1
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2
elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
3
 Blessed
be
the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4
to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5
who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6
Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7
that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8
whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see
him
not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9
receiving the end of your faith,
even
the salvation of
your
souls.
10
Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace
that should come
unto you:
11
searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
12
Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
17
 Deal bountifully with thy servant,
that
I may live, and keep thy word.
18
Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
19
 I
am
a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.
20
My soul breaketh for the longing
that it hath
unto thy judgments at all times.
21
 Thou hast rebuked the proud
that are
cursed, which do err from thy commandments.
22
Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.
23
 Princes also did sit
and
speak against me:
but
thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.
24
 Thy testimonies also
are
my delight
and
my counsellors.
25
My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.
26
I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.
27
Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.
28
My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word.
29
Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.
30
I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid
before me.
31
I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O L
ORD
, put me not to shame.
32
I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.
8
He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.
9
He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer
shall be
abomination.
10
Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good
things
in possession.
13
 This
is
the oblation that ye shall offer; the sixth part of an ephah of an homer of wheat, and ye shall give the sixth part of an ephah of an homer of barley:
14
concerning the ordinance of oil, the bath of oil,
ye shall offer
the tenth part of a bath out of the cor,
which is
an homer of ten baths; for ten baths
are
an homer:
15
and one lamb out of the flock, out of two hundred, out of the fat pastures of Israel; for a meat offering, and for a burnt offering, and for peace offerings, to make reconciliation for them, saith the Lord G
OD
.
16
All the people of the land shall give this oblation for the prince in Israel.
17
And it shall be the prince's part
to give
burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the feasts, and in the new moons, and in the sabbaths, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.
18
 Thus saith the Lord G
OD
; In the first
month,
in the first
day
of the month, thou shalt take a young bullock without blemish, and cleanse the sanctuary:
19
and the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering, and put
it
upon the posts of the house, and upon the four corners of the settle of the altar, and upon the posts of the gate of the inner court.
20
And so thou shalt do the seventh
day
of the month for every one that erreth, and for
him that is
simple: so shall ye reconcile the house.
21
 In the first
month,
in the fourteenth day of the month, ye shall have the passover, a feast of seven days; unleavened bread shall be eaten.
22
And upon that day shall the prince prepare for himself and for all the people of the land a bullock
for
a sin offering.
23
And seven days of the feast he shall prepare a burnt offering to the L
ORD
, seven bullocks and seven rams without blemish daily the seven days; and a kid of the goats daily
for
a sin offering.
24
And he shall prepare a meat offering of an ephah for a bullock, and an ephah for a ram, and an hin of oil for an ephah.
25
 In the seventh
month,
in the fifteenth day of the month, shall he do the like in the feast of the seven days, according to the sin offering, according to the burnt offering, and according to the meat offering, and according to the oil.
46:
1
 Thus saith the Lord G
OD
; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.
2
And the prince shall enter by the way of the porch of
that
gate without, and shall stand by the post of the gate, and the priests shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, and he shall worship at the threshold of the gate: then he shall go forth; but the gate shall not be shut until the evening.
3
Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before the L
ORD
in the sabbaths and in the new moons.
4
And the burnt offering that the prince shall offer unto the L
ORD
in the sabbath day
shall be
six lambs without blemish, and a ram without blemish.
5
 And the meat offering
shall be
an ephah for a ram, and the meat offering for the lambs as he shall be able to give, and an hin of oil to an ephah.
6
And in the day of the new moon
it shall be
a young bullock without blemish, and six lambs, and a ram: they shall be without blemish.
7
And he shall prepare a meat offering, an ephah for a bullock, and an ephah for a ram, and for the lambs according as his hand shall attain unto, and an hin of oil to an ephah.
8
And when the prince shall enter, he shall go in by the way of the porch of
that
gate, and he shall go forth by the way thereof.
9
But when the people of the land shall come before the L
ORD
in the solemn feasts, he that entereth in by the way of the north gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south gate; and he that entereth by the way of the south gate shall go forth by the way of the north gate: he shall not return by the way of the gate whereby he came in, but shall go forth over against it.
10
And the prince in the midst of them, when they go in, shall go in; and when they go forth, shall go forth.
11
And in the feasts and in the solemnities the meat offering shall be an ephah to a bullock, and an ephah to a ram, and to the lambs as he is able to give, and an hin of oil to an ephah.
12
Now when the prince shall prepare a voluntary burnt offering or peace offerings voluntarily unto the L
ORD
,
one
shall then open him the gate that looketh toward the east, and he shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, as he did on the sabbath day: then he shall go forth; and after his going forth
one
shall shut the gate.
13
Thou shalt daily prepare a burnt offering unto the L
ORD
of
a lamb of the first year without blemish: thou shalt prepare it every morning.
14
And thou shalt prepare a meat offering for it every morning, the sixth part of an ephah, and the third part of an hin of oil, to temper with the fine flour; a meat offering continually by a perpetual ordinance unto the L
ORD
.
15
Thus shall they prepare the lamb, and the meat offering, and the oil, every morning
for
a continual burnt offering.
16
 Thus saith the Lord G
OD
; If the prince give a gift unto any of his sons, the inheritance thereof shall be his sons'; it
shall be
their possession by inheritance.
17
But if he give a gift of his inheritance to one of his servants, then it shall be his to the year of liberty; after it shall return to the prince: but his inheritance shall be his sons' for them.
18
 Moreover the prince shall not take of the people's inheritance by oppression, to thrust them out of their possession;
but
he shall give his sons inheritance out of his own possession: that my people be not scattered every man from his possession.
19
After he brought me through the entry, which
was
at the side of the gate, into the holy chambers of the priests, which looked toward the north: and, behold, there
was
a place on the two sides westward.
20
Then said he unto me, This
is
the place where the priests shall boil the trespass offering and the sin offering, where they shall bake the meat offering; that they bear
them
not out into the utter court, to sanctify the people.
21
Then he brought me forth into the utter court, and caused me to pass by the four corners of the court; and, behold, in every corner of the court
there was
a court.
22
In the four corners of the court
there were
courts joined of forty
cubits
long and thirty broad: these four corners
were
of one measure.
23
 And
there was
a row
of building
round about in them, round about them four, and
it was
made with boiling places under the rows round about.
24
Then said he unto me, These
are
the places of them that boil, where the ministers of the house shall boil the sacrifice of the people.
13
 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14
as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15
 but as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16
because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
17
And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning
here
in fear:
18
forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things,
as
silver and gold, from your vain conversation
received
by tradition from your fathers;
19
but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20
who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21
who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
22
Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren,
see that ye
love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23
being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
24
 For all flesh
is
as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25
but the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
2:
1
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
2
as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
3
if so be ye have tasted that the Lord
is
gracious.
4
 To whom coming,
as unto
a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God,
and
precious,
5
ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6
Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7
 Unto you therefore which believe
he is
precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8
and a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence,
even to them
which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
9
 But ye
are
a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
10
 which in time past
were
not a people, but
are
now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
