“He’s alive. A bit charbroiled, but alive.”

“Dude, I didn’t think you could get any uglier, but dayum. You are one ugly motherfuc—”

“Look out!” Aislinn yelled. Another mob of men came at them. There were at least thirty rushing them all with guns. Shots were fired, ricocheting off the walls in all directions. Jex grabbed Aislinn and tucked her behind him.

“Drakk! Get down!” He didn’t wait for Drakk to move. Thankfully, they had fought long enough he knew what to expect and dodged out of the way just in time. Jex unleashed a magic flame that burned so hot it was blue. Men melted like candles, despite their supposed fire resistant shields. No match for the dragons. When nothing was left but piles of ash, he withdrew the flame back into his chest, as he stood panting.

Using such a drastic power had drained him. He leaned against the wall in exhaustion. Drakk ran over and touched him, rejuvenating his strength in a split second. It wouldn’t last long, so they needed to move. “Jex, take Aislinn now!” He ran over, snatched up the burnt Langston, and fled, clearing the path with open flame to any poor fool who got in the way. He didn’t stop only yelling as he passed by Brak at the entrance to tell him to stay and give coverage for the others. Not long after he was back at their meeting point.

Jex made it back just in the nick of time. Langston had been tied up and gagged, and thanks to the severity of his burns, didn’t put up much of a fight. “Where are the others?” Jex listened, not hearing any movement or sounds. He looked down, noticing the blood that had stained Aislinn’s shirt. “Fuck what happened!” He reached for her, holding her against him as he and Drakk ripped the sleeve off and examined the torn flesh underneath, except there was only a small scratch.

“What the hell?” Drakk looked up at her and she smiled.

“Funny thing about magic…it can do all kinds of neat tricks.” She winked. Both of them started to go over her, checking for any injuries anyway. She pulled away and sighed. “I’m fine. Now, what of the others?” Reluctantly, they drew their attention back to their missing family.

“I don’t know. Brak stayed but they should be back by now,” Drakk said, concerned. “I’m going to check on them. Jex, you stay here with Aislinn.”

“No. You can’t go over the mountain and check on Joslin and Dag. Plus go hunt Gandore and Peyton. I’ll go back in the warehouse, since you can get to the mountain faster than I can. Drop me off at the gate and I’ll go from there.”

“No! Aislinn—”

“Don’t argue! Brak is there and we don’t have much time, now give me a ride!”

“I’ll give you a ride, baby,” Jex joked.

“Shut up!” Drakk and Aislinn said in unison. Before Drakk had a chance to argue, Aislinn had grabbed a handful of his long mane and yanked, making his head lower.

“Ouch!” he yelled. She tugged harder until he hoisted her up. Her little feet spurred him in the side of the neck.

“I’m not a horse, woman!”

“No, you’re a jackass, now move!” Drakk growled but did as she commanded and flew her to the gates. Before he landed, she hopped off, dropping a few feet to the ground with a thud.

“Are you sure you—”

“Yes! Brak will help me. Now go!” she yelled. He let out a huff but turned and disappeared into the night air.

Aislinn quietly slipped through the gate, staying alert to her surroundings. It was eerily quiet. She knew they had taken out the majority of people, but there was still the possibility of more who had hidden and could come at her at any given minute. She worried more about them capturing her and using her to get to her dragons more than any harm they might bring to her. She was still new to her powers, and the few tricks she knew were limited.

She passed by Brak, "Stay and cover me, we need to round up the others. And don't look at me like that, I can handle myself, I need to find Gandore and Peyon." Not waiting on him to reply she continued to move, turning down a corridor.

The faint sound of laughter could be heard echoing off the walls as she tiptoed down the hall in the direction Gandore and Peyon had went. She followed the sound, winding around into a room she hadn’t noticed before in her vision.

Aislinn stopped just outside the door to listen. There were six different voices, all full of amusement.

“That stupid whore. She would have brought some big profit if not for those damn overgrown lizards. It was only a matter of time before Langston got caught anyway.”

“Yeah, talk about luck. Hell, the dumb bastard was prepping her for surgery. If they were just a couple hours later, they could have carried its remains out in zip lock baggies,” a second deeper voice rumbled.

“He was stupid. The money he made won’t come close to the fat bank accounts we’ll all be sitting on when we take control. Finally the world will be run by the elite. Hitler had the right idea but was too stupid to make it happen.” He laughed. “Do you think what that old bat said was true?”

“Hell, I doubt it. She’s older than dirt. She couldn’t even keep control of that damn eye of hers. That shit was freaky man. I couldn’t tell who the bitch was looking at. One eye was on me, the other was looking off to the left all crazy like. Looked like a damn chameleon,” another man added.

“She was right about the dragons, except about their strength. That bitch didn’t stand a chance. We are going to have fun hunting down every last one of them. They don’t put up much of a fight,” a whiney voice laughed.

“Hell, it’s no wonder they need more than one to be worth a shit. Even then they’re no match for us. I’m ready to go hunt some fuckin’ lizards.”

“So what do we tell them about what went down here tonight? I damn sure ain’t taking the rap for this shit. Hell, the stupid fucks don’t realize they did us a favor. Less bodies for us to deal with.”

“Nothing. Let them think we carried out our mission as planned. The faster we can stop the trios from mating, the faster the new world order can be created. Whether that stupid old witch was right or not, I want the dragons to be nothing more than the legends people think they are. If they find out about the secret spells, we will have a whole new problem on our hands.”

Aislinn tried to make sense of what she was hearing. Trios? She had read in the grimoires that the key to unlocking the worlds and prospering over the governmental takeover would be in the matings of dragons, but didn’t realize that it would be in threes. From what Drakk and the others had said, they were the first of their kind known to share a mate successfully, given the only other known trio had died before they joined in mating. So, if what these goons were speaking was true, all of them needed to find their trio before the government could be stopped, or before they were murdered. They had to find them before the government did. Acid boiled up in her throat, burning. She choked it down, needing to find out as much as she could from these assholes before she killed them.

“We have a lead on the whereabouts of more dragons. As long as we get to them before they find out they are meant to mate in groupings of three, their powers won’t be strong enough to stop us.”

“I’m thinking I might have one mounted to hang over the fireplace mantle. The gold one might look fancy, don’t you think?” Aislinn had to slap her hand over her mouth to prevent barging in and ripping the son of a bitch’s tongue out.

“Or the red and black, it’ll go with your black leather couches. Hell, there is enough of them you can have one of each color. Your wife can go for a medieval theme.” They cackled.

“Better yet, I want a whole one mounted to put in the yard. Can you imagine pulling up to my house and seeing a huge ass dragon? The little yard gnomes can run in terror. Toss in a fake castle and make a moat and it’ll be one bad ass yard display.”

“Hell yeah! Come Christmas, get some red and yellow lights and make them look like there is fire coming out of its mouth. Add a red nose and Rudolph has a whole new look!” Their corny words were enough to send Aislinn over the edge.

She slipped through the partly ajar doorway and came face to face with a group of soldiers clad in full camo and battle gear. They didn’t notice her at first, too caught up in themselves.

“I say you go fuck yourselves and burn in hell!” They all turned and looked startled. She clasped her hands together, opening them to reveal glowing electricity that she cast at them in one huge push. Aislinn unleashed a magic she hadn’t ever felt before. Fueled no doubt by the anger their words caused. When the force hit them, they jerked and trembled, screaming. As she electrocuted them, they began to burn from the inside out. The fire seared through their skin, melting the flesh to their clothing before finally their entire being burst into flames. Only one remaining person came running, hearing their horrific pleas for help, and Aislinn didn’t even turn around before she cast the same surge backwards to him with a single spread of her fingers. When there was nothing left but the strong stench of burning flesh and their weapons, which had partially melted to the floor, she spoke, “Nobody threatens my family,” as she stepped over what was left in a mess and walked out the door.

Drakk headed over the mountain, hating himself for leaving Aislinn to hunt for Gandore and Peyon. Even though in his heart he knew Brak would guard her with his life. He wanted to be her protector—needed to be.

"Drakk, looking for me," Dag replied.

"Where is Joslin?"

"Not sure, hadn't run into her since we headed off a bunch trying to escape out the two entrances and pushed them back inside," Dag looked around the area as they continued to fly.

"Let's head back to the entrance. I left Aislinn to find Gandore and Peyon with Brak as lookout, maybe Joslin ran into them."

"Are we clear around here?" Dag asked.

"Sure are," Xavier replied, joining the two dragons. "I caught a couple trying to escape after I watched Joslin enter the backside. Wily little humans. I almost worked up a sweat before I found the tree they tried to hide behind. Dragon with fire and you hide behind wood," Xavier began chuckling and shaking his huge emerald head.

Drakk and Dag joined in as they circled around, landing where Drakk had dropped off Aislinn. Brak, Gandore, and Peyon were just coming out of the building when they arrived.

"Find anything?" Drakk asked.

"Not much, we can talk about when we get back," Gandore answered.

"Where is everyone else?" Peyon asked, looking around.

"Left Jex back with Langston, then brought Aislinn to hunt for you two while I went for Dag and Joslin. Only found Dag. "Where is Aislinn, Brak?" Drakk paused in explanation to ask.

"Your little woman is going to be the death of us all. She breezed in, informed me to stand guard and kept walking, not even giving me a chance to reply," Brak frowned, then smiled at Drakk, "She is worthy as a mate to an alpha, Drakk. Do not let her get away, she is our future on this Earth."

"Yes she is, my brother, and will make sure never to let that happen," Drakk answered before continuing, "Joslin went in the entrance in the back so here we are. We were just getting ready to go in when you two walked out with Brak," just as Drakk finished speaking, they heard a scream. The five dragons ran back toward the door.

Joslin heard screams and took off running to find the source. When a group of men had attempted to alarm the others of their presence, she and Dag had entered the compound through the back escape routes and shooed them all back inside before killing every last one of them. What she hadn’t expected to find was one pissed off Aislinn who projected enough magic it had knocked her backwards down the hall. Even never having met a witch other than through the tales of her mother, she imagined the most powerful of witches over the years would pale in comparison to what she had felt from this little human.

More unsettling was the information she had overheard. If they were destined to mate in trios, what did that mean for her? She was in a way related to all of the dragons that walked the Earth. Granted, there were was rumor that other bloodlines existed in a parallel universe, but so far she had no proof the portal would ever be opened, or could open. So what did that leave her? She had dreamt long ago of a family and hatchlings of her own but since given up on the notion of a once young dragon until this clan of her kind had appeared. Could there be more, some who weren’t related to her? Joslin didn’t want to think about it. It was too much.

When Aislinn walked out, Joslin grinned at her. “Impressive. Think we got the guys beat?”

“I’ve got seven. You?”

“Eighteen. Hell yeah we kicked ass! I can’t wait to see Peyon in an apron.” The girls laughed, casually walking out together as if there wasn’t a wake of dead bodies behind them and when they exited, they ran into a wall of dragons.

Catching her in his claws before she fell backwards, Drakk picked Aislinn up placing on his back. "We heard a scream," Drakk spoke as Aislinn positioned herself on his neck.

"Wasn't ours," she said, looking over at Joslin. They both burst out laughing as the men shook their heads.

"Everyone ready?" Drakk asked. Everyone answered 'yes' as the six dragons and one little human woman to took the air.

Chapter Fifteen

Three days had passed in which the group had remained secluded in the caves without leaving. They weren’t allowed to leave for another few days until Gandore made sure no one was tracking them.

They had talked and raged together, working out the anger as a family. Now, finally, Aislinn was having a night alone with her men. Her heroes, she was amazed they continually wanted to save the world, even though the assholes wanted them dead, and no one thanked them for a damn thing they did. For that, they deserved a little TLC.

Aislinn planned for a nice relaxing night for her men. After dinner, she led them into the bedroom and grinned at them. “Why don’t you two have a seat on the bed?”

Drakk and Jex obeyed, causing her ass to clench in delightful, anticipation of the thrill of having a cock in her ass and a cock in her pussy. It had only been a few days but it felt like a lifetime, she needed their connection.
