Mark 1:1-28

1
 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
2
as it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
3
The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
4
John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
5
And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
6
 And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;
7
and preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.
8
I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

9
And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
10
And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:
11
and there came a voice from heaven,
saying,
Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

12
And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.
13
And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.

14
Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15
 and saying,
The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

16
Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
17
 And Jesus said unto them,
Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
18
And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.

19
And when he had gone a little farther thence, he saw James the
son
of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.
20
And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.

21
And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.
22
And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.

23
And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,
24
 saying, Let
us
alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

25
 And Jesus rebuked him, saying,
Hold thy peace, and come out of him.
26
And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.

27
And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine
is
this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.
28
And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.

Psalm 35:1-16

A Psalm
of David.

1
 Plead
my cause,
O L
ORD
, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.

2
Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.

3
Draw out also the spear, and stop
the way
against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I
am
thy salvation.

4
Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.

5
Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the L
ORD
chase
them.

6
Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the L
ORD
persecute them.

7
For without cause have they hid for me their net
in
a pit,
which
without cause they have digged for my soul.

8
Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.

9
And my soul shall be joyful in the L
ORD
: it shall rejoice in his salvation.

10
All my bones shall say, L
ORD
, who
is
like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?

11
False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge
things
that I knew not.

12
They rewarded me evil for good
to
the spoiling of my soul.

13
But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing
was
sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

14
 I behaved myself as though
he had been
my friend
or
brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth
for his
mother.

15
But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together:
yea,
the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew
it
not; they did tear
me,
and ceased not:

16
With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.

Proverbs 9:11-12

11
For by me [Wisdom] thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

12
If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but
if
thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear
it.

Leviticus 1:1–3:17

1
 And the L
ORD
called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,
2
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the L
ORD
, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle,
even
of the herd, and of the flock.

3
 If his offering
be
a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the L
ORD
.
4
And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him.
5
And he shall kill the bullock before the L
ORD
: and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall bring the blood, and sprinkle the blood round about upon the altar that
is by
the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
6
And he shall flay the burnt offering, and cut it into his pieces.
7
And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire upon the altar, and lay the wood in order upon the fire:
8
and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall lay the parts, the head, and the fat, in order upon the wood that
is
on the fire which
is
upon the altar:
9
but his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: and the priest shall burn all on the altar,
to be
a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the L
ORD
.

10
 And if his offering
be
of the flocks,
namely,
of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt sacrifice; he shall bring it a male without blemish.
11
And he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before the L
ORD
: and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall sprinkle his blood round about upon the altar.
12
And he shall cut it into his pieces, with his head and his fat: and the priest shall lay them in order on the wood that
is
on the fire which
is
upon the altar:
13
but he shall wash the inwards and the legs with water: and the priest shall bring
it
all, and burn
it
upon the altar: it
is
a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the L
ORD
.

14
And if the burnt sacrifice for his offering to the L
ORD
be
of fowls, then he shall bring his offering of turtledoves, or of young pigeons.
15
And the priest shall bring it unto the altar, and wring off his head, and burn
it
on the altar; and the blood thereof shall be wrung out at the side of the altar:
16
and he shall pluck away his crop with his feathers, and cast it beside the altar on the east part, by the place of the ashes:
17
and he shall cleave it with the wings thereof,
but
shall not divide
it
asunder: and the priest shall burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that
is
upon the fire: it
is
a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the L
ORD
.

2:
1
And when any will offer a meat offering unto the L
ORD
, his offering shall be
of
fine flour; and he shall pour oil upon it, and put frankincense thereon:
2
and he shall bring it to Aaron's sons the priests: and he shall take thereout his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof; and the priest shall burn the memorial of it upon the altar,
to be
an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the L
ORD
:
3
and the remnant of the meat offering
shall be
Aaron's and his sons':
it is
a thing most holy of the offerings of the L
ORD
made by fire.

4
And if thou bring an oblation of a meat offering baken in the oven,
it shall be
unleavened cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, or unleavened wafers anointed with oil.
5
 And if thy oblation
be
a meat offering
baken
in a pan, it shall be
of
fine flour unleavened, mingled with oil.
6
Thou shalt part it in pieces, and pour oil thereon: it
is
a meat offering.

7
 And if thy oblation
be
a meat offering
baken
in the fryingpan, it shall be made
of
fine flour with oil.
8
And thou shalt bring the meat offering that is made of these things unto the L
ORD
: and when it is presented unto the priest, he shall bring it unto the altar.
9
And the priest shall take from the meat offering a memorial thereof, and shall burn
it
upon the altar:
it is
an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the L
ORD
.
10
And that which is left of the meat offering
shall be
Aaron's and his sons':
it is
a thing most holy of the offerings of the L
ORD
made by fire.

11
No meat offering, which ye shall bring unto the L
ORD
, shall be made with leaven: for ye shall burn no leaven, nor any honey, in any offering of the L
ORD
made by fire.
12
As for the oblation of the firstfruits, ye shall offer them unto the L
ORD
: but they shall not be burnt on the altar for a sweet savour.
13
And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt.

14
And if thou offer a meat offering of thy firstfruits unto the L
ORD
, thou shalt offer for the meat offering of thy firstfruits green ears of corn dried by the fire,
even
corn beaten out of full ears.
15
And thou shalt put oil upon it, and lay frankincense thereon: it
is
a meat offering.
16
And the priest shall burn the memorial of it,
part
of the beaten corn thereof, and
part
of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof:
it is
an offering made by fire unto the L
ORD
.

3:
1
 And if his oblation
be
a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer
it
of the herd; whether
it be
a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the L
ORD
.
2
And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it
at
the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron's sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.
3
And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire unto the L
ORD
; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that
is
upon the inwards,
4
and the two kidneys, and the fat that
is
on them, which
is
by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.
5
And Aaron's sons shall burn it on the altar upon the burnt sacrifice, which
is
upon the wood that
is
on the fire:
it is
an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the L
ORD
.

6
And if his offering for a sacrifice of peace offering unto the L
ORD
be
of the flock; male or female, he shall offer it without blemish.
7
If he offer a lamb for his offering, then shall he offer it before the L
ORD
.
8
And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron's sons shall sprinkle the blood thereof round about upon the altar.

9
And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire unto the L
ORD
; the fat thereof,
and
the whole rump, it shall he take off hard by the backbone; and the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that
is
upon the inwards,
10
and the two kidneys, and the fat that
is
upon them, which
is
by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.
11
And the priest shall burn it upon the altar:
it is
the food of the offering made by fire unto the L
ORD
.

12
 And if his offering
be
a goat, then he shall offer it before the L
ORD
.
13
And he shall lay his hand upon the head of it, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle the blood thereof upon the altar round about.
14
And he shall offer thereof his offering,
even
an offering made by fire unto the L
ORD
; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that
is
upon the inwards,
15
and the two kidneys, and the fat that
is
upon them, which
is
by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.
16
And the priest shall burn them upon the altar:
it is
the food of the offering made by fire for a sweet savour: all the fat
is
the L
ORD
's.

17

It shall be
a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood.
