Nathaniel stuffed a wad of twenties in
Drew’s shirt pocket. “Both of you go, and take Isaiah with you. From now on I
don’t want you around Hannah’s friends, Drew.”

“Thank you.” Drew said gratefully. He
was beginning to regain his composure as he turned to Noah with a smug
expression. “I’ll see you later, Noah.”

Justin and Drew walked out of the
kitchen just as Lydia was coming in. They were both careful to avoid brushing
up against her as they passed by.

Her hands were on her hips, and she was
scowling. “Hannah is wondering where you are. Everyone else is in the living
room celebrating her birthday with her.”

“We were just giving her a chance to
visit with her other guests.” Nathaniel explained calmly. He smiled at Lydia, but
she didn’t smile back. Her eyes moved to Noah.

“Hannah’s going to start opening her
presents, with or without you.”

“We’ll be right there, Lyd,” Noah said
quietly.

Lydia smiled at Noah, and then walked
out of the room.

“Are you okay?” Nathaniel asked Noah.

Noah nodded and walked back into the
living room with Nathaniel right behind him.

Chapter Fifteen

The party was even better than Hannah
could have hoped for. It was the perfect evening. She’d been a little surprised
when Nathaniel’s cousins had suddenly left, but she didn’t really know any of
them that well so it hadn’t bothered her.

After the party, Nathaniel stayed to
help Hannah clean up. Mostly he just lingered. The fact that he was still there
obviously annoyed Lydia. That was probably why Trish and Caitlin convinced
Lydia to go out with them.

As soon as they left, Hannah sighed and
slumped down on the couch.

Nathaniel looked around their living
room. “Has anyone ever told you that your condo looks like a garden center?”

“Lydia really likes plants,” Hannah
explained. “I’m surprised you never mentioned them before. We even have three
Earth boxes and a pot with her favorite coral Drift Rose bush out on the patio.
Lydia will bring the Drift Rose bush inside soon, because she says it doesn’t
like the cold.”

“I don’t remember the plants looking so
alive. They’re practically taking over the room.”

“They haven’t been this lush in a few
weeks. When Lydia’s mood improved, the plants perked up too,” Hannah said with
a smile. “It’s been nice to see Lydia feeling better. She really hasn’t handled
the break up with Dominic well. I was glad he wasn’t invited to the party.”

Nathaniel paused, and seemed confused. “He’s
been visiting his mother so he hasn’t been home in more than a week. Honestly,
I had forgotten about them dating. It was only for a few days.”

Hannah didn’t really want to talk about
Lydia’s obsession with Dominic. She stood again, and started to remove
streamers. Then she felt him behind her, the warmth of his body, and his hands
on her shoulders as they turned her to face him. A shiver went through her as
his arms wrapped around her. Then his lips covered hers. She was disappointed
when he barely kissed her.

His mouth was so close that she felt his
warm breath caress her lips as he spoke. “I have one more gift for you.”

“I want you,” she said. When he started
to pull away, she grabbed his shirt. “Why do you keep pulling away when I say
that?”

“I want our first time to be perfect,”
he explained patiently.

“It will be perfect,” Hannah assured him.
“It’s my birthday, and what I want most is you inside of me.”

Nathaniel sucked in a sharp breath. “I
don’t have any protection.” He backed away slightly.

“I can get it from Lydia’s room. She
won’t mind.”

“Hannah.” Her name was barely a whisper.

She could tell that he was going to pull
away from her again. “Is there something wrong with me?” she asked, feeling a
little self-conscious.

He looked stunned by her question. “There
is nothing wrong with you.” With that he pressed his body against hers, letting
her feel just how aroused he was. He was hard and long enough that she was a
little nervous, but mostly she was very excited. Then his mouth was on hers
again. This time he wasn’t holding back. He cupped her breast with one hand,
and kissed along her jaw line.

Hannah groaned and tugged at his hair.
He laughed and grabbed both of her wrists in one of his hands. With his other
hand he massaged her breast through her shirt, and sucked gently at her pulse
on her neck.

He pulled back to look into her eyes. “Are
you sure?”

“Yes,” she said in a breathy whisper.

He scooped her up in his arms and
carried her to the bedroom. “Condoms?” he asked after laying her gently on the
bed.

“I’ll get them.” She raced into Lydia’s
room, and came back with a condom package. Nathaniel had removed his shirt to
reveal his well muscled chest. He took the condom from her hand and tossed it
on the bedside table. Then he quickly lifted her shirt over her head.

Nathaniel stared at her, taking in every
detail, before guiding her down onto the bed beneath him. He settled himself
between her legs, and groaned. “I don’t know how long I can wait,” he said. It
was both an apology and a plea.

Hannah undid the hook on the front of
her bra, suddenly very happy that she had let Caitlin talk her into that
purchase.

Nathaniel’s eyes widened at the sight of
her breasts. His breathing became ragged. “They’re even more perfect than I
imagined.”

“You’ve imagined my breasts?” she asked.

“Yes. I’ve imagined seeing them,
touching them, tasting them.” He leaned down slowly and took one nipple into
his mouth. He gently sucked it, teasing it with his tongue. Hannah grabbed at
his hair again.

He leaned up and gave a husky laugh. “What
is it with you and pulling my hair? Do I need to tie you to the bed?”

Hannah let out an involuntary moan, and
his smile grew wider. “You like the sound of that, don’t you?”

Her cheeks flushed slightly, but she
nodded.

“Maybe next time,” he said playfully. “Tonight
I’m going to make love to you.”

He kissed his way down her body. When he
reached her pants he quickly removed them, and her panties. His torturous path
down her body continued. He kissed along her hip bones, and then moved ever so
close to her oversensitive clit. She sucked in a breath, waiting for him to
touch her there, but he merely blew hot air on her. She arched her back and
whimpered. His mouth moved on to her thighs, slowly torturing her. He
discovered a previously unknown erogenous zone at the back of her knees.

“Please,” her voice was a raspy whisper.
She wasn’t sure what she was begging for. The feeling of his tongue between her
legs made her shiver. Her eyes rolled back in her head as her desire escalated.
She almost screamed out when she felt his tongue inside of her. He flicked her
clit with his tongue one last time and she felt spasms rip through her body.
She tugged at his hair yet again. “I want you in me now!”

He stood up to remove his pants and
boxer shorts. She stared for a long moment as he stood before her. The slow
smile that spread across his handsome face proved that he knew the effect he
was having on her body. He turned his back to her, and opened the condom. Her
arousal kept her distracted enough that she didn’t notice him using the sharp
corner of his ring to make a small tear in the condom just before he put it on.

As he slowly slid into her, Nathaniel
kissed her tenderly. It was his turn to moan. When her hips began to wiggle, he
growled, “Hold still for a minute!”

Holding still was the last thing on
Hannah’s mind. All she could think about was moving. When Nathaniel finally
moved, it was excruciatingly slow. His promise had been to make love to her,
and that is exactly what he did. His body worshiped hers. He whispered
endearments as he moved in and out of her body. Finally, Hannah climaxed again
and Nathaniel’s followed almost immediately.

He rolled onto his back, and worked hard
to get his breathing under control.

Hannah felt his heart beating hard. A
contented sigh escaped her lips.

“That was incredible,” she said
wistfully.

“Then marry me.”

Hannah sat up quickly, with a look of
near panic on her face. Then she relaxed. “For a minute I thought you were
serious about getting married.” She laughed nervously, and then became serious
again when she saw the sincerity in Nathaniel's eyes. “You aren’t kidding, are
you?”

He climbed out of bed, dropped the
condom in the bedside trash, slipped on his boxer shorts, and removed a jewelry
box from the pocket of his jacket. On one knee he opened the box.

Hannah stared at the ring inside of the
box.

“I wanted to ask you right after the
party, but things got out of hand.” His free hand gestured to the clothing
strewn about the room. “Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”

Unable to utter a word, Hannah stared at
the ring.

Nathaniel continued. “I realize that
we’ve only known each other for a short time, but it’s long enough to know that
we’re perfect for each other. I want you with me always.”

She continued to stare at the stones on
the ring, several blood red rubies surrounded a very large diamond. There was a
long moment of silence while reality set in.

“I don’t know what to say. I’m not sure
we’re ready for marriage.”

He tried to mask his disappointment.
This was not the response he had expected. She knelt before him, and wrapped
her arms around him.

She stood up, guiding him with her. “Would
you mind if I take some time before giving you an answer?”

Nathaniel pushed her hair back from her
face and kissed her on the forehead. With a reassuring smile, he set the ring
on the night stand. “Of course, you can take as much time as you need. I’ll
wait for you. I should go before your cousin gets back.”

An odd mixture of disappointment and
relief assaulted Hannah. How was it that she wanted Nathaniel to stay, and go
at the same time?

She felt even more confused when she
realized how much she wanted to call Noah to ask for his advice.

Chapter Sixteen

Drew opened the door slowly, and
surveyed the front room to make sure no one would see them. Satisfied that they
could enter the house without being caught, he turned back to Isaiah and the
young woman they had met at the club.

“I don’t think anyone’s home, but we
should be quiet just in case I’m wrong,” Drew said to Isaiah. “The last thing I
want is for Nathaniel to jump down my throat for bringing her back here.”

Isaiah nodded and slipped his arm around
the woman’s waist, almost lifting her up the front steps. He felt a rush of
anticipation as he looked down at her. Her skin was like porcelain, and she had
big brown eyes with thick eyelashes. She looked like a doll, with her tiny
heart-shaped face, high cheek bones, and button nose. He thought her hair
should have been brown with ringlet curls to complete the look. Instead it was
an unnatural shade of red, and cut extremely short. Even in her high heel
shoes, the top of her head didn’t reach his shoulders. Her name was Mary. They
had both been instantly drawn to her.

There was no doubt in his mind that Drew
would have settled for less desirable prey if perfection had not been so
attainable. Drew felt no attachment to his hosts. It was rare that he was even
attracted to a human. He loved to play the part of the flirt, but in reality,
Drew considered humans beneath him. That was common among their kind. Isaiah’s
own brother, Justin, always said he’d rather jerk off than stick it in a human.

Isaiah loved humans! They gave him life.
He’d never had a host that he wasn’t sexually attracted to. He kept mementos
from some of the special ones. He was the first to admit that it sounded
creepy, but he didn’t care.

Mary’s head rested against his chest,
and he could feel the heat from her cheek through his silk shirt. A violent
wave of arousal crashed into him. He hated sharing her with Drew, but he had to
if he wanted to taste the ambrosia that flowed through her veins. In hindsight,
having his retractable fangs removed had been a mistake. He may not need blood
anymore, but it was still a nice treat.

Drew had spotted her the second they
walked into the club. What had attracted Drew was the hopeless look in her
eyes. She was an easy mark, and he was desperate. Drew was smart enough to know
that Isaiah would be attracted to her, and didn’t want to waste his time
competing for her attention. Drew actually preferred to share his hosts so it
wasn’t really a compromise on his part.

They bought her a few drinks, told her
what a fool her boyfriend was for leaving her, and made her feel wanted. She
was so drunk by the time they invited her back to the house that she couldn’t
even remember their names, but Drew needed to feed tonight. Even if Isaiah had
suggested waiting for another time, Drew would have taken her. Isaiah tried to
make himself feel better by telling himself that at the end of the night he
would give her a compulsion that made her feel good about the break up. He told
himself that he was really doing her a favor. In truth, he didn’t like taking
advantage of the intoxicated. He didn’t even really like using compulsions.

“You have a nice house,” she mumbled. “It’s
a palace.”

Drew scooped her up into his arms and
smiled. “How ‘bout a lift, beautiful?”

“I don’t usually do this sort of thing.”
Her voice was slurred and her head rested against Drew’s chest as he carried
her up the stairs.

Isaiah quickly moved to Drew’s side. “I
know you don’t.” His voice was soothing.

She clung to Drew’s shoulders, burying
her head in his chest like a frightened child.

Drew stopped at the top of the stairs,
and kissed her lightly. “Don’t worry, Mary, we’ll take care of you,” his voice
took on the hypnotic tone that came with compulsion. “You’re safe with us.
We’ll make you feel beautiful again. You want nothing more than to let us make
you feel beautiful again.”

Isaiah opened the door to Drew’s
bedroom. Drew laid her on the bed and kissed her. His tongue slipped past her
lips and probed her mouth.

She pulled away to slip off her
bracelets. “Let me take off my jewelry.”

Drew reached for the chains around her
neck. “I’ll help you with those.”

She caught his hand. “I’ve got it.”

She slipped the chains over her head and
laid them on the night stand with her bracelets, carefully concealing one of
them at the bottom.

She snatched Isaiah’s glasses off and
tossed them aside, then pulled him toward her.

As Isaiah kissed her, he kept one eye
open to watch Drew’s lips move across the back of Mary’s neck. A surge of
anticipation went through Isaiah when he saw Drew’s fangs carefully break the
skin on the side of her neck.

She sucked in a sharp breath, and Isaiah
whispered the compulsion, “You will feel no pain, only pleasure.”

The compulsion worked immediately, and
she moaned as Drew savored her blood for a moment. Drew unzipped her dress,
pushed it over her shoulders, and then moved away from her neck.

Isaiah turned her so that her back was
leaning against his chest, and ran his tongue across the wound on her neck. The
taste of her caused him to shudder with the force of his lust.

Drew opened the front of her bra, and
flicked one of her nipples with his tongue. She closed her eyes and moaned. The
compulsion held, and she didn’t notice when Drew’s fangs punctured her right
nipple.

Isaiah guided her down onto the bed and
laid down by her side.

Drew settled himself between her legs
and punctured a vein in the middle of her thigh. She flinched that time, so he
ran his tongue across the soft folds of skin between her legs causing her to
almost cry out.

Isaiah suckled her bloody breast. The
look of ecstasy on her face was arousing him more with every passing second.

Drew moved up, and broke the skin around
her other nipple for Isaiah so he could alternate between her nipples and her
neck.

He looked down at Drew sucking the wound
on her thigh. Drew’s hands pressed down on her hips. The energy was feeding
though his hands.

Isaiah’s gaze shifted to the wet spot
between her legs. He wanted her.

When Drew finished feeding, he sat in
the chair beside the bed with one leg draped over the arm. Drew liked to watch.

Mary pulled Isaiah’s face toward hers,
and her tongue slipped past his lips. She was weak from Drew’s feeding and he
could tell she wouldn’t be awake much longer. Self-control was no longer
an issue, it was gone, and he had to have her now. He had to claim her in the
most primitive of ways. Drew had fed on the energy, but he would have this.

His hands quickly worked to unfasten his
pants, and then he moved on top of her. From the corner of his eye, he saw
Drew’s smirk as he watched them. He slipped inside of her carefully, letting
out a groan as he felt the tightness of her warm flesh surrounding him. He
hadn’t expected her to be this tight.

He knew he should move slowly, but his
lust was overwhelming him. She tightened around him even more. His fingernails
dug into the pillows and he stifled a scream as he came so hard that he nearly
blacked out. He let his body rest on top of her. His heart beat rapidly, and he
panted. It was like he and Mary were the only people in the room. He wanted to
feel that way for at least a few minutes longer, so he kept his eyes closed to
avoid seeing Drew.

The clapping of Drew’s hands brought him
back to reality, and he opened his eyes to see Drew still seated in the chair
with one leg draped over the arm.

“Way to go, Cuz! I had no idea you were
such a lady killer.”

“Shut up, Drew!” Isaiah hadn’t meant to
shout, but he was angry at Drew for interrupting the moment.

Drew’s smug grin remained in place. “Isaiah
Edward Draksel, keep your voice down or you’ll wake the dead.”

Isaiah lifted his head, and shot Drew a
questioning glance.

Drew motioned to Mary. “Look at her
resting so peacefully. Rest in peace, Mary.”

As soon as Isaiah saw her, he began to
shake his head violently. In an instant he was on his feet, staring down at her
in horror as he fastened his pants. Her eyes were wide, staring off into
nothing. She wasn’t moving, even her chest was still.

“She’s . . . There’s no . . .
I can’t . . .” He was shaking.

With a playful grin, Drew sat on the bed
beside her, checked her pulse, and shook his head. “I believe the word you’re
looking for is dead.” Drew sounded almost bored.

Drew licked the blood from her face, her
neck, her breasts, and finally her thighs, as Isaiah watched in horror. Then
Drew laid on his side between her legs, using her right thigh as a pillow, and
smiled. “Our Mary was quite a girl, wasn’t she?”

Isaiah paced back and forth, still
shaking. “She can’t be dead, not my Mary, not my pretty doll. We have to do
something.”

“You’re absolutely right. You should
take a sedative, and I should take a nap.” Drew’s cheek was still resting
against Mary’s thigh.

“We aren’t supposed to kill anyone!
It’ll bring attention to the family. People will find out what we are and kill
us all!” Isaiah had reached the state of full hysteria. “Justin is a doctor. He
could make her better, but he’s not home.”

“There’s no cure for death, you idiot.”
Drew’s eyes were closed.

“We shouldn’t have brought her back
here!” He looked down at Drew and shouted, “Don’t you dare fall asleep! She’s
not a pillow.”

“She’s a body pillow.” Drew snickered at
his own joke.

“I know what to do. I’ll call an
ambulance. She’s human so she needs a human doctor.”

He pulled his phone out of his pocket, but
Drew quickly jumped to his feet and snatched it from his hand.

“We are not calling an ambulance. The
girl is dead, and there is no reason for anyone to ever know that she was
here.” Drew started to examine her jewelry. “Not bad, this stuff is real.”

With a disgusted snort, Isaiah turned
away. “We have a dead girl in your bed, and you’re going through her jewelry.”

Drew laughed loudly, braced himself on
the night stand, and then sat down on the bed as the laughter continued to pour
out.

“What is so funny?” Isaiah demanded.

Drew stifled his laughter, and held up a
medical alert necklace. “She had a heart condition and didn’t want us to know.
She hid it under the other jewelry. Damn, humans are stupid creatures.” He was
then lost in delirious laughter once more, as Isaiah stared at him in
disbelief. After Drew was able to regain his composure, he stood up, and patted
Isaiah on the back.

“Don’t worry about a thing, lady killer.
We’ll just put our date to bed out in the woods. You get the shovels, and I’ll
get our lovely Mary.”

Isaiah shook his head, and stood between
Drew and Mary’s body. “We can’t just bury her in the woods.”

“Where would you like to bury her? It’s
been fun having her in my bed, but I don’t plan on keeping her here. The fact
is she’s not exactly the life of the party anymore. You don’t want Nathaniel to
come home to a corpse in his house, do you?”

Isaiah walked out mumbling incoherently.

Drew gathered up Mary’s belongings, and
placed them into her purse. He grinned as he put her medical alert necklace
into his pocket. Then he wrapped the purse around her neck, rolled her body up
in his bedspread, and threw her over his shoulder.
