“I had it on good authority that a local resident has had his eye on the lighthouse for more than twenty years. I couldn't deprive him of that dream.”
He might be able to afford his dream now, but it wouldn't be worth a thing if Sierra and Austin didn't share it with him. “How would you like to marry a horse's ass and share his dream?”
Sierra's eyes sparkled with unshed tears. “I was beginning to wonder if you had been calling me the horse's ass, or yourself?”
Matt looked at her as if she was nuts. “You didn't answer the question, Sierra.”
“You didn't ask it properly.”
“Sierra”—he reached out and brushed a lock of her hair away from her face—“will you marry me?”
“Yes.” Sierra threw her arms around his neck and captured his mouth.
Matt allowed himself to be tumbled backward. The feel of her mouth was driving him nuts. “I love you, Sierra.”
“I love you too.” Sierra's prim and proper skirt was hiked up to midthigh as she straddled his hips.
Matt's hands slid up her thighs. “People are going to think I'm marrying you for the eighteen acres.” He didn't like that thought at all. “Maybe you can turn them into a wildlife habitat or something.”
Sierra closed her eyes as Matt's fingers went higher. “Can't, the land's not in my name.”
Matt's fingers froze. “Whose name is it in?” If she'd bought the property and put it in his name, he was going to be furious. He'd buy his own dreams.
“Austin's. It was part of his trust money that bought the property. I figure he'll thank me in the future.”
Part
of his trust money? How much money did a four-year-old have in his piggy bank? “Good.”
“I was going to buy it, Matt, but I figured the man I fell in love with wouldn't appreciate having the town speculate as to why you were marrying me.” Sierra leaned forward and kissed him. “But someone had to buy the property, Matt. When you build our dream home, we won't want the view of the harbor or the town obstructed by an Ed's Beds Motel.”
Matt chuckled as he rolled over, bringing Sierra beneath him. “Ed's Beds?”
“There are three of them outside of Seattle. Rumor has it he's looking to expand.” Sierra sighed as his mouth trailed down her throat. “Do you realize this is the exact same spot where we first met?”
“Carrie's Hill—how could I forget?” Matt fingers undid her top button. “Where's Austin?”
“With his father and grandfather.”
Matt smiled against the rapid pounding of her pulse. “Till when?” There was a chance they might be able to make it back to his place, if they had enough time.
“We have dinner reservations at seven.”
Matt glanced at his watch and grinned. “We have three hours?” He stood up and hauled Sierra to her feet.
“Will it be enough time?” she teased as they hurried to his truck.
Matt didn't open the passenger door for her. Instead he pressed her up against it and kissed her like he'd been dying to do for the past nine days.
When they came up for air, he said, “No, Sierra, three hours isn't enough time. I'm going to spend the rest of my life with you, and it still won't be enough.”
