ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I am very grateful for all those who gave their support and encouragement and provided information in the process of writing this book. Without your help, it would never have been completed!

I'd like to say thank you to the following people.

My husband, Scott, who provides great feedback and constant encouragement. Your brainstorming efforts gave me a boost and some wonderful ideas for my pilot and heroine. Your love and support allow me to follow my dreams and write the books of my heart. I will be forever grateful.

Cathy Gohlke, fellow author and dear friend, who helped me brainstorm ideas for this book while we toured England and Scotland and visited Tyntesfield, the inspiration for the setting of the Highland Hall series. I love sharing our writing journey together!

Terri Gillespie, fellow author and amazing woman of faith, who continually supports and encourages me and so many other writer friends. You are an inspiration, and I treasure our friendship!

Judy Conroy, who is the best listener and encourager ever. I am blessed by your friendship!

Steve Laube, my literary agent, for his patience, guidance, and wise counsel. He has been a great advocate who has represented me well. I am blessed to be your client.

Shannon Marchese, Jen Peterson, Karen Ball, Laura Wright, and Rose Decaen, my gifted editors, who helped me shape the story and then polish it so readers will truly enjoy it.

Ruth Moppett of the National Trust staff at Tyntesfield, near Bristol, England, who gave us a special tour and answered all our questions in the most gracious manner. Your work is valuable, and your time with us was a real treat.

Dr. Peter Gray, lead educator for FutureLearn's “World War I: Aviation Comes of Age,” an amazing online course that gave me some great information for my story.

Mary Gibson, author of
Warneford, VC,
the inspiring biography of Rex Warneford, the World War I pilot who is the inspiration for Alex Goodwin.

Ethel M. Bilbrough, in association with the Imperial War Museums, the author of
My War Diary 1914–1918,
for the inside scoop on life in London during World War I.

Kristopher Orr, the multitalented designer at WaterBrook Multnomah, and Mike Heath, of Magnus Creative, for the lovely cover design. Thanks for inviting me into the process! I love the way you captured the mood of the story and my heroine—again!

Darna Michie, owner of East Angel Harbor Hats, who created the lovely hat for our cover model to wear for the photo shoot. Your historic hat designs are the best!

Amy Haddock, Jessica Lamb, Lori Addicott, and the entire WaterBrook Multnomah team for their great work with marketing, publicity, production, and sales. You all are the best!

My children, Josh, Melinda, Melissa, Peter, Ben, Galan, Megan, and Lizzy, and my mother-in-law, Shirley, for the way you cheer me on. It's great to have a family who love and appreciate each other—and you do!

Most of all, I thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for His wonderful grace and abundant provision in my life. I am thankful for the gifts and talents He has given me, and I hope to always use those in ways that bless Him and bring Him all the glory and honor.
