Luke 5:12-28

12
And it came to pass, when he [Jesus] was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on
his
face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

13
 And he put forth
his
hand, and touched him, saying,
I will: be thou clean.
And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
14
 And he charged him to
tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

15
But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
16
And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.

17
And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was
present
to heal them.
18
And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought
means
to bring him in, and to lay
him
before him.
19
And when they could not find by what
way
they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with
his
couch into the midst before Jesus.
20
And when he saw their faith, he said unto him,
Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

21
And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

22
But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them,
What reason ye in your hearts?
23

Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?
24

But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins,
(he said unto the sick of the palsy,)
I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.

25
And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.
26
And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things today.

27
And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him,
Follow me.
28
And he left all, rose up, and followed him.

Psalm 65:1-13

To the chief Musician, A Psalm
and
Song of David.

1
Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed.

2
O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.

3
 Iniquities prevail against me:
as for
our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.

4
 Blessed
is the man whom
thou choosest, and causest to approach
unto thee, that
he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house,
even
of thy holy temple.

5

By
terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation;
who art
the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off
upon
the sea:

6
 Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains;
being
girded with power:

7
Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.

8
They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.

9
Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God,
which
is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it.

10
Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof.

11
Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness.

12
 They drop
upon
the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side.

13
The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing.

Proverbs 11:23

23
 The desire of the righteous
is
only good:
but
the expectation of the wicked
is
wrath.

Numbers 36:1—Deuteronomy 1:46

1
And the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near, and spake before Moses, and before the princes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel:
2
 and they said, The L
ORD
commanded my lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel: and my lord was commanded by the L
ORD
to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother unto his daughters.
3
And if they be married to any of the sons of the
other
tribes of the children of Israel, then shall their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall it be taken from the lot of our inheritance.
4
And when the jubile of the children of Israel shall be, then shall their inheritance be put unto the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.

5
And Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of the L
ORD
, saying, The tribe of the sons of Joseph hath said well.
6
 This
is
the thing which the L
ORD
doth command concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry to whom they think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry.
7
So shall not the inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe: for every one of the children of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.
8
And every daughter, that possesseth an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel, shall be wife unto one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may enjoy every man the inheritance of his fathers.
9
Neither shall the inheritance remove from
one
tribe to another tribe; but every one of the tribes of the children of Israel shall keep himself to his own inheritance.

10
 Even as the L
ORD
commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad:
11
for Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married unto their father's brothers' sons:
12

and
they were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.

13
 These
are
the commandments and the judgments, which the L
ORD
commanded by the hand of Moses unto the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan
near
Jericho.

1:
1
 These
be
the words which Moses spake unto all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain over against the Red
sea,
between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab.
2
 (
There are
eleven days'
journey
from Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto Kadesh-barnea.)
3
And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first
day
of the month,
that
Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the L
ORD
had given him in commandment unto them;
4
after he had slain Sihon the king of the Amorites, which dwelt in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, which dwelt at Astaroth in Edrei.

5
On this side Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to declare this law, saying,
6
 The L
ORD
our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:
7
turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all
the places
nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.
8
Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the L
ORD
sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.

9
And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone:
10
 the L
ORD
your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye
are
this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.
11
 (The L
ORD
God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye
are,
and bless you, as he hath promised you!)
12
How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?
13
Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.
14
And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken
is
good
for us
to do.
15
So I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes.

16
And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear
the causes
between your brethren, and judge righteously between
every
man and his brother, and the stranger
that is
with him.
17
 Ye shall not respect persons in judgment;
but
ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment
is
God's: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring
it
unto me, and I will hear it.
18
And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do.

19
And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the L
ORD
our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-barnea.
20
And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the L
ORD
our God doth give unto us.
21
 Behold, the L
ORD
thy God hath set the land before thee: go up
and
possess
it,
as the L
ORD
God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.

22
And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.

23
And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe:
24
and they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out.
25
And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought
it
down unto us, and brought us word again, and said,
It is
a good land which the L
ORD
our God doth give us.

26
Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the L
ORD
your God:
27
and ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the L
ORD
hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.
28
Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people
is
greater and taller than we; the cities
are
great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.

29
Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.
30
 The L
ORD
your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;
31
and in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the L
ORD
thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.
32
Yet in this thing ye did not believe the L
ORD
your God,
33
who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents
in,
in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.

34
 And the L
ORD
heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying,
35
Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,
36
save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the L
ORD
.
37
 Also the L
ORD
was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither.
38

But
Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

39
Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.
40
 But
as for
you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.

41
Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the L
ORD
, we will go up and fight, according to all that the L
ORD
our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.

42
 And the L
ORD
said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I
am
not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.
43
So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the L
ORD
, and went presumptuously up into the hill.
44
And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir,
even
unto Hormah.
45
And ye returned and wept before the L
ORD
; but the L
ORD
would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.

46
So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode
there.
