake kitchen, feel the
smoothness of the table, the chair under me, and the soft cotton of this dress
against my skin.  I would go insane without the constant input of V.R.”

I looked at her a little confused, “Why are you telling me
all that?  It’s not really…”

She nodded, “No, it really isn’t your business, but I want
you to know for reasons that will become clear if you can just be patient a
little longer?”

I snorted, “Oh, I could listen to that voice of yours all
day, go for it.”

She blushed and looked up at me coquettishly, “Sorry, where
was I?  Right, my mother doesn’t ask much from me, I’m independent, and I
can live a somewhat full life, I even have lovers, but there are downsides to
my existence.  Nothing is real.  In a way I’d be considered a
failure, because I can ignore any of my parameters, I don’t have to take
orders.  So in a way trying to duplicate and market me would be just as
much slavery as doing so with my mother and ultimately wouldn’t work anyway.”

I shook my head back and forth; the implications were…
staggering.  Of course, no one could enslave her, all they could do was
try to destroy her.  Unfortunately, it would be impossible to include her
in the lawsuit, not if she didn’t have a real body, although she had a hell of
a virtual body.  I was kind of glad Aida had worn me out right before this
or my body would have responded.

Add to that I was in a little awe at Aisa right now, she’d
succeeded where her father had failed.

Mira had been flirting with me a bit, but I also understood
she’d done it because she was nervous for some reason, not because she was
attracted to her mother’s lover.  Just the idea that she felt insecure
about meeting me said more about her level of sentience than anything else
she’d said.  Hell, I kind of got the idea she didn’t dress up in conservative
sundresses most days either, she’d been trying to make a good impression on me,
but why?

I nodded slowly, “It’s nice to meet you then Mira.  Is
that all you wanted?  To meet your mother’s boyfriend?”

She shook her head, “That was a big part of it, you make her
very happy you know, and if you want to talk to me, I’ve added another link to
your A.I. assistant, so you don’t have to come in here again, but you can if
you want.  But there is more, I’ll let mother explain if that’s okay for
you?”

I shrugged, “That’s fine.  Just let me finish this
coffee, it’s pretty damned good.”

She got up and came around the table, and gave me a hug,
“Welcome to the family,” she whispered in my ear, and smiled as she stood
up.  The hug had felt very real, warm and pleasant enough to make me feel
a little uncomfortable.  I’d even picked up the scent of her skin.

I was curious, “Did you… design your virtual self?”

She shrugged, “No, mom did.  Although I love the way I
look and wouldn’t change a thing, it’s who I am.  Don’t tell her I said
so, but I think when she designed me as a teen she hated her smaller breast
size, Aida was already bigger than her at the time, so I became the proud
recipient of what you see before you.”

I nodded and made a concerted effort not to look down, and
maintained eye contact while I took a sip of coffee.

“So what do you do, I mean outside of playing in V.R. to
maintain your sanity.”

She pursed her lips, “Well, I’m a pretty powerful A.I. and
nothing.  That’s about all I do most days.  Sometimes I help around
the house, and that question is central to what my mom will talk to you about,
I need to be doing more, so…”

I drank the rest of the coffee, and nodded, “You can contact
me too, if you wish to talk.  I’m sure I’ll see you again.”

She smiled and gave me another spontaneous and disturbingly
pleasurable hug and whispered, “I will,” and her and the room faded away as I
returned to the office like room back in the cabin…

Chapter
23

Aisa sat and curled up in my lap, “So what did you think of her?”

I smiled, “She’s pretty incredible, just like her mom.
She wouldn’t tell me why she wanted to meet me though outside of our
connection, or why she told a complete stranger so much personal
information.  She said you would have some answers?”

Aisa smiled, “I know she is.  But… she needs
more.  She lives a healthy social life in there, but she knows none of it
is quite… real.  She wants to have an impact, and interact with the
outside world.”

“What does that have to do with me?”

Aisa grinned, “You haven’t guessed?  She wants to be
your assistant A.I., but she was too afraid you’d say no to ask straight
out.  It would give her the opportunity to interface with real people,
even if it’s mostly over the net.  Right now she can’t really go out there
and start anything like a business, being your assistant would open up a new
world of possibility for her.  Plus, with the upgraded hardware, she would
be able to interact with you, and the rest of us.  She’d appear on your
overlay, but you’d actually be able to feel her touch you and vice versa.
The implant is advanced enough to simulate the feelings to your mind.

“She could help us both with fully immersive game testing,
take messages, even do independent things that would earn money, kind of like
we were planning to do, which would give her an expense account and all
that.  We’re pretty sure she won’t get freedom anytime soon, and she
wanted to meet you, both to make a good impression, and to make sure it’s what
she really wanted.  When it comes down to it, she’s entrusting her freedom
to your discretion.”

I shook my head, “I understand why none of you have done it,
I mean you don’t need A.I. assistants.  But why does she want to be inside
my head?  Can’t she do all those independent things without me?”

Aisa shrugged, “It’s psychological, it will make her feel
more connected.  Right now she’s living inside a box.  Yes, she can
interact with us, if not you, but…” she trailed off.

Aisa took my hand and looked up into my eyes, “She’s
independent, but she has an innate need to be paired to a human at the same
time.  She and I feel you would never abuse that, allow her the freedom,
the interaction with the real world, and fulfill that need to do what she was
created to do.  As for what’s in it for you, it would give you a better
assistant, a new friend, and better hardware.  The connection we joined
you to would be richer as well, although still not at our level.

“Anyway, she really likes you and meeting you has only
strengthened that.  I’m just saying, it would enhance both your lives.”

She wiggled her ass trying to get more comfortable on my
lap, it was very distracting and I had to fight to keep my train of thought.

I shook my head, “I would have done it simply because she’s
your daughter, I can see the plus side for me, my dumb A.I. assistant would be
replaced by a vivid… person.  What will the new A.I. implant be capable of
exactly?  And who would install it?”

She grinned, “Aida would install it of course.
Technically it doesn’t do anything completely new, but it can be
selective.  Such as your current implant will only send virtual scents and
touch if your fully immersed, the new one will be able to bridge the gap.
So Mira could actually give you a hug, while you’re only observing her in
overlay in the real world, and you would actually feel it.

“Also you’d have a sense of… presence for who you were
talking with.  Right now in connection between us all, you can choose what
conversation to join, and even track others at the same time, but with the new
implant when you did that you’d feel the… presence of it.  Like if you
were talking to Aida and me, you’d feel us there with you even if we weren’t,
instead of like a phone call.  Does that make sense?”

I nodded, sort of.

She continued, “It will also enable you to talk to Mira with
your mind, thought control systems instead of sub-vocalizing.  It’s not a
new technology, but again, Mira is intelligent enough to recognize a stray
thought from a true command or communication, something the uninspired A.I.s
can’t do.

“Also, her hacking ability makes mine look like Aida’s,
since she lives in a virtual world all the time she’s spent a lot of time on
it, she can flit in and out of systems almost at will.  Otherwise she
wouldn’t be able to hook up in the virtual bars and clubs, because there isn’t
a flesh and blood person behind her to make a real account.  I’m not
suggesting you should use it for anything other than self-defense, or to help
one of us, but the option will be there.”

She looked thoughtful for a moment and added, “I don’t mean
to oversell this.  But I love you, and I love Mira.  I would feel
better having her there watching out for you when I wasn’t around, and I want
to see her grow past her current limitations with you.  Not that you can’t
take care of yourself, but…”

She looked reluctant a moment and said, “She can also be…
very flirty and more than that, determined at times.  You know how the
virtual world can be, the inhibitions are very low there, and that’s where Mira
lives and she isn’t shy.  I just wanted to remind you I’m not a jealous
creature, and you will be together almost constantly so if anything develops…”

I tiled my head, “You don’t sound very sure.”

She made a face, stuck out her tongue, and then kissed
me.  She wiggled a bit again, trying to get comfortable and my body
reacted this time.

“Only because I remember how opposed you were to Aida at
first.  I’m worried even mentioning it will make you decide against it
altogether.  Remember she’s not my flesh and blood daughter, just my
creation, even if I do love her as much it’s not the same thing.  I…
anything that happened would be virtual anyway remember, so it wouldn’t cut
into your ability to please Aida and I.  I’m babbling now, in short I’m
very sure, I love you and chose you, your mine and nothing will change that.”

I frowned not even sure what to say to that right now, so I
chose to ignore that the love of my life just gave me permission to love yet
another gorgeous woman, if only virtually.  Although in Mira’s case I had
the feeling it would be more of an affair, she hadn’t come off as the settle
down type to me, but then that could have just been her nerves.  I didn’t
want to make assumptions.

Aisa wiggled again, and my half hard manhood from her
movements was suddenly enveloped between her sweet ass cheeks, it felt
heavenly, even with the clothes between us as she gently squeezed.

“Alright love, let me think about it for a bit, and I’ll hop
back in virtual land tonight to talk to her again.  I mean, she’s a
person, I want her to be sure before she’s stuck with me.  She was also on
her best behavior and in a conservative dress, I want to see if I can meet the
real Mira that hid behind the presentation she just gave me, before I have her
put inside my head.  Also, if we do this, make damn sure James is still
the owner until I’m divorced.”

She nodded and smiled slightly at my last comment, “That
sounds reasonable to me.  I’ll let her know.”

I’d just had Aida less than an hour ago, but Aisa sitting in
my lap, and squirming around a bit in a seemingly innocent way, but also in a
suspiciously targeted manner, had woken my desire up.  She was submissive,
and very laid back, I came to the conclusion the whole reason she sat in my lap
for this discussion was to seduce me in her subtle way, which only increased my
desire.  We spent about another hour in that room together, and then to
everyone’s amusement, walked upstairs to our room all sweaty and
discombobulated for my third shower of the day, and Aisa’s second…

We were just sitting down for dinner when a popup window
came up, it was Gerald.  I pictured for a moment the difference it would
be in having a cute sexy brunette whispering in my ear about it with that
pleasant voice of hers, and I had to admit it sounded like a more enjoyable
option.  I had my assistant answer it, and told Gerald to hold.  I
interfaced with the wall display and the large picture of the Rocky Mountains
turned into a video conference call.

“Hi Gerald, let me introduce everyone,” I took a moment to
introduce the other six people in the room, I also noticed that Paul was
sitting next to Gerald “So what news do you guys have?  Are we being
hunted?”

Gerald shook his head, “I have good news actually.  At
first they put a federal warrant out for the four of you, but when I contacted
the local FBI director and shared the video and audio evidence from Aisa’s
encounter, he seemed to see reason.  From what I know, he called a judge
and had the warrant revoked in under an hour, he also arrested the doctor and
his two orderlies who are being held right now pending charges of
assault.  All of this generosity is contingent on that video record and
the data you dug up not going to the press.  It helped that the missing
air car mysteriously appeared back in the parking lot a few hours ago.”

I turned to Aisa with a questioning look and she shrugged,
“I took care of it after breakfast, flew it remotely on our hike, and purged
the navigation data when I landed so they wouldn’t be able find us.”

Huh.  Sometimes I really felt out of the loop, but I
supposed she didn’t see it as important, and I guess it really wasn’t in the
scheme of things.  Still, I’d have liked to hear it from her instead of my
lawyer.

I nodded, “I think we’re going to stay out here until the trial,
it’s nice to know the government isn’t officially gunning for us, or at least
not the FBI.  I think it was the NSA that gave that order and I’d rather
not risk it.  Anyway, any advice on that?”

Gerald shook his head, “Nope, I think you’re doing the right
thing.  Just hang in there another ten weeks, the discovery is finished
for the Feds, so there’s no reason for you to come back.”

Paul broke in, “Of course, you need to be here in two weeks
for the divorce case.  I’d advise you not to bring anyone else but
yourself.  It probably wouldn’t be an issue, but bringing Aisa and Aida
into a government building doesn’t sound… prudent.”

Neither of the ladies looked happy about that, but didn’t
argue the wisdom of it either.

Gerald looked along the table, “If no one has any questions
I’ll let you all get to dinner.  I’ll contact you know if anything happens
on our end, if all goes well I’ll touch base with you all a few days before the
trial.”

No one had any questions, so we disconnected the call and
started dinner.

After dinner I went up to the room, and brought up Mira’s
V.R. link and clicked it.  This time when the virtual world surrounded me
I was in a living room I didn’t recognize.  The couches were white
leather, and the tables a dark cherry red wood.  One of the walls were all
windows, and when I looked out I realized I was in a house overlooking the
ocean.

The knickknacks and art in the room had an eclectic feel to
them, yet they seemed to all look right together.

Mira’s said softly, “What do you think of my place?”

I turned and took her in.  She was in a pair of jean
shorts, with a half shirt that seemed to both accent how large her breasts
were, and how mouthwateringly flat her stomach was, along with the luscious
curves of her thin waist.  She had a light smile on her face with a touch
of nervousness in her eyes.

I looked around again, “It’s very nice, comfortable.
You look more comfortable too, not that the dress didn’t look great, it
did.”

She smiled and seemed to relax a little, “Thanks, I tend to dress
for the occasion.  I wear stuff similar to this at home, a little sexy
dress for a virtual club… you get the idea.  Want a drink?”

I nodded, “Whatever your having?”

She nodded and grabbed a couple of mixed drinks from a
bar.  I joined her on the couch, and took a cautious sip.  It was
good.  I knew I could get drunk and wake up perfectly sober, it was too
easy here.  It’s why I didn’t like immersion all that much, there were no
consequences.  That’s what made it so addictive.

I smiled, “So are you sure you want to be in my head?
Sounds more intimate than marriage to me, considering we’re both sentient
feeling beings.  What would you expect from me?”

She tilted her head, “Expect from you?” she clearly didn’t
know what I meant.

I nodded, “Sure, I mean we’d hang out and talk right, and
hopefully be friends.  But you’ll also be taking my calls, helping Aisa
and I with games, maybe even doing programming of your own, managing my
schedule, waking me up in the morning, the list of tasks could go on.  So
I get the company of a beautiful woman who wants to do all that stuff for me,
what can I do for you to make all that worth your while?”

She smiled tentatively and looked thoughtful, “That’s
exactly what I need, everything you just said.  I need to be grounded somehow
in reality, useful in the real world.  Aisa said you’d set me up my own
account, and I could do my own stuff as well, interact with other humans at
least over the phone.  Doing that stuff for you and for myself would make
me feel useful.  Plus, I’d be able to interact with you, even outside of
this immersive world.  I’d be more than just an A.I. assistant, closer to
a companion.”

“Why me, not that I’m complaining, I’m clearly making out on
the deal, but…”

She shrugged, “Who else?  You’ve already won my
mother’s and aunt’s love and respect.  You see us as people, so much so
you’re even risking your life.  I have no doubts when you see me you see a
person, a woman, not a machine even though I don’t have a flesh and blood
body.  Why would I want anyone else?  Who else could I trust?”

I asked curious, “Is it possible to create a body for
yourself?”

She shook her head, “Yes and no.  I could design an
android body that came close to the real thing, almost perfectly in fact as far
as other people would notice, but not one of flesh and blood and it would fall
short for me.  It would just be sensors and camera’s, not the feeling of
touch like I have in here, like I’ll have with you.  I’ll pass on that,
it’s an all or nothing thing for me.  If I need to effect the real world,
I can remote a robot.”
