“
Far from it. I just need you make sure that I will always be able give you anything and everything you deserve,” he said. “This is just making sure that we stay ’comfortable’ forever, maybe even more than that in the future. Maybe more stock options,” he added.
“
That sounds perfect,” she said as she looked at him.
“
Well it is, and I have seen how much you struggled with Rochelle’s college life and the tuition fees,” he said. She shrugged and shook her head.
“
I managed just fine,” she said.
“
Yes, but if we had this income then, maybe we could have started investing sooner,” he said. This time, it was her turn to comfort him. She looked at him and held his face in her hands.
“
Everything has its own time,” she said.
“
I guess everything does have its time,” Taylor agreed. Desiree looked into his eyes and again, she felt the worry creeping in. She looked at his bruised knuckles and then back into his clear eyes.
“
Are you absolutely sure this cage fighting thing is safe?” she asked. Taylor smiled and nodded.
“
One hundred per cent,” he said.
“
Then I guess all I can do is be a supportive girlfriend,” she said. Taylor smiled and pulled her closer to him. He kissed her deeply and then pulled away to look at her,
“
My favorite words from my favorite girl,” he said in a low voice. She smiled at him and put her hand behind his neck.
“
Just promise me that you are safe. That is all I care about,” she said.
“
I am safe, babe. I told you, those other fighters have nothing on me,” Taylor said confidently before he pulled her back to him and kissed her again. She pulled him close and kissed him again as he pulled her to her to get on top of him. She straddled him and looked into his eyes. She kissed him again as he slipped a hand under her top, caressing her back. She moaned softly when she felt his hand slowly rising up, cupping a feel of her full mound. He suddenly pulled away from her and lifted her top up. She looked at him and raised her arms up, allowing him to pull the top away from her arms. She looked at him as he let the top drop to the ground as he looked at her chest rising up and down in perfect rhythm with her breath. She leaned forward to kiss him as he began working on the clasp of her bra. A soft sigh escaped her lips when she felt her bra pulling away from her body. Taylor looked at her for what seemed an eternity before slipping a hand behind her neck and pulling her to him. He kissed her lips briefly before he pulled away from her and began kissing her neck softly. She closed her eyes and moaned as she felt him running his lips up her long neck.
“
I love you so much, Taylor Ericson,” she whispered as he kissed her. He pulled away from her and turned around, before he gently laid her down on the couch.
“
I love you so much more, Desiree Young,” Taylor said as he looked down at her. She smiled up at him as he began undoing the buttons on her pants. She raised her hips as he began pulling them off leaving her in nothing but the black lace panties she had on. “We have to take everything off,” he said in a husky voice before he lowered his head and pulled her panties down with his teeth. She smiled as she watched him undressing slowly, almost as if he was trying to tease her. When he got his last garment off, he got on the couch and settled himself in between her legs. She ran her fingers down his spine as he kissed her once more. “You need not worry about me,” he said as he looked at her.
“
But I can’t help it. Worrying about you comes naturally,” she said in a warm voice. He smiled and kissed her again as he positioned his cock at her opening with one hand.
“
Trust me Dee, I always have your best interests at heart,” he said before he suddenly thrust forward, forcing the head of his cock into her pussy. She wrapped her arms around his broad shoulders and intertwined her legs around his waist pulling him deeper. As she lay under him, her eyes closed and his cock so deep inside her, she could not help feeling lucky. He might have kept a secret from him, but she was happy everything was sorted out now.
“
Okay let me get this straight. You practically sprinted out of here baying for Taylor’s blood because of cage fighting and now you are telling me that you are all for the idea? Seriously?” Rochelle asked as she looked at her sister in disbelief. Desiree had just told them that she had talked out the whole issue and that there was no more misunderstanding. After her talk with Taylor, she had decided to stay indoors just to make sure that they were making up for lost time. It was not until two days later, when she came back home, and, even then, she had no chance to talk to her sister and cousin, as Rochelle was having her own sleepover with Tony, and Cynthia was far too busy at the café. Actually, all three had not had a proper sit down in well over a week. Today, a Thursday, Desiree had just walked into the house after a long shift and Rochelle was packing up to go for yet another sleepover at Tony’s.
“
Well, I may have been a bit too hasty in making the decision to go bite his head off,” Desiree said uncomfortably as she pushed a stray strand of her hair off her face.
“
And so you just went there and kissed and made up?” Rochelle asked as she zipped up her night bag.
“
Well, in a manner of speaking. But there was a lot of talking and explanation to be done before the making up, really,” Desiree said blushing.
“
Really, sister. Spare me the details,” Rochelle said frowning. Desiree laughed and shrugged.
“
What? Sometimes, it feels nice knowing that the good guys won in the end,” she said as she walked to the kitchen.
“
Good guys?” Rochelle asked as she looked at Desiree. “So, does that make Taylor the Hannibal Lecter in this relationship?” she asked as her sister looked into the fridge.
“
Not literally…actually not at all. It’s just word play,” Desiree said as she took out a slice of leftover pizza. She looked over her shoulder and smiled before she put the slice in the microwave. “Kind of how you sometimes call Tony your own Napoleon,” she said. Rochelle looked up.
“
How did you know about that name?” she asked as her cheeks flushed a bright crimson.
“
Well, you and Tony have a lot of sleepovers and the walls are not as thick as you might think,” Desiree said, with a knowing grin. “So, what does that even mean anyway? Is he like a small man or something? No pun intended of course,” she said trying hard no to smile.
“
First of all, Tony is larger than average and secondly, I do not call him my Napoleon I say I want to make him
my
Napoleon, you know, do what I want in the bedroom and we shall never talk of this again,” Rochelle said. Desiree laughed as she took the slice out of the microwave. She put it in the counter and then took two glasses from the dish rack before she went back to the fridge and took out some orange juice.
“
So, I have to ask,” Desiree said as she poured the juice into the glasses.
“
What?” Rochelle said as she walked towards her.
“
Larger than average?” Desiree asked. Rochelle rolled her eyes as she took one of the glasses and took a long sip.
“
Well, yeah, like a policeman’s night-stick and, I have to say, that I feel really strange talking about this with you,” she said before taking another sip. Desiree smiled and took a bite of her pizza before taking a long sip of the cold juice.
“
What? I have to know my little sister is happy,” she said in- #between bites. Rochelle smiled at her and shrugged.
“
If the walls are indeed as thin as you say, then I am pretty sure you know quite well just how happy Tony makes me,” she said as she lifted her glass. Desiree smiled and raised her own glass.
“
Here’s to you,” she said before taking a long sip. Just then they heard the front door. A tired Cynthia walked to the kitchen and gave them a sad smile. “You look awful,” Desiree said as she gave her own juice to her cousin.
“
Try running a café, doing the books and still waiting tables and you will know exactly what awful feels like,” Cynthia said before she downed the contents of the glass in big gulps. Desiree raised an eyebrow and smiled.
“
Awful, and thirsty,” she said.
“
Don’t get me started,” Cynthia said as her eyes dropped to the half-eaten pizza slice. “Are you going to eat that?” she asked. Desiree pushed the plate towards her cousin who devoured it almost immediately.
“
You would think that a person who owns and runs a diner would come home fed,” Rochelle said.
“
Well, things are different when you are on your toes all day,” Cynthia said before she took one last bite. “So, I haven’t seen any of you in a while. Sometimes I wonder if I have roommates at all,” she added.
“
Well, I have been having some quality time with my boyfriend, while my sister here has been playing house with her boyfriend,” Rochelle said. Cynthia looked at her and then at Desiree.
“
Wait, last time I saw you, I think a week ago, you were so pissed off with Taylor over the fighting thing,” she said. Desiree shrugged and nodded.
“
Yes, but everything is fine now,” she said. “We talked it through,” she added.
“
And what did you guys decide about the whole situation?” Cynthia asked. Rochelle turned and looked at her sister.
“
Yes, you never really told me if this twisted fairy tale has any kind of happy ending,” she said.
“
Well, he assured me that the entire thing is safe and that he is going to be okay. What with his karate and all. So, secure in the knowledge of his physical prowess, I can sleep better now,” Desiree said.
“
Wait, Taylor’s a secret Steven Seagal??” Cynthia asked surprised.
“
Yeah, it was a surprise to me too. He has a black belt, you know,” Desiree said.
“
Wow, that guy is just full of surprises. Just when you think you’ve got a handle on him, and something else comes up,” Cynthia said.
“
Yeah, I know right? But I’m okay so long as he is fine. And that is partly why I chose to stay over this week. To make sure he was fine and he has been okay every single day, even though he is now doing one fight a day,” Desiree said.
“
Such is the high price you must pay when in a committed relationship, eh?” Rochelle said.
“
So, that is what has been going on with me, I’ve now updated you as much as I can, but what about you, Cynthia? Last time I saw you, you were still swooning over Pete,” Desiree said. Cynthia’s cheeks flushed a bright crimson when Desiree said that.
“
What do you mean?” Cynthia asked trying hard to avoid eye contact by looking down on the already empty plate.
“
Oh come on, cuz. We all noticed you and Pete whispering sweet nothings to you in that strange accent of his during my birthday dinner,” Rochelle said.
“
You may have read too much into all that,” Cynthia said. A smile played on Desiree’s lips.
“
Why are you so scared to tell us the truth? Or is it that you are lying to yourself?” Desiree asked.
“
Yeah, cuz. You are acting really weird, but, to be honest, I have seen you in love and I can tell that you are on your way there. And fast,” Rochelle said. Cynthia smiled and shrugged.
“
I just don’t want to put a big wager on it,” she said.
“
What is this? A football game? Come on Cynthia. This is your life,” Rochelle said.
“
Yeah and Pete seems like a decent guy too,” Desiree said.
“
I guess Merseyside beats Uncle Sam any given day,” Cynthia said, with a satisfied smile.
“
And that is just another feather in his cap. I don’t know about you, but this guy is looking better to me every single day,” Rochelle said.
“
Yeah, I heard you saying that if you were not with Tony you would have been with Pete,” Cynthia said.
“
Have you heard his accent? That man can make any woman’s panties drop just by asking for directions,” Rochelle said.
“
Oh yeah. A few years ago, he would have asked me Hey chuck, can I take you back to my place and give you a spanking,” Desiree said in a fair approximation of Pete’s dreamy Liverpudlian tones. “Trust me, back then, that line out of Pete and voila, Bob’s your uncle,” she added smiling.
“
So you guys really think I should give this a chance?” Cynthia asked.
“
Well, honey, it is your life,” Rochelle said.
“
Rochelle’s right. But you have been taken a really long time taking care of us, and now it is about time someone took care of you,” Desiree said.
“
Maybe I am just scared to give in to my emotions and be drawn into the cycle of disappointment again,” Cynthia said.
“
Yes, but you can’t keep your life on hold because you are scared. That is no way to live,” Rochelle said sternly.
“
True ’dat. Look at me, if I had my past to go by I would most definitely have been alone because I would be scared of getting hurt again and Rochelle here has had the longest string of casual relationships I know,” Desiree said.
“
Hey ,” Rochelle said trying to defend herself.
“
And now she is finally settled down with Tony. And who knows, he might actually make an honest woman out of her,” Desiree went on, ignoring her sister’s attempts at protestation. Cynthia smiled and shrugged.
“
You were a bit wild Rochelle. You have really turned over a leaf with Tony,” Cynthia said. “You were a serial dater at some point. And we all know that it was because of your experience with Mike,” she added. Rochelle rolled her eyes.
“
Yes I know and please let bygones be bygones. Mike was an damn two-bit drunken asshole who almost ruined me, but now I guess everything is different,” she said smiling.
“
Mh hm, said the girl in love,” Desiree said. Rochelle giggled just as Cynthia’s phone began ringing. She looked at the phone and then looked up at her cousins. “It’s him, isn’t it?” Desiree asked. Cynthia nodded and walked out of the kitchen to go answer the phone in private. “So, what are your plans for tonight?” Desiree asked as she rubbed her neck.
“
Well, nothing major. Just hooking up with Tony later go to his place to have pizza and a movie. You know, good old fashioned romance,” Rochelle said. “Why? Did you have something in mind?” she asked.
“
No, I just really feel bad that I haven’t got to spend enough time with you guys this week,” she said. Rochelle smiled.
“
How about Sunday dinner? For everyone,” she asked. Desiree smiled and nodded.
“
I’d like that,” she said as she walked the dishes to the sink.
“
By the way, Dee, I wanted to talk to you about something,” Rochelle said. Desiree turned around and leaned against the sink.
“
Okay, what happened, and whose fault was it?” she asked.
“
Hey, those days are gone. This is an actual serious, grown-up issue,” Rochelle said.
“
Why do those words make me feel worse rather than calm me down?” Desiree asked frowning.
“
Relax, it is actually about me working. Since I am through with college, I would like a part time gig as I wait for my internship to come through. I was wondering if you could hook me up with something at the store?” Rochelle asked. Desiree looked at her and smiled proudly.
“
Of course. But why didn’t you ask Tony? I’m sure the pay would have been so much better than working in a retail store,” she said.
“
Yeah, I don’t really want to be one of those women who just sponges off their boyfriend like a remora fish to a shark. I have already told Tony I don’t want to be an intern at his firm,” Rochelle said.
“
Wow, who are you and what have you done to my sister?” Desiree asked smiling.
“
I just want to be a self-made woman, Dee. That’s all,” Rochelle said shrugging.
“
Well, I couldn’t be prouder of you. And yes, I will try and pull some strings and see what can happen. I hope you are fine with stacking shelves?” Desiree asked. “Because that’s the best I can do on short notice until I gets something else,” she said. Rochelle smiled gleefully.
“
Perfect,” she said.
“
Twelve fifty an hour,” Desiree said. Rochelle nodded.
“
Perfect,” she said just as her phone rang.
“
Looks like I will be the only one in the apartment today at this rate,” Desiree said under her breath as she walked out of the kitchen to her bedroom. All she could think of doing was staying home, preferably in bed, and watching endless TV. When she got to her room, she took off her work clothes and put on some comfortable slacks and a t-shirt. She held her hair up in a ponytail and placed her earnings neatly in the dresser drawer. When she was officially ready for bed, she got inside the covers and took her computer and switched it on. She had no idea what she had in mind.
“Legal….Suits…Good Wife…Medical…Nurse Jackie…oh, Grey’s Anatomy,”
she smiled as she clicked on the Grey’s Anatomy tab. “
Have I missed out on three weeks already? Shit,”
she thought as she loaded the three episodes onto the player, silently thanking God that no one had given her any spoilers.
“And they are the most important shows, yet. The finale…Show me what you got Meredith Grey,”
she thought as a smile played on her lips, her eyes fixated on the screen. She did not know how long she had been watching the show when she heard a soft knock on her door. She paused the player and looked up. “Come in,” she called. “Oh, hi guys. What’s up?” she asked when Cynthia and Rochelle walked into her room.
