Authors: Robert Storey
Stratigraphy
– Geological study of rock layers / strata, which can be used to date objects found within.
Radiocarbon dating
– A scientific procedure whereby the material from dead organisms is analysed to determine when it lived. Also known as carbon dating, or carbon-14 dating.
Crossmatch radiocarbon dating
– A powerful scientific technique utilised by archaeologists to date the material of deceased organisms. Developed by the Chinese in the second quarter of the twenty-first century, crossmatch radiocarbon dating extended the seventy-five thousand year limitation of normal radiocarbon dating to seven hundred and fifty thousand years. Combining the fields of carbon dating, stratigraphy, big data, quantum modelling and molecular retracing, the technique is able to peer further back in time than was previously thought possible.
Molecular retracing
– A scientific process whereby molecular decay (and in some instances, movement) is recorded by a special high resolution imager and then recreated in a computer simulator, before the process is reversed beyond recorded data to give a snapshot of the material’s past.
