  4. Does Neha's wealth alienate her from the reader? As Estella points out to Sonya, would Neha's decisions have seemed more forgivable had she not been so wealthy?
  5. What do you think really motivates Sonya to go in search of her birth mother?
  6. Do you empathize with this decision?
  7. Consider Neha and Sonya's characters. Do they have more in common than either are willing to first acknowledge?

About the Author

Jaishree Misra is one of India's best-selling novelists, this being her seventh work of fiction. She completed an MA in English Literature from Kerala University before moving to England to study Special Education at the University of London. She has worked in special needs, child-care, radio journalism and as a film examiner at the British Board of Film Classification. In 2009, she moved to New Delhi, where she is helping develop a residential community for adults with learning disabilities.
